Chapter 62: I’m her husband
Her heart pounded in her chest as Rolan stepped inside, his tall figure framed by the doorway. Dressed in a sharp suit, he looked extraordinarily handsome.
Rose subconsciously wiped her hands against her dress, her eyes locked on Rolan.
Had he come to save her? When everything felt like it was about to fall apart, he appeared like a knight in shining armor. What would she do without him? But she wasn’t sure yet—was Rolan truly here for her?
She took the opportunity while the council lady was distracted by Rolan and pulled Tobi to her side.
The council lady noticed and moved to take Tobi away again, but Zara quickly stepped in, using her body to block the woman’s path, shielding Rose and Tobi.
The tattooed man’s eyes flickered toward Rolan. He intended to threaten him, to speak carelessly. But then—he felt it.
The air in the room shifted.
He sensed it.
Rolan was a powerful Alpha werewolf.
The heavy aura filled the space, suffocating. The tattooed man found himself frozen, unable to act.
“I’m her husband,” Rolan stated once more, his voice cold, his sharp gaze piercing into the man.
The tattooed man clenched his jaw, pretending as if Rolan’s Alpha presence had no effect on him. Yet, sweat beaded at his temple.
“Sir, it’s not good to be a stranger’s husband,” the man said through gritted teeth.
Rolan raised a brow.
“If I say I’m her husband,” he stepped forward, his voice unwavering, “then I am her husband. No arguments. No negotiations.”
The man frowned bitterly, feeling the pressure increase as Rolan drew closer.
“S-Sorry, sir. I only said that because we received reports that this lady has no husband.”
The tattooed man forced a smile, as if silently telling Rolan to step away, to stop defending Rose, to mind his own business.
Rolan, however, smirked.
“Oh? You need evidence?” He reached into his suit pocket, pulling out a document. “Here. I suppose this should be enough proof.”
The marriage certificate was shoved right in the tattooed man’s face. He stared at it, at a loss for words.
“Now, I don’t want you to bother my wife again.” Rolan’s voice was sharp, filled with authority. The man dared not speak further.
Rolan turned away from him, his attention now fully on Rose. He glanced at the council lady, just once, but it was enough—her knees trembled beneath her, and she collapsed onto the floor.
He strode toward Rose.
She stood there like a drenched kitten, trembling, her cheeks stained with tears. Tobi clung to her for comfort.
“Would you like to go home, wife?” Rolan’s voice was low, hoarse, sending shivers down Rose’s spine.
Relief flooded her. Tobi wouldn’t be taken from her again. For that, she was grateful.
“Let’s go, honey,” Rolan said again before Rose could say anything else.
She bit her lip, glancing up at him hesitantly. But he took her hand, leading them outside without another word.

Zara, standing behind them, shot a glare at the tattooed man before following her best friend out.
—
Inside the car, Rose held Tobi tightly in her arms, whispering, “Thank you for not letting him be taken away from me.”
Her gaze shifted to Rolan in the driver’s seat.
His eyes were on the road, but she could still see him through the mirror.
“No problem,” Rolan said coolly. “It was my pleasure to help.”
His voice lacked the playfulness it once held.
Rolan was smart—he knew when to play around.
And he knew when not to.
“Sorry, Rolan, you can drop me at the park over there. There are a lot of taxis; I’ll take one from there,” Zara, who had been sitting awkwardly for a while, said. She glanced at Rolan hesitantly. It would be best to leave them alone now.
“No, I’ll drop you home,” Rolan replied, and Zara couldn’t refuse.
The car was silent after Zara left. Neither Rolan nor Rose spoke a word to each other. Rose played with Tobi’s hands as a distraction, though her heart was restless.
“Those papers… do you always carry them with you?”
She had been holding onto this curiosity for so long that she couldn’t stop herself from asking.
Rolan, focused on driving, gripped the wheel tightly. His hands trembled slightly as he glanced at her through the rearview mirror before answering, “Yes, I always carry them with me.”
“I see,” Rose murmured softly, ending the topic. Her expression was unreadable, and Rolan couldn’t tell what she was thinking. She was keeping her emotions guarded, unwilling to reveal anything.
When the car finally stopped in front of Rose’s house, Rolan got out and walked over to open the car door for her.
Rose stepped out and muttered a quiet “Thank you.”
They stood there for a moment, neither saying a word. Then, Rose turned to him and asked,
“Won’t you come inside?”
Rolan’s lips curled into a small smile.
“I thought you’d never ask.”
With that, he stepped inside, walking beside her.
…
“Mummy, I’m hungry,” Tobi said, clinging to Rose.
“I’ll make you something in a minute,” she reassured him.
Rolan, hearing this, smirked and added, “I’m hungry too.”
“I’ll make you something as well,” Rose replied, surprising him.
A small smile tugged at Rolan’s lips.
“But… I’m not hungry for food.”
“Crafty bastard!” Rose spat, turning and rushing into the kitchen, leaving Tobi staring at Rolan with wide eyes.
From the kitchen, she could hear Rolan laughing, and she couldn’t help but cook with an annoyed expression.
…
The next morning…
“Dear, I’ll see you later. Study hard, and don’t let any kids deceive you over some simple things,” Rose said, holding Tobi’s small hand, her eyes full of warmth.
She didn’t want any more trouble from people trying to take Tobi away from her. Lately, too many had claimed that he wasn’t her child, and she hated the feeling of constantly having to prove herself.
“Yes, Mummy. I don’t like apples anymore,” Tobi said in his small voice, making Rose laugh.
“Okay, dear. Bye-bye now,” she waved as Tobi ran inside the school.
Rose took a deep breath, her earlier smile fading slightly.
“Today, I need to meet the recruits joining my movie company,” she muttered to herself.
She and Mr. Kelvin had made a lot of progress with the company. Even though they didn’t meet often, she found herself talking to him frequently.
And most of the time, she did it when Rolan wasn’t around.
She didn’t know why she did that, but she had a gut feeling that Rolan would cause a scene.
With one last lingering thought, she walked to the car, where Rolan was already seated as the driver.
“What took you so long?” Rolan immediately asked.
“It’s none of your business,” Rose said, making Rolan chuckle.
“Take me somewhere,” Rose added, and Rolan raised a brow.
“Where to?” he inquired, glancing at her.
Rose told him the location.
“That far?”
“It’s none of your business. Just drive.”
Rolan smirked but started the engine, following the directions Rose had given him.
…
The tall buildings ahead, now fully furnished, held an urban charm in the middle of a small green town.
Rose stepped out of the car and looked around. A line of people stood outside—men and women of different ages, some mature, others teenagers around 18 or 19.
“Good morning, ma’am,” a teenage girl greeted politely.
Rose smiled at her.
