Chapter 79: The new man
“Mrs. Rose, you came. Good to see you,” Mr. Kelvin said, sitting on the yacht with his legs crossed, sipping champagne. His eyes held a teasing glint as he stared at Rose.
“Yes, I came because my cash bag called me. How could I not?” Rose folded her arms and stepped toward Mr. Kelvin.
“You’ve got a sharp tongue,” he chuckled, swirling his glass, making the wine inside ripple.
“I’ve always had a sharp tongue. Sorry to say,” Rose replied, unbothered, as she took a seat next to him.
She couldn’t be more pissed. He had called her, making it seem urgent, and she had rushed over, only to find him sitting here, casually drinking wine. She didn’t question the location or anything else, but Mr. Kelvin—he just made her blood boil.
“You have nothing for me?” She raised a brow at him, her eyes filled with hidden disdain.
Mr. Kelvin carried an intoxicated smirk at the corner of his lips.
“Well, I was bored and thought maybe you’d come have fun with me.”
“How old are you, anyway?” Rose scoffed at his words. He was acting like a reckless young man—loose-tongued and carefree.
By now, he should know very well that she hated talking to him unless it was about business.
“Calm down, just chill,” he said lazily.
“By the way, where’s your little brat?”
“He’s not a brat!” Rose snapped as Mr. Kelvin suddenly asked. Tobi was not a brat; he was her precious baby. Why did Rolan and this man see him differently? At least, she could understand Rolan’s perspective, but Mr. Kelvin? The cocky bastard.
Her mind was a mess, unable to comprehend him.
“Your son is indeed a brat… Anyway, do you know how to fish?”
What a ridiculous question, Rose thought. Who would want to fish while a yacht was still moving?
“I do,” Mr. Kelvin replied almost as if he had read her thoughts.
“Hmm, you’re fine but boring,” he said with a dirty smirk.
“I can fish on a moving yacht,” he added, and Rose rolled her eyes, unimpressed.
“I’ll fish now, and you’ll follow,” Mr. Kelvin gestured for Rose to join him.
Rose clenched her fists slightly, muttering curses under her breath before reluctantly following him.
They were now standing at the corner of the yacht, facing the open waters.
“What the—” Rose’s body stiffened as she trembled, staring at the shark that had just leaped out, catching onto Mr. Kelvin’s fishing rod.
“Oh dear, I forgot to mention—there are sharks in these waters,” Mr. Kelvin chuckled, watching her horrified expression.
Rose bit her lip, staring at him as if she wanted to kill him.
“The sharks are… cute. I just think so,” she said, forcing a neutral expression while trying to mask her fear.
She would never let him know she was terrified. He would never be able to read her thoughts.

“Tsk,” Mr. Kelvin barely clicked his tongue, going back with his fishing rod to fish.

“Nice,” he said. “I caught a fish.”
Mr. Kelvin looked at his shaking rod. Rose stared at the rod’s movements, wondering if he had actually caught a fish or something else.
The rod shook more violently as Mr. Kelvin began drawing it out to bring in the catch. Rose panicked at the sight.
“That’s very dangerous! Stop what you’re doing!” Rose exclaimed, eyes wide as she stared at Mr. Kelvin’s actions.
“Why are you panicking?” Mr. Kelvin chuckled, pulling the rod out. Suddenly, a huge shark emerged from the water.
He smirked at that moment before letting the shark fall back in.
“Your expression is priceless,” Mr. Kelvin said, dropping the shark he had just caught.
Rose coughed, not directly responding to his words.
“Excuse me, I need to use the restroom. Where is it?” she asked.
“At the left corner, the first door,” Mr. Kelvin answered.
She only nodded and walked in that direction.
“Wait! I forgot—you’re not supposed to go there!” Mr. Kelvin called after her, but Rose was already too far ahead and didn’t hear him.
“Tsk.”
Rose walked quickly to the spot she was directed to, but when she arrived, there were multiple doors. She almost got confused.
“Which door should I choose?” she muttered, gritting her teeth. Mr. Kelvin was terrible at giving directions.
Still confused, Rose made up her mind and randomly opened one of the doors.
What caught her eye wasn’t a toilet but a quiet, secluded place—almost like a sanctuary for an immortal.
Rose’s eyes widened as she took in the surroundings.
It would be nice to find a decent restroom in here, she thought. She had lied to Mr. Kelvin—she didn’t actually need to pee. She had just wanted an excuse to escape the recent fright. But now, frustration and anxiety were pressing on her bladder for real.
She fully opened the door and walked into the room.
A warm, inviting bed sat in the middle, covered in soft, luxurious white sheets. The decor was elegant and pristine.
Rose coughed, forcing her gaze away from the alluring atmosphere. She quickly spotted a bathroom and rushed toward it.
At last, she found it.
She pushed the door open, not expecting a sudden force to lock her in place.
Rose instinctively closed her eyes, and when she opened them again—
She saw him.
A man, much taller than her, with dark hair, emerald-green eyes, and a perfect jawline.
Rose gawked, unable to stop staring.
It was almost as if she were possessed.
“Who are you? What are you doing here?” the man asked, his deep voice carrying a chilly authority.
“Uh… I’m here to pee. Just to pee,” Rose mumbled, her heart racing. Strangely, she could feel his heartbeat too.
“Mate.”
The word left the man’s lips in a low, firm voice, but his gaze wasn’t one of longing—it was cold, as if he had just found his enemy.
Rose’s soul nearly left her body.
“Excuse me? You said what?” she stammered, staring at him in shock.
“Mate… I’ve found you.”
The man repeated himself in a deeper tone, his hands suddenly cupping her face.
Rose closed her eyes, wanting to resist. Normally, she would have pushed someone away. But this time—
Her body wouldn’t let her.
“What is this…? What’s going on?”
