Chapter 53: Apple temptation…
Rose nodded gratefully to Mr. Kelvin for helping her make the best decision. Of course, the man then turned cocky and pissed her off in the end.

Another location: Three dark men covered their faces with black cloths as they entered a dimly lit room. It wasn’t Emory, obviously, but it seemed so. There was a woman sitting in a chair with her legs crossed, smoking a cigar. Her hair was blonde, and she had pale skin with red lips.
The face almost resembled Rose’s.
Jennifer stared at the men who had just entered, her eyebrows furrowed as she tried to read their expressions.
One of the men looked at the expression in Jennifer’s eyes and shivered. He kneeled, begging for mercy.
“Madam Jennifer, we did what you asked us. We set a trap to make a prank call on your sister. We weren’t close, but a stranger saved her.”
The fear in the man’s voice could be heard more clearly as he explained what had happened and begged.
His companions also kneeled beside him and begged, “We really tried our best, ma’am, but your sister was saved. If only it was just her…”
Jennifer’s expression, which had been full of rage, became expressionless. Slowly, she stood from her chair and walked toward the men who were kneeling before her.
Standing above them, she pressed the cigar on the head of the first man who had given her the information. The man gasped, feeling the pain like a wounded animal. Jennifer’s face twisted in disgust at his reaction.
She moved her lips and muttered coldly, “You deserve this. It was only a little task, just a small task, and you failed. Why are you guys such a disgrace to me?”
The three hefty men shivered from the tone of Jennifer’s voice. They knew something bad was coming their way. They were just human, and she was a beast who had shown her true form to them—her werewolf form.
As expected, Jennifer used her strength, kicking the man and sending him crashing into the wall.
“Tsk,” Rose spat on the floor, staring at the men like they were a common virus.
Jennifer’s face grimaced as she slammed her fist into the wall, hitting it repeatedly.
“Why, Rose? Why can’t you die? Rose should die!” she whispered to herself. “I just wish for Rose to be gone from my existence. She shouldn’t be alive to take everything that belongs to me, to take Rolan from me.”
For Jennifer, Rose dying was the only way her dreams would come true. If she could be with Rolan… Rolan was hers.
At that moment, blood had already started staining the wall, gushing from Jennifer’s hand, but she didn’t stop hitting the wall. She kept pounding it again and again.
The men in the room shivered at the sight of the scene. One of them nodded. “She must have gone to take her drugs again.”
A young woman like Jennifer being on drugs was surprising, even to her mother, Luna. Her mother thought she was the perfect daughter—someone who couldn’t be suspected of such things unless an investigation was carried out.
“We’re going for Plan B, men,” Jennifer suddenly laughed crazily, showing her white teeth. Her shoulders shook as her laughter echoed through the room.
The men in the room gulped and nodded in unison. “Yes, ma’am.”
They wondered what kind of cruel accident she had planned this time for her dear sister.
“You can all leave now, and excuse me,” Jennifer said to them as the men left, almost happy to be escaping her presence. Jennifer walked to her chair and opened her purse, pulling out a lipstick. She rubbed it on her lips with a pop, making the lipstick smudge everywhere.
The cigarettes ruined my lipstick,” she muttered under her breath, rubbing her lips together to make the lipstick reach both ends, creating a soft pop sound, then touching her hair softly to fix it, glancing at the mirror she had also taken from her purse.
…
The school playground, break time. The kids had been given time to play and eat.
Different children rushed out of the classrooms to find different play groups and various objects to play with. Tobi sat in the classroom, looking at the picture of an apple in his book.

The apple was so big and bright, he was drooling. He thought it was a real apple, and he wanted to eat it.
Darius’s voice snapped Tobi out of his thoughts. “Brother, snap out of it… okay? Because that’s paper, not an apple. You’re not going to eat it, sorry!”
Tobi shook his little head, looking at the book as if coming back to his senses.
“The apple looks so real, brother,” Tobi said, not as if he were joking. He wanted to eat the apple, but Darius said it was paper, and Darius didn’t tell lies.
“If you’re hungry, eat something from your bag,” Darius suggested. Tobi buried his head in the table, saying no to Darius. “Mummy gave me veggies, cereal, milk, and water. I want to eat fruit. She didn’t give me fruit. I want apple.”
Darius kept silent, not knowing what to do. A solution suddenly came to Tobi, and he wanted to help his brother, but he was quite helpless in this situation.
“Can you wait until we get home? Mummy will get us apples,” Darius smiled and said. Tobi nodded, okay to Darius. Darius let out a sigh of relief that Tobi had listened. “Should we go play?” Darius changed the subject. Tobi nodded, looking reluctantly at the book.
Darius rolled his eyes, wondering what was with this apple.
Tobi got up from his seat and walked to the door. The moment he touched the handle, he opened it because it wasn’t locked. Tobi saw five kids, almost his age, but they seemed a little older than him.
Tobi looked at the older kids and waited in the corner, thinking they would pass by, but instead, the kids just stood there and stared at him. Tobi couldn’t help it and asked them.
“Excuse me, please, why aren’t you passing? Do you want me to pass first?” His voice was low and soft, not filled with much courage.
One of the kids, wearing a blue shirt, smirked with his tiny face, like a little villain. He looked at Tobi and said, “Hey, quiet kid, I heard that you want an apple.”
Apple? Tobi had just heard the word “apple” a while ago. He was craving one, and now this kid was asking if he wanted one. Did the kid have apples?
“Yes, I want an apple. Do you have one to give me?”
The blue-shirted kid smiled, seeing Tobi’s face light up like a lightbulb, showing that he was interested.
“I don’t have apples,” the kid stated, and Tobi’s face dropped. But then the kid said again, “But I know where there are apples.”
“Apples? From where?” Tobi asked curiously, wondering where the kid could get apples for him.
“Do you want to get some, too? For me?” Tobi asked, his eyes naïve.
The kids all started laughing together when they heard Tobi’s words.
“If you want an apple, go get it yourself. We’ll just show you where the apple tree is.”
Tobi got more excited hearing that the kid would show him where the apple tree was.
“Follow me,” the kid said, turning to run away, and Tobi followed after them.
Tobi hurried with his short legs, running along until they stopped somewhere. He stopped too.
The children said there was an apple tree, but Tobi only saw a fenced area. Where was the apple tree?
“I can’t see the tree,” Tobi said softly, looking at the kids with pouted lips.
“You just need to climb over that gate,” one of the boys said in a high-pitched voice, pointing to the dense area.
