Chapter 66: wet and willing
Rose came back to the house after spending a long day with Zara. Her son, Tobi, was still asleep. While he slept, she stared at his small, cute face for a few moments before heading to the parlour. The house felt boring—that was it.
When Tobi was awake, it was just her and her own small world. But when he was asleep, she was left alone in this world. It felt as if she was the only one here, and the loneliness would eat her up.
Lazily, her fingers pressed the remote control in her hand, changing channels repeatedly, but her eyes were dim, lifeless, unaware of what was playing on the screen.
Her mind began to drift back to Rolan. She didn’t want to think about him, but at this moment, she couldn’t help it.
This fake couple act… She had been so caught up in it that she almost forgot the promise she made to herself. She had almost broken it.
She had almost been fooled again by her own emotions.
Rolan was acting so perfect in every way.
Even when he came to her small company, he had acted jealous because of that young man. She had sensed it but ignored it.
He had been playing this game—acting as if he wanted her back—but Rose couldn’t understand why.
Jennifer was the woman he loved. The woman he sacrificed her for.
Things were going in a direction she never expected.
From the moment she woke up and realized she had been reborn, she never expected to see the man she once admired but who always gave her a cold smile… suddenly looking at her with warmth. It was something new. Something fresh.
But it never got to her.
She didn’t know if it was just her body he missed, if that was why he kept coming back. She didn’t know if he simply enjoyed playing two sides.
If it was just her body he wanted…
Rose paused and thought for a moment. If that was truly all he wanted, then maybe she should just give it to him—so he would finally leave her alone.
At least then, she would know.
He wouldn’t come pestering her again. She would be sure that this was all he was after. Her mind would be at peace, and she wouldn’t be stupidly overthinking that this man still had feelings for her.
“You think too much. Don’t think about it. Fate has its course,” Rose heard Yuna’s voice in her mind, and she took a deep breath.
Yeah… she had almost forgotten that she had a wolf.
Rolan’s presence in her life was so overwhelming that she barely paid attention to Yuna anymore. She always sensed her wolf’s presence, but when it came to actually speaking to her, she forgot.
“I want to forget about it, Yuna. I want to forget everything. But how can I?” she mumbled bitterly.
Yuna appeared beside her, the wolf’s spirit materializing in the dimly lit room.
“The best way is to close your eyes and go to sleep. Then you’ll forget everything,” Yuna’s voice this time was cold, and Rose let out an awkward smile.
Maybe Yuna was right. Maybe sleep was the answer.
Maybe if she just closed her eyes, everything would fade away. Every problem would disappear, just like water slipping through her fingers.
“Thank you, Yuna,” Rose muttered, her eyes closing as she slumped onto the couch.
Her hair spilled over the cushions as she slowly drifted off, surrendering to the silence.
The room was now still, as if no woman and her wolf had ever spoken there at all.

Only the TV was making noise.
Bodies tensed, and Rose heard it.
She snapped her eyes open, blinking twice as she tried to shake off the haze of sleep.
She had heard a noise—like the windows cracking and something crashing down.
Rose still couldn’t process everything until she felt a sharp heat spreading in her abdomen.
“Ahh…” she moaned, almost like a cry.
Sweat quickly formed on her forehead, and her fingers clenched the couch as she tried to endure whatever was building inside her.
Her mind was still foggy, but her heart didn’t forget to check the real danger—something had gotten into her house. That crash had been anything but normal.
Tobi was still sleeping. She needed to be cautious. This wasn’t the time to be selfish and focus on the uncomfortable heat rising inside her.
She turned to the place where the sound had come from.
But… nothing.
Her gaze dropped to the open window. It was as if someone—or something—had fallen inside but tumbled back out.
The space was left wide open.
Before whatever it was had a chance to crawl back in, she needed to close the window and secure the house.
With that thought, Rose hurried to the window, dragging the couch with her.
“Ahhh!” Rose gasped, her body suddenly crushed against the couch.
Her breath hitched. Pressure pinned her down.
Instinctively, she had squeezed her eyes shut, but when she forced them open, she found herself staring into his face.
Rolan.
It was him.
His wet hair dripped onto his face, his soaked shirt clinging to his toned, muscular body.
“Rolan, what are you doing here?” she asked harshly, suddenly snapping back to her senses. Why was he here? He had just come from Jennifer.
But the heat inside her… it was getting worse.
With him this close, she was burning up—badly.
What is this feeling?
Her mind scrambled for answers, but nothing made sense.
“Can you feel it?” His hoarse voice was low, close, teasing.
Feel what?
She didn’t understand what he was talking about.
As if he could see the confusion in her eyes, Rolan reached forward, cupping her face.
“Can’t you feel it?”
The moment his hand touched her skin, a sharp jolt ran through her, like prickling thorns pressing against her flesh.
If he kept touching her, she would melt.
If he let go, she would bleed.
She hated this.
She hated how much she wanted him to touch her.
Am I being weak for my ex?
“You should go, Rolan. You shouldn’t be here,” she muttered, barely holding onto what little self-control she had left.
She was burning up.
She needed his touch.
“You don’t know how hard I’m holding back from taking you right here and now.”
His husky voice sent a tremor down her spine. His darkened eyes flickered as they watched her.
“You just came from Jennifer,” she hissed, turning her face away.
She refused to look at him.
She refused to let him see how much she was breaking.
“I don’t know… I just went to her… I woke up locked in her room, and I broke out through the window. I came straight to you. It felt like you were calling me.”
What was he saying?
Rose stared at him, her mind racing. When did I call him?
Where is Yuna?
Yuna had been silent for too long.
She was the only one who might understand what was happening. And this feeling—the overwhelming heat—Rose could sense it coming from Yuna too.
“You’re in heat.”
Rolan tilted his head, rubbing his thumb against her lips.
She wanted to protest, to curse at him—but when she opened her mouth, his finger slipped inside, pressing against her tongue.
Saliva pooled in her mouth, and she swallowed involuntarily.
“You’re in heat,” he repeated. “I know you want to deny it, but your body won’t lie.”
Rose’s eyes widened as she felt his hand slide lower.
Before she could react, his fingers slipped beneath her panties, brushing against her most sensitive spot.
” you are wet and willing. You’re ready and wet for me,” he said cockily, his voice husky with desire.
