Chapter 48: Jennifer’s pain
Yuna stared at the scene before her eyes as she broke the door.
Two figures were sitting on the bed—one small and one bigger. They were playing with toys on the bed.
Tobi and Miss Stella’s attention was drawn to the door that had just been broken. They stared at Yuna, who had just walked in.
For a moment, Tobi thought it was Rose, but it was not—it was Yuna.
“Mummy?” Tobi called, blinking his eyes as he looked at Yuna.
Yuna stared at Tobi, her cold and serious expression faltering as she tried to force a warm smile—just like Rose usually did. After all, Tobi was her child too. But unlike Rose, Yuna’s personality was different.
She could speak to Darius however she wanted without guilt, but Tobi was like a delicate doll. If his mother suddenly acted too serious, he would either cry or become suspicious.
“Um… Mother, son, you two seem to be playing a game. Do you want Mummy to join you?” Yuna asked with a smile that she had to force onto her face. It appeared warm—after all, it was Rose’s face—but since Yuna wasn’t someone who smiled often, it wasn’t obvious that she had been practicing the expression before making it perfect.
Mrs. Stella looked at Yuna suspiciously. For some reason, she was getting a familiar feeling—one she hadn’t had in years. But she brushed it off as a misconception. Rose was never like Yuna. She was nothing but a useless child she had given birth to.
“What are you doing here? Why did you break my door? You’re going to fix it right now,” Mrs. Stella glared at Yuna, gesturing toward the broken door with her eyes. If it were Rose, she would have immediately fixed it. But this was Yuna, not Rose.
“Leave the door, Mother. I want to play with you and Tobi,” Yuna said neutrally, then added a smile.
Tobi raised his little head, pausing in his play with the toy train, and looked at his mummy talking to his grandma.
“Mummy, will you please fix the door?” Tobi asked, looking up at Yuna with his large, round eyes.
Yuna pursed her lips, feeling awkward. She couldn’t resist listening to the child’s request. With a small sigh, she turned and walked toward the broken door. Looking down at it, she leaned over, picked up the heavy door—one that weighed more than a 150kg woman—and fixed it back in place as if it had never been broken.
Once she was done, Yuna turned back to Mrs. Stella and Tobi.
“Now, can I play too?”
“Yes! Mummy can play with us!” Tobi cheered, running to Yuna and handing her a toy. Yuna took it and smiled.
Mrs. Stella, however, stood still with her arms folded, staring at her daughter. She couldn’t understand what had happened to Rose. She hadn’t even tried to argue or react to Stella’s usual insults. It was strange—almost unsettling.
“Toy train, let’s fly to the moon!” Tobi giggled, playing with the toy in his small hands.
Yuna sat beside him and imitated his actions.
“Yes! The train will take us to the Moon Goddess—fantastic!”
“Fantastic!” Tobi repeated after Yuna, even though he didn’t understand what she was saying. The word fantastic was new to him, but now it had a place in his little brain.
After a long while, Tobi felt that something was missing. He turned to Mrs. Stella, who was now sitting on the bed, watching them with a bitter expression.
“Won’t Grandma come and play with us?” Tobi asked, looking up at Mrs. Stella.
Mrs. Stella rose from the bed and walked toward Tobi and Yuna.
“Tobi, tell your mummy to go out and let you play with Grandma,” Mrs. Stella said, raising her head and looking at Yuna, wanting to hear her reaction.
“I think Tobi would like to play with me. Maybe Grandma should excuse us, mother and son,” Yuna shrugged.
Mrs. Stella glanced at her and then looked at Tobi, waiting for his answer.
“Grandma and mummy should both stay,” he giggled, playing more with his toy.

Mrs. Stella and Tobi stared at each other expressionlessly before they compromised.
meanwhile…
Rose watched the peaceful scene outside. She felt calm and couldn’t help but drift off, letting out a soft yawn.
…
Jenifer’s heels clicked against the floor as she walked in. The servants, who had been cleaning or working, stood frozen, staring at her as if she were the devil. Of course, to them, she was. She was the most arrogant young lady they had ever encountered in their years of service.
Jenifer stopped in her tracks and pointed at a servant who wasn’t trembling like the rest.
“Hey, you! Why are you looking me in the eye? Come on, face the wall!”
“Y-Yes, Mistress,” the servant stammered before quickly turning to face the wall as commanded.
Yes, everyone should show her respect—this kind of respect. A small smirk formed across Jenifer’s face as she saw the servant obey.
With these thoughts in mind, Jenifer stormed up the stairs, heading straight to her mother’s room.
…
Jenifer gritted her teeth, staring at the door like it was her enemy. The door was locked. She tried to open it harshly, but it bounced back on her.
Her expression darkened as she knocked again, harder this time.
“Who is it…? Who dares to be so disrespectful to my door?” Mrs. Stella’s hiss came from inside.
Jenifer barely waited. The moment she heard movement from inside, she pushed against the door, her urgency clear. Her mother had a lot of explaining to do. She had heard a piece of information from outside—that was what made her come down here.
the door click open and Jenifer storm in , spotting her mother she wasted no time to complain.
“Mother, did Rose come to the house yesterday?”
“Yes, she indeed came here,” Mrs. Stella answered turning to glance at her.
“Mother, Rose came here, and you left her unscathed. Don’t tell me you didn’t punish her for me,” Jenifer looked at Mrs. Stella with red eyes as if she was about to cry.
Mrs. Stella’s expression turned serious. She only walked to the bed, sitting and crossing her legs.
She had heard rumours outside,so she came today.
“Mummy, I miss you,” Jenifer cried, going to hug Mrs. Stella on the bed where she sat.
“Come on, what is wrong? Tell your mother, and I’ll solve it for you,” Mrs. Stella comforted her.
Jenifer’s eyes turned cold. From where? Mrs. Stella couldn’t see because she was being hugged.
Rose was back, and even her mother’s feelings toward her seemed to be changing. There were no good feelings; Rose was back to steal everything away from her—everything that she had worked for over the years. Rose wanted to steal Rolan, and now her mother too.
