Chapter 139: Truth
The lights glowed dimly at the bar. Jennifer sat with a glass of champagne resting beside her on the table. Across from her sat a man, casually sipping his drink.
“You’ve been drinking a lot,” he said, raising an eyebrow. “What’s got you so pissed, huh?”
Jennifer gave him only a brief glance.
“It’s nothing,” she muttered.
But the man wasn’t convinced. He could see the storm brewing behind her calm exterior.
“You sure? Is it about another man? Is that why you’re pissed?”
Jennifer shot him a cold glare.
“If you already know, why ask?”
The man chuckled, hiding his face behind his hand.
“Ah, if I’d known I was gonna get roasted like that, I’d have kept my mouth shut.”
“Yeah. You should’ve,” Jennifer snapped, her tone sharp and ruthless.
He cleared his throat awkwardly and took another sip of his wine.
“We’re at a bar. We could just chill, party, whatever. Loosen up a little.”
Jennifer glared at him, gripping her glass like she might hurl it at him. He noticed—she was fuming. Furious. Maybe not just at him, but at the world.
“Okay, okay—forget it,” he said, raising his hands in surrender. He leaned back, sipping his wine again, deciding not to poke the bear any further.
Jennifer leaned forward, eyes lowered, the weight in her chest pressing hard. Her mind was boiling with emotions.
She was sick of it all.
Sick of seeing her sister live a good life.
Sick of that woman’s happiness.
She hated everything about Rose.
She shouldn’t have been born as her enemy’s sister.
Because from the moment Jennifer found out who Rose truly was—
Her enemy, the one who ruined her life, took everything that mattered—
She made a silent vow.
She was going to destroy her.
Blood or not, she was already dead to her.
Jennifer felt it boiling inside her. Her hands clenched, rising to her head as if she could rip the thoughts out of her skull. But then, she took a deep breath and tried to calm herself down.
“Zen… you know what?” she said, voice lower now. “I want to tell you something. Maybe if I say it out loud, it’ll finally calm me down.”
Zen’s expression shifted—serious now. He nodded slowly, sensing the weight behind her words.
Jennifer took one last sip of her drink, let the glass hit the table with a soft clink, and began.

“Rose is my sister.”
She paused. Her face darkened.
“She was also my enemy in my past life.”
Zen blinked, silent.
“She betrayed me,” Jennifer continued, her voice tightening. “She took everything. My power. My man. The one girl I trusted the most—stabbed me in the back. Can you imagine the humiliation?”
She took a deep breath, trying to ground herself, but the flood of memories wouldn’t stop.
” I was just a normal werewolf. My mother didn’t even favor Rose. I used to love that. I thought I had the upper hand. My mother—she only valued power. She liked control. She decided everything—even who I was supposed to marry.”
Jennifer’s jaw clenched.
“I didn’t want that. I didn’t want Rolan handed to me like some trophy. I was too perfect for that. Too perfect for her.”
Her eyes flicked to Zen, the corners filled with bitterness.
“So, I ran. I left the wedding behind. I left Rolan behind. And I had fun,” she said with a bitter laugh. “I was traveling, free, wild… I even met you.”
Zen didn’t speak. His face unreadable.
“But on the way… there was an accident. I crashed. They said I was unconscious for forty minutes.”
She closed her eyes.
“When I woke up, I was… me. But not the same. The present-day Jennifer didn’t know any of this. But something changed. Slowly, the past started creeping back.”
Jennifer gritted her teeth, her fists tight in her lap.
“Rose betrayed me. She stole everything I had. She’s the reason I lost him. The reason I lost Rolan—” her voice cracked, “—the man I was supposed to marry. And I ran away.”
A tear slid from the corner of her eye, but she didn’t wipe it away.
“I remembered everything. And now… I’m going to take it all back.”
That was the moment Rose realized she had truly fucked up.
Panic hit her like a truck. She decided to run back—fix everything. She would find Rolan, apologize, beg him if she had to. Let them get married. Let them be happy. Let them stay far away from her sister, the one who had ruined everything in their past life.
Jennifer had rushed back home too—but it was already too late.
She found out her sister had already married Rolan.
Jennifer’s fists clenched. Her face twisted with rage.
Unacceptable.
She couldn’t accept it. Her sister? No. Not again. Not in this life.
“No matter the situation,” she swore, “I’ll take Rolan back.”
He was originally hers.
He belonged to her.
There was no way Rose would get to keep him. Not in this lifetime. Not when Jennifer had remembered everything.
She already had her mother’s love. Rose didn’t. Rose had always been the unloved one. That made Jennifer feel powerful. Superior. It meant she could take anything from Rose now—just like Rose once took it all from her.
Including Rolan.
She’d steal him back. Just like Rose once stole him from her—innocently—in their past life.
Zayn watched her in silence, then grinned.
“Wow. That’s a lot of emotion. You wanna bang? Might help you clear your memory. Let the bad vibes go.”
Jennifer stared at him, her expression deadpan. If she still had wine in her cup, she would’ve splashed it right on his stupidly handsome face.
“Do you even have a heart?” she snapped.
“I’m telling you something deep and emotional, and that’s your takeaway?”
Zayn chuckled.
“You’re the one whose voice sounds like sex and spite had a baby. Can’t blame me for being dirty when you talk like that.”
Jennifer rolled her eyes, but a corner of her lips twitched. That was one thing about Zayn—he could twist anything with that silver tongue of his. He was reckless, cocky, unfiltered. And yet, that was the exact reason she still kept him around.
He knew how to talk. How to use words. And he used her too.
But she didn’t care.
“Fine. One round.” Jennifer said with a dry smirk.
Zayn laughed.
“One round? That’s too little. Don’t give me limits.”
Jennifer cursed under her breath.
“This sex-starved bastard…”
Even though she was fooling around with Zayn, it didn’t mean anything. Rolan was the man she truly wanted. She wasn’t going to play innocent or act pure for anyone—not anymore.
But the moment she got Rolan back…
She’d end it with Zayn.
She’d stop everything.
Because the truth was—
The potion wasn’t working on Rolan.
And that scared her more than anything.
