Chapter 19: Refusing To Feed Him
“Yes, dear, I will stay with you,” Rose said, looking at him, although she knew that once he slept, she was going to leave. She needed to clean herself up; she felt so sticky and was filled with Rolan’s scent.
Tobi looked at her with his eyes as if he did not believe her. He would not stay awake. He was going to watch his mommy until his mommy fell asleep. So he thought in his heart, and Darius agreed with him.
So Tobi, while his mother was petting him, trying to make him go to sleep, refused to fall asleep.
Rose chuckled in her heart, seeing the little thought in Tobi’s heart. She continued petting him. It was her chance. She knew him better than he knew himself.
While her soothing continued, Tobi did not know when he found himself falling asleep, and so he zoned out.
When Tobi fell asleep, Rose started getting up and going back to the bedroom. She walked out the door. She entered the bedroom and walked towards the spot where Rolan was hiding. She opened the curtains and unbuttoned her shirt, then flung the shirt on his face.
“Now that’s the shirt. It was really stinky. I did not like it sticking on my body.”
Rolan smirked, not minding her rude words.
“Now you are going to lie that you did not like my shirt on you and my scent on you. How pathetic.”
“Now turn around. I would like to clean myself,” she ordered, pointing at the wall.
Rolan, for some reason, easily did as she said, and she thanked God in her heart that he did not act out any drama of getting more shameless. So she washed herself happily, sure that some pervert was not watching her.
Rose finished washing up and then walked away, leaving the toilet, with Rolan following behind her. Rose returned to the bed, lying down with a sigh. Rolan lay down beside her, wrapping his hands around her. Rose shifted uncomfortably and muttered, “Rolan… let me go.”
She turned away from him, facing the other side of the bed.
“Just calm down and stop fighting,” Rolan said, his hands still holding her waist, refusing to let her go.
Rose closed her eyes, trying to clear her mind. Finally, she drifted off to sleep.
In the morning, Rose felt a tiny figure shifting against her hand. Slowly, she opened her eyes and saw Tobi waking her up. Grumbling from sleep, she rolled over, now facing Tobi, who was staring at her with big brown eyes.
“What is it, honey?” she asked gently.
Tobi pointed beside her bed.
Rose, curious about what he was pointing at, turned her head. Her eyes widened slightly when she saw Rolan sleeping next to her, his hand resting on her waist.
“Honey, what is it?” Rose asked again in confusion, unsure why Tobi was pointing.
“Yesterday…” Tobi began, his voice uncertain.
Rose stiffened, almost panicking at his words. How was she supposed to explain this? Yesterday, Rolan had been hiding in the bathroom, and Tobi hadn’t seen him. Should she tell him the truth?
“Honey, your uncle slept here last night. Have you forgotten?” Rose said with a smile, hoping to soothe him.
She thought Tobi was too young to remember clearly and would probably just recall that Rolan had been there, not the fact that he hadn’t been visible when Tobi had woken up during the night. He should not remember, if not she would be too embarrassed to say anything to him!
Ah She had sin as a mother!!
“Mommy, make this uncle get off our bed,” Tobi said, frowning.
Rose couldn’t understand why Tobi was acting this way. He was usually such an obedient child—why was he behaving like this now?
A deep voice rumbled from Rolan. “You better shut up and let your uncle sleep.”
Tobi flinched, hiding next to Rose.

Rolan was stunned. This little kid seemed determined to be his enemy. First, he had interrupted his moment with Rose, and now, early in the morning, he was asking her to chase him out of the bed.
What kind of kid was this?
“Well, I’m not getting off,” Rolan muttered stubbornly.
Rolan’s eyes trailed to Rose and Tobi. They were both looking at him like a challenge, as if daring him to back down. But he wouldn’t. He always listened to her, yet this time, he held his ground.
Rose glared at him, holding back the sharp words she wanted to say. Instead, she controlled herself, rubbing Tobi’s head gently. Then, she turned her attention back to Rolan and finally got off the bed.
“Honey, come on, let’s go get ready for school,” she said softly to Tobi.
Tobi nodded his tiny head and followed his mommy out of the room. However, before leaving, he shot a glare at Rolan and said, “You stay away from my mommy!”
Rolan stared after him, confused. What was with this kid? People said he was a fearless monster, but now he was being bossed around by a child?

Later, in the dining room, Tobi sat down at the table while Rose served him a beautifully prepared meal. He seemed ready to eat without any problem.
After finishing serving Tobi, Rose returned to the kitchen to drop off the dishes. When she came back, she sat down at the table.
Now it was time to eat.
Rolan sat at the table, giving her a skeptical look, then shifted his gaze to the child. Why was he looking at both of them like that?
Rose had placed an empty plate in front of him, making him think she was going to serve him as well. But instead, she focused on serving food to Tobi first.
Rolan sat there, staring at the empty plate, left to feed on nothing.
What was he supposed to do with an empty plate? Did she expect him to eat from it just like that? He wasn’t a Plate-tarian—he needed food.
