Chapter 51: Don’t you like it…
As Rose ended her call with Rolan, she received another call—one she did not want to pick up, thinking it was Rolan again. She almost ended the call when she glanced at the screen and saw that it was Mr. Kelvin.
She gasped, taking a deep breath and hiding her excitement as she answered. After all, this concerned her business—he was her helper, and his call was important.
“Hello, Mr. Kelvin,” Rose said, keeping a calm tone. She had almost forgotten that she was still annoyed with his attitude from last time.
Mr. Kelvin’s voice came from the other side of the phone. “Miss Rose, are you serious about your business? If you are, you better come to me right now. I’m at the building we’re going to buy for your company.”
His voice sounded more serious than usual, and Rose immediately understood—he was always this way when it came to business.
Her heart raced as she processed the unexpected news.
Today, she was going to see the building for her company.
Her excitement couldn’t be hidden.
“Yes, Mr. Kelvin! Thank you very much… I’ll be there. Just send me the location,” Rose said eagerly.
She heard a slight hum of agreement from Mr. Kelvin before the call ended abruptly. Just as she was about to react, she received a notification. Opening it, she saw the text with the location. Without wasting time, she immediately called Taxi to tell him where to take her.
Inside the car, Rose called Zara to share her excitement.
“Zara, guess what happened to me!”
“What is it? What happened?” Zara’s voice sounded anxious and curious over the phone.
Rose giggled before answering, “I’m on my way to see my company building today. Isn’t that amazing?”
She could sense Zara’s excitement through the phone. Of course, her best friend was happy for her.
“I’m so happy for you!” Zara said. “This is great. Everything for the future is falling into place. Nothing will go wrong—I promise you.”
Rose nodded to herself. “Nothing will happen to me. I’ll stay alive, work hard, provide everything for my son, and live happily with him, watching him grow old.”
“See you later. Talk to you soon,” she added before ending the call. The car became silent as it took her to her destination.
In a short while, the car parked outside a quiet area with only a few buildings. The environment looked green and well-kept, with no litter on the ground. As Rose stepped out of the car, she observed her surroundings. It was a healthy environment—one that wouldn’t pose any issues in the future.
“Thanks for the ride!” she said to the driver, earning a slight nod before he drove off.
She stood there, looking at the building.
Was this really the place where she would build her dream company?
Everything was going smoothly for her. She hoped no mishaps would occur in the end.
The area was eerily quiet—almost as if no one lived there. If not for the few buildings in sight, she might have thought it was completely abandoned. Rose pursed her lips and glanced down at her phone, thinking of calling Mr. Kelvin.
But just then, she spotted a young girl in a high school uniform walking by.
Rose’s eyes lit up at the sight of her. Hurriedly, she approached the girl.
“Excuse me, miss. Where is Raven Building located?”
The little girl raised her head, looked at Rose, then blushed slightly before answering, “It’s down that long road to the left.”
She gestured toward a long, empty road stretching far ahead.

Rose stared at the road with an awkward expression.
“Thank you,” she said to the girl, though a thought ran through her mind.
Was she really going to walk all the way there?
Mr. Kelvin hadn’t mentioned this!
Rose furrowed her brows and screamed internally.
If she had known, she wouldn’t have let the taxi drop her off here!
The road was completely empty. Not a single soul in sight except for Rose. She gasped, placing her hands on her waist as she looked ahead.
“This place… Finally, I can see a building and not just an endless empty road,” Rose muttered with a small smile, forcing her legs to move forward.
Inside, she was cursing Mr. Kelvin for making her go through such trouble.
It didn’t take her long to arrive. When she saw the building, she was taken aback—it was huge, nothing like the old, run-down place she had expected.
Rose noticed many people standing outside the building, all dressed in white. They seemed to be working. But why would they be working here? She was puzzled. She had finally arrived, but she needed to go inside.
Curious, Rose approached one of the workers, a man in white.
“Excuse me, what kind of work do you do here?” she asked.
The man smiled and pointed at the building.
“Ma’am, we’re cleaning up. This place has been newly bought.”
Rose nodded, but then her eyes widened.
They were cleaning this place because it had already been bought?
But wasn’t she and Mr. Kelvin supposed to discuss it first before anything was finalized?
Yet, the workers were already cleaning…
“Please, do you know where Mr. Kelvin is? Is he inside? Can I go in?” Rose asked, glancing around the building once more.
“Yes, he’s inside. You can go see him,” the man said, pointing towards the entrance.
“Thank you,” Rose replied before heading inside.
As she stepped in, she found herself in a large open space—like a main hall. More workers, both men and women, were cleaning.
Her eyes scanned the place, searching for Mr. Kelvin.
Soon, she spotted him.
Rose took a deep breath and slowly approached him. He was standing with his back turned to her.
The distance between them was quite long, and she walked for a while before reaching him.
When she got there, she stopped and looked at him.
“Excuse me, Mr. Kelvin. Greetings. You told me to come here and see the building for my company, and then we would decide,” she said.
Mr. Kelvin glanced at her indifferently and nodded. “Yes, I did say that.”
Rose observed him carefully. There was no expression in his eyes. The playfulness she had seen in him last time—the one that annoyed her—was gone.
She wondered if he had mood swings.
“Mr. Kelvin,” Rose started cautiously, “you said I should come see the company, but you didn’t say you would buy it.”
Her voice was low, speaking with caution.
Mr. Kelvin glanced at her again, and she saw something in his eyes—a hint of amusement, almost like a sneer.
“What’s wrong with this place? Don’t you like it?” he asked.
“Yes, I do,” Rose subconsciously nodded. She didn’t dislike the place, but still…
“Then can you afford it all on your own?”
His next question hit her hard, and she found herself shaking her head.
“I… I’m fine with this place,” Rose said hurriedly, realizing she had almost done something stupid that could ruin this opportunity for her.
It was best to stay quiet and let Mr. Kelvin decide.
After all, it was his money.
He was doing this out of charity, she thought, laughing awkwardly in her heart.
“As I expected,” Mr. Kelvin said nonchalantly, turning toward another set of doors. “Come, let’s see more of the building.”
He started walking inside, and Rose found herself running after him—even though she was wearing heels.
This man liked to stress her out so much, she couldn’t help but complain in her heart.
The more of the building she saw, the more impressed Rose became. It was almost perfect.
Then, her eyes landed on another door in the room.
She turned to Mr. Kelvin, who was standing beside her.
“That room there—we haven’t seen it yet,” she pointed out.
Mr. Kelvin glanced at the door nonchalantly and gave her a slight nod, signaling for her to check it out.
Rose walked over, reaching for the handle.
But just as she opened the door—
“Watch out!”
A voice called out.
Rose swiftly turned—
And there, she saw something flying toward her.
A blank?
No—a plank!
