Chapter 70: Money always talks
Rose closed her eyes, then opened them again, rubbing them repeatedly. She yawned, feeling drowsy.
Mr. Kelvin, seated beside her, kept glancing at her. Every time Rose rubbed her eyes to clear away the exhaustion, he seemed to notice.
Why was she feeling this way?
Rose laughed mockingly in her mind.
She had promised herself never to have anything to do with Rolan again. Though he came around from time to time, she kept her distance and avoided getting involved with him.
The heat that had overwhelmed her that day was only the beginning. It struck again, even harder. She struggled against Rolan, refusing to give in. She endured the unbearable pull of the mate bond, no matter how painful it was. In the end, she and Yuna had cried in the bathroom, the unresolved heat causing unbearable pain.
That was why she looked so drained these days. She had just dropped Tobi off at school after showering him with kisses.
And now, here she was, holding an interview for her company.
Rose frowned. She wasn’t happy about this. Her movie company was supposed to remain a secret for a while, but now the media had somehow discovered it.
It felt like someone was trying to sabotage her, using the press to expose her.
She had been resting in the bathtub, soaking in cold water filled with ice, when she received a call from Mr. Kelvin. He informed her that an interview had been scheduled because the company had been exposed.
Rose groaned, grinding her teeth in frustration. She got out of the bathtub quickly, wiping herself down. She was already clean from soaking, so there was no need to scrub herself again.
She threw on an iron-pink suit and rushed over in a taxi.
When she arrived, she was met with a crowd—journalists, photographers, and media personnel swarming the place.
Rose’s face twisted in irritation. How had they found this location? Who was behind this?
She just wanted to live her life in peace. Couldn’t there be a smooth path to success without all these obstacles?
Would the perfect life she dreamed of ever come true?
“You’ve been looking dead for quite some time now. Control yourself—you’re in front of the media,” Mr. Kelvin’s voice snapped her out of her thoughts.
Quickly, she ran a hand through her hair, brushing it back into a stylish look that highlighted her delicate features. It was hard for anyone to tell how pale she was—unless they were as close to her as Mr. Kelvin.
“Mrs. Rose, are you the owner of the new movie company that just launched?” a female reporter asked.
“Mrs. Rose, is the man beside you your husband, Mr. Kelvin Klein?” another male reporter questioned, his eyes shifting between her and Kelvin.
The questions came in a flood.
Rose licked her lips, feeling her mouth go dry.
She wanted to answer them, but where could she even start?
“Just answer them,” she heard Mr. Kelvin’s voice near her.
Rose turned to look at him, then gave a slight nod.
“This movie company is mine,” she said. “Something new that I built.
I really don’t know how you all discovered it. It was meant to be a secret.”
Her lips curved into a small smile as her eyes swept over the two reporters questioning her—along with the many others surrounding them.

A shiver ran down the reporters’ spines. They felt like rats that had accidentally stumbled into a lion’s den.
If any of her plans were ruined, they were partly to blame.
“Hehe… Mrs. Rose, what future plans do you have for this company?” another reporter asked awkwardly, attempting to change the topic while still doing his job.
When would this end? When would the questions stop?
Rose frowned internally. She was growing more uncomfortable by the second, yet the questions kept coming. They wouldn’t stop.
Let there be a way to finish this once and for all.
“Mrs. Rose, why did you choose to establish your company in such a highly secluded location?” another reporter inquired.
“Do I have to tell you that?” Rose narrowed her eyes in response.
These reporters were like birds—never closing their mouths.
“It’s here because I wanted it to be,” she replied with a smirk, raising an eyebrow at them.
One of the reporters was about to ask another question when Rose’s phone vibrated. She peeked at the screen and immediately stiffened, her face turning pale.
She forced herself to stay composed, gripping the phone tightly in her hands.
What she was seeing made her heartbeat stutter.
It felt like her chest was breaking apart, like her heart was crumbling into tiny pieces.
This wasn’t the time for this.
Rose pushed the emotions aside, forcing herself to focus. Her mood shifted in an instant.
“Do you think your company is legally established?” another reporter asked, unaware of the storm brewing inside her.
“You know what?” Rose suddenly smiled. “I appreciate all your questions, and I’d like to take this chance to make an announcement.”
She let her words linger, ensuring all eyes were on her.
“My company will be hosting a survival show,” she declared.
Only young actors and actresses would be allowed to participate.
And the winner?
“Whoever wins will go home with a grand prize of 20 billion USD.”
It was as if a bomb had exploded.
The reporters gasped, whispering amongst themselves.
Since everyone was making her company sound suspicious, as if there was something shady going on, it was better to turn the situation in her favor. Someone was targeting her company, trying to ruin its image through the media.
But this? This would change everything.
A massive event. A huge prize. A golden opportunity.
The talk of money and an exciting competition would overshadow any suspicions.
Mr. Kelvin glanced at Rose with a raised brow. She quickly met his gaze, then turned back to the reporters, keeping her expression neutral.
Her heart, however, was anything but calm.
“Rolan, you bastard,” Rose cursed internally.
Her fists clenched by her side, hidden from sight.
What she saw on her phone…
It was pictures.
Rolan. And Jennifer. Entwined together.
He kissed her.
He kissed Jennifer as if she was his whole world.
Rose’s stomach churned in disgust.
Those pictures… they were taken on the very day Rolan left her in the studio.
He had gone to Jennifer.
And then, at 12 AM that same night…
He came back to her.
He had kissed her with the same lips he had used to kiss Jennifer.
Disgust.
Betrayal.
Pain.
It crashed into her all at once.
The way he touched her…
He must have touched Jennifer the same way.
Rose looked back at the pictures on her phone, betraying her own urge not to look again.
In one of them, Rolan’s hand was cupping Jennifer’s bosom.
Rose hissed in her heart, but her expression remained stern. On the outside, no one would suspect a thing.
The only thing they would sense was that she was a serious businesswoman, completely unfazed.
Rolan, I don’t regret this.
I hope this is the last time we ever cross paths.
“So, Mrs. Rose, about that event… is it only for actors and actresses? Can’t retired performers join as well?”
A short female reporter asked, her voice hopeful.
Rose chuckled.
Money talks. It always talks.
But the real question was—how was she supposed to gather 20 billion USD?
