Chapter 63: An undisciplined actress
The women looked at Rose and Rolan standing beside her, murmuring among themselves.
“Look, he’s so handsome! And she’s so pretty. Her face is flawless. Why does her hair look so healthy?”
As Rose and Rolan passed, a smirk tugged at the corner of Rolan’s lips.
“See? Those girls think I’m handsome. They might take me away from you,” he teased, his eyes fixed on Rose, waiting for her reaction.
Rose rolled her eyes, unwilling to entertain his arrogance, but then she controlled herself and turned to him with a sly smile.
“You were never mine. They’re free to take you away for all I care.”
Rolan’s smirk faded instantly. The tables had turned—now she was the one smiling.
—
The two buildings looked very different from what Rose had seen before. It was no longer just an empty space—it now resembled a professional film company. The once-abandoned corner had transformed into a modern masterpiece, yet it still held the charm of an old Gothic estate.
All the necessary equipment had already been purchased, from cameras to lighting and everything else required for a proper company setup.
A man dressed in white approached her. The moment Rose saw him, she sensed he was one of Mr. Kelvin’s people—after all, that man loved making his workers wear white.
“What a strange man,” Rose muttered under her breath, rolling her eyes with a small smile.
“Madam, there’s something I need to inform you,” the worker in white said respectfully.
“Go ahead,” Rose responded.
“The judges that Mr. Kelvin selected for you are in the other room, about to start the auditions. Mr. Kelvin requested that you stay there with them, so in the future, the actors and actresses won’t mistake the judges as the company owners.”
Rose nodded. Mr. Kelvin was always thinking ahead, preparing for everything before issues even arose.
“Don’t worry, I’ll be there in a short while.”
As the worker left, Rolan, who had been silently observing the conversation, suddenly asked,
“Who is Mr. Kelvin?”
“My business partner,” Rose answered without looking at him, already predicting where his question was headed.
“Business partner, I see.”
The way he said it, the words rolling lazily off his tongue, made Rose slightly raise a brow. But instead of engaging, she ignored him and walked into the room where she was supposed to be.
…
“You can’t just ignore me like that.”
Before she could react, Rolan suddenly pinned her to the wall.
“What—?!” Rose gasped, eyes widening in shock.
Her heart pounded. This was not the place for something like this! What if someone saw them? What would her future employees think if their boss was pinned to the wall by a man—especially in public?
She couldn’t allow herself to be seen like this.
“Rolan, know your limits. You’ve gone too far with this,” she said through gritted teeth, her gaze trembling with warning.

“I see… So I don’t know my limits?” Rolan mused, feigning innocence.
Rose let out a sharp hiss.
At times, he was like the devil, always looking for ways to get under her skin. She didn’t like that part of him—acting like a pest around her.
“You’ll regret this if you don’t let me go right now,” she threatened.
Rolan looked into her eyes, trying to see if she was serious. Her gaze was ice-cold, and it was clear she was up to something.
Reluctantly, he let go of her. He didn’t want to find out what cruel action she had planned for him next.
“And that’s how it should be, Mr. Rolan. Know your limits,” Rose said firmly.
Dusting herself off, she turned and walked into the room, not sparing him another glance.
Rolan smirked awkwardly before following her in.
…
The audition room was large and well-furnished. As Rose stepped inside, she noticed four judges already seated—two women and two men. They looked mature and experienced, older than her.
Rose swallowed as a sense of awkwardness crept in. Mr. Kelvin had chosen professionals. She needed to handle this properly—there was no room for mistakes.
She straightened her posture and approached them, clasping her hands together.
“Greetings, sir and madam,” Rose said politely.
One of the female judges, a tall woman with long black hair, wearing a sleek green suit, nodded at her.
“Greetings to you as well.”
The other judges followed suit.
“You’re highly welcome.”
“It’s lovely to see you.”
Rose nodded in return and took a seat. Coincidentally, there was an empty chair beside her, and Rolan casually sat down next to her.
She glanced at him quickly, only for
Rolan expression to sour when he saw her pretending not to notice his presence beside her.
Their silent exchange went unnoticed as the first set of young actors and actresses walked into the room.
The first girl to audition was tall, dressed in purple, with a very pretty face. If she had decent acting skills, she could become a top star in the industry.
The judges handed her a script, and she began reading her lines.
Her voice was lifeless. Her expressions were stiff—like a mother in a fairytale forcing herself to be kind.
The judges’ expressions turned into a collective frown. Rose smiled awkwardly, unsure how to react. Even though she wasn’t a judge, she could tell the performance was terrible.
“Sorry, but your acting is quite bad. You need more practice,” one of the female judges said.
Rose nodded in agreement.
The young actress’s expression twisted into frustration, and then, suddenly, she turned to Rose, pointing a finger at her.
“Who are you sitting there like a judge? And who gave you the right to judge me?”
Rose was caught off guard.
Just as she was about to respond, Rolan cut in, his aura turning sharp.
“It would be wise if you left on your own,” he warned.
The girl flinched, her confidence crumbling under the pressure of his presence. Trembling, she hurriedly stepped back, her humiliation obvious as she turned and rushed out of the audition room.
Rose turned to Rolan, her glare cold.
“I didn’t need your help. I could have handled her myself. You know that, right?”
Rolan shrugged.
“I know, but I just wanted to show off.”
Rose gawked at him, stunned by his shamelessness.
Meanwhile, the judges watched their interaction with curiosity, though neither of them seemed to notice.
One of the judges cleared his throat.
“Attention, Miss Rose,” the male judge said. He looked like a middle-aged man.
Rose snapped out of her thoughts, ignoring Rolan. She nodded at the judge and quickly apologized.
“Sorry, sir. I didn’t mean to be disrespectful.”
The man nodded in acknowledgment before continuing.
Meanwhile, the female actress who had just exited the audition room looked shaken. As she walked out, the other actors and actresses waiting outside took one look at her pale face and felt a shiver run down their spines.
What had happened inside that room to make her look like she had suffered all the grievances of the world?
