Chapter 41: An interesting woman
“You are such an interesting woman,” Mr. Kelvin said bluntly, laughing out loud.
Rose opened her eyes, her face filled with confusion. Why did he just say that? What did discussing business have to do with her being funny or interesting?
“At least you’re not boring, I guess,” Mr. Kelvin continued in his usual cold tone.
Rose simply smiled and nodded at whatever he said. He was her benefactor now—she had no right to comment on his words. Since he was helping her, she would just listen.
“A table for two. What would you like, ma’am?”
The waiter finally arrived, his hands holding a small notepad.
Rose raised her head and looked between Mr. Kelvin and the waiter. She remained silent. She didn’t want to order first—he had made all the reservations, so he should take the lead. She wasn’t comfortable enough with strangers to make decisions on her own in this setting.
Mr. Kelvin seemed to understand her hesitation. He smirked slightly before turning to the waiter and placing their order.
Rose’s thoughts drifted to Tobi.
He was with her mother—would he be okay? She knew her mother wouldn’t harm him, but would he miss her? Her mind couldn’t help but conjure up a thousand different worries all at once.
“Your food, ma’am,” the waiter’s voice snapped her back to reality.
Rose almost flinched, but she quickly composed herself and thanked the waiter. She looked down at the dish placed in front of her.
“I hope this isn’t something I’m allergic to,” she thought, glancing at Mr. Kelvin beside her.
She suddenly noticed his expression—he was frowning at her, his cold gaze fixed directly on her.
Her hand, which had just picked up the spoon, trembled slightly. Not knowing what to do, she simply set the spoon down.
Mr. Kelvin was undoubtedly a handsome man, but his temperament was strange—almost like a spoiled brat. Rose sighed internally, already imagining a difficult future for herself if she had to keep dealing with him.
“Is there a problem, Mr. Kelvin?” Rose finally asked, carefully choosing her words so as not to upset him.
“You didn’t say thank you.”
Rose blinked, confused.
“Mr. Kelvin… sorry, sir, but I don’t understand. Thank you for what?” she asked, forcing the words out slowly, making sure she didn’t sound rude.
“I was the one who ordered for you, so you should have thanked me, not the waiter.”
This was the longest sentence she had heard from him since they met—aside from when he was critiquing her business idea.
“Thank you, Mr. Kelvin, for ordering for me,” Rose said immediately, leaving no room for further argument.
Mr. Kelvin narrowed his eyes slightly, nodded, and barely smiled before turning back to his food.
Rose saw this and internally groaned. What was wrong with this man?
She couldn’t understand him at all. He kept putting her on edge.
How was she supposed to deal with him in the future? Her future was already tough enough in her imagination.
As Rose picked up her spoon to start eating, she suddenly noticed Mr. Kelvin looking at her again.
Rose shuddered, screaming in her heart, Why did he just look at me like that—right when I was about to eat my meal?

“Are you a werewolf?” came Mr. Kelvin’s voice.
Rose made a sound that wasn’t quite words, more of a startled noise in response to his unexpected question. Where did this topic come from? It was too deep, too personal. She had always been judged for not being a full-blooded werewolf.
“No, I’m not a werewolf,” Rose responded, only partially telling the truth. Her tone was dismissive—she didn’t want to discuss this, not even with Mr. Kelvin.
“Tsk. But your mother is a werewolf. You’re pretty boring,” Mr. Kelvin muttered, disappointment clear in his tone.
Rose bit her lip, feeling stuck in a dilemma. She couldn’t figure this man out—his conversation topics were unpredictable.
And worse, they were the strangest topics she had ever heard, like a high school kid being curious about an old legend.
“Enjoy the meal. Starting next week, once a week, I’ll have dinner or lunch with you,” he added casually.
Rose screamed in her heart, mentally rejecting his words as if she could reverse them.
‘In the name of the Lord, I never want to eat with you again! My brain is not smart enough to handle you. It’s already burnt out from just this one hour with you!’
But on the outside, Rose forced a smile and responded politely, “Thank you, I would love to have meals with you several times.”
Her voice was calm and sincere, or at least it sounded that way.
Mr. Kelvin raised an eyebrow slightly but simply nodded before saying, “Anyway, let’s walk outside the restaurant together.”
Rose couldn’t refuse this time, so she silently followed him outside.
Once outside, they stood next to his sleek, dark, flashy car.
“So, you have my number, right?” Mr. Kelvin asked, pulling his car key from his pocket.
Rose raised an eyebrow at his question but quickly nodded, deciding to keep her words to herself.
“No, that’s not right. That’s my business number. You can have my personal number,” he corrected, his cold, nonchalant tone unwavering.
He gestured for her to hand over her phone. Rose subconsciously pulled it out and gave it to him.
She listened to the beeping sounds as he tapped in his digits, saving his so-called personal number into her phone.
“And there you go. I’m giving you this number because you’d be ignored like that old geezer who keeps calling me. You wouldn’t want to be ignored, right?” he smirked, raising an eyebrow.
Before Rose could even respond, he turned away, casually getting into his car.
“Bye, see you later,” Rose said, watching as Mr. Kelvin gave her a lazy wave with one hand while the other remained on the steering wheel.
‘Phew, thank God he’s gone. That confusing man is finally gone!’
Rose sighed in relief, a bright smile forming as she placed a hand on her chest, silently thanking the heavens.
But from a distance, parked on the side of the street, a dark car remained still.
Inside, a pair of cold eyes watched Rose as she smiled while Mr. Kelvin drove away.
Rolan’s expression was unreadable—an abyss of emotions.
He had read all of Rose’s reactions as if she were a woman in love, still blushing over her crush who had just left.
His chest felt as if it had been punched a thousand times.
From the corner of his eye, Rolan saw Rose walking further toward the roadside, clearly waiting for a taxi. He swallowed his anger, gripping the steering wheel tightly before suddenly driving toward where she was standing.
Rose looked up as a car suddenly stopped in front of her. She didn’t recognize it at first, but before she could fully process the situation, the car door swung open—
And Rolan stepped out.
Rose’s eyes widened in shock. Instinctively, she turned to run, but before she could take a step, Rolan swiftly grabbed her hand.
“Well, is this where you run off to play, dear Rose?”
His voice was calm, yet laced with an unmistakable chill, filled with contempt.
Rose’s heart leaped in her chest, and for a brief moment, she wondered—Had she done something wrong?
