Chapter 23: Childhood dreams
Rose couldn’t stand there anymore. Finally, she found her confidence. She took a deep breath and walked toward her dad. She shifted the chair and took a seat beside him.
“How are you doing, honey? How is your kid?”
Her dad immediately smiled kindly at her, his smile charming. Though in his forties, he looked very young and handsome with his blonde hair.
She scratched her hair, even though it wasn’t itchy, and answered, “I’m fine, Dad, and he’s fine too. He’s at school.”
She seemed calm on the surface, but her heart was racing. Finally, she had a proper conversation with him without stuttering.
“Go on, talk. Don’t be nervous. We’re here to talk about your new living space, right?” her dad said, looking at her. It seemed he had observed her closely and read her body language. She thought she wasn’t being too obvious, but her awkwardness still showed.
Thinking about the chance of moving houses, she screamed in her heart, telling herself to focus and not mess things up.
“Yes, Dad, we are here to talk about it.” Rose cleared her throat and started speaking.
Her dad nodded in response to her words. His eyes were serious, like he was deeply immersed in thought about what she had said.
“So, where do you want to live? You name it, and I’ll provide it for you,” he asked her.
She almost wanted to laugh at his words. He was so blunt about throwing his money at her. She regretted, in her last life, not being very close to him and ignoring him in that moment when she was about to die. She had been so stupid back then.
Her dad was a special man. She meant a man filled with cash. If not, why would a prideful Alpha female werewolf get together with him?
She believed that her mother’s intention when she got with her father was to drain him dry and run away. But somehow, her father kept her in the marriage. The bond between them was like a revenge game. You hurt me, I hurt you, and we’re even.
But she thought it was still her dad who had suffered the most in this marriage.
She couldn’t help but sigh, unable to think further.
No need to dwell on the past.
Fumbling with her fingers, she then eyed her father.
“A place… i want to live in a place where Rolan can’t find me and her son. Dad, can you make that happen?” Her eyes were staring at him intensely, wanting to look cute. She would do anything to run away from Rolan. She was sure of it. Nothing would stop her or make her change her mind.
Her dad touched the bridge of his nose, staring at the cup of coffee that had just been brought by the waiter.
“I can make that happen, dear. I can make it happen,” his voice turned serious, and she just wanted to skip with joy. But she couldn’t. She only danced the disco in her mind.
Finally, she had reassurance. If possible, she didn’t want to spend a single night in that apartment because, who knows, Rolan might break in again.
“How about Sub D District? The place there is safe. A lot of elites live there, wanting a peaceful life. So I think the place best suits you and my grandchild,” her dad suggested, keeping his face calm as if recalling an old memory.
Sub D District? What kind of place was that? She didn’t know, but she could bet it was safe since her dad had suggested it. He wouldn’t harm her by sending her somewhere you’d wake up and find your neighbor in your apartment.
“That place… I’ve never heard of it. But since you know the place best, I have no objection.” She giggled with a smile in the corner of her eyes. She would be so dumb and stupid to refuse anything he gave her.
“Ha, don’t make it seem like I’m forcing you,” Stewart said with a chuckle, his hand going to pinch his nose, bowing his head slightly. It was as if he didn’t want her to see his smiling face.
“Haha… yes,” she laughed along with him, thinking about it. She might have indeed acted silly when she rushed to accept any suggestion he brought. She was afraid that if it had been anyone else, they would have thought she wasn’t serious. But she was serious! Damn, it was just the awkwardness that kept coming.
“Dad, I have another thing to say,” she suddenly said, remembering. Yes, the second important thing that brought her here today. She needed to talk to him about it.
She couldn’t waste any more time! She screamed in her mind.
She continued what she was saying: “The movie company… I want to open a movie company.”

It had always been her dream. She didn’t know how she started dreaming of owning a movie company, but she guessed it was back in kindergarten when a little kid had ruined her ordinary paper building that she made.
She had told me that her house wouldn’t function. People couldn’t live in it. They couldn’t produce from it. Only her princess castle could do all of it. And so, she held a grudge. She remembered it, though she didn’t know why she had cried that day. She went and studied those words she had mentioned, and it all connected to that.
It became her obsession, and she was going to bring it to life!
“Are you sure about this? You’ve got a kid to take care of,” her dad’s tone turned serious.
She felt like a cat had caught her tongue. She hadn’t expected that coming from him.
Rose, calm your heart and don’t feel weak, she chanted in her mind. Maybe this was a test from her dad.
“Dad, I promise I won’t slack off. I’ll look after Tobi well. I just can’t keep doing this. I can’t keep taking your money every time. One day, if Mother finds out… imagine what she would do to you.”
Thinking it might be a test, she begged again, forcing tears from her eyes.
“Don’t bring her name up here. This was meant to be a good conversation,” he said.
She didn’t know what else to say. She became as silent as a mouse. She shouldn’t have brought her mom up. She guessed now her dad was upset.
