Chapter 82: my face was almost destroyed with acid
“Excuse me, ma’am. Who is your boyfriend? I don’t know him.”
Rose frowned, her gaze fixed on the young girl standing before her. She looked around eighteen or nineteen—young, pretty, the kind of girl who could easily become an actress in Rose’s company. But none of that mattered.
Not after what she had done.
The heck? Rose cursed for the first time, the weight of the situation crashing down on her. Even her sister Jennifer’s cruelty had never reached this level. At least Jennifer had some semblance of a heart, twisted as it was.
But this girl? She had almost disfigured Rose with acid, all while screaming about some supposed affair with her boyfriend.
What boyfriend?
Rose barely knew four men in her life right now, and she had only ever been involved with one.
Yet, this girl had been ready to destroy her over a man she couldn’t even identify. Which pathetic fool was worth risking everything for?
“Excuse me,” Rose repeated, her tone colder. “I’ll ask again—who is your boyfriend?”
Rose blinked, studying the girl closely.
Several guards were restraining her, preventing her from lunging forward. She looked like she could snap at any moment, wild and furious, like an aggressive beast.
“Maybe you could tell me what happened, okay?” Rose softened her tone, though she stayed rooted in place. Approaching the girl was asking for trouble.
“Don’t act like a saint, b***h! You stole my boyfriend! I saw him worshipping your picture!” the girl spat, venom dripping from her words.
But Rose didn’t flinch.
Worshipping?
Her brows furrowed. That was new—and completely off. What man would be worshipping her picture?
The girl wasn’t even naming names. Just wild accusations, vague and directionless.
This needs to end now.
Rose glanced around, realizing the scene they were causing. They were outside, and passersby were already slowing down, curious eyes locking onto the commotion. If a reporter caught wind of this…
“Guards, bring her in,” Rose ordered, her voice sharp.
Turning on her heel, she headed upstairs.
She couldn’t afford to let gossiping reporters feast on this mess.
…
Finally, inside the room—more like an office—the same girl was tied to a chair.
Rose silently apologized in her heart. She didn’t want to resort to this, but there was no other choice. If the girl wasn’t restrained, someone would end up hurt—most likely Rose herself.
Even tied down, the girl glared at her with fierce, bloodshot eyes. It was almost like she was on drugs. In fact, Rose was starting to believe that might actually be the case.
“Listen,” Rose began, her tone cautious. “Are you clear-headed now? Can you tell me, in detail, who your boyfriend is? What’s his name?”
She spoke slowly, carefully pronouncing each word so the girl wouldn’t misunderstand her again.
She needed to tread carefully.

“Evan. My boyfriend is Evan,” the girl said, her lips curling into a dreamy smile.
“He’s the perfect man, right? His handsome face, his kind personality… He’s everything a woman could ever want.”
Her voice dripped with sultry sweetness as she spoke about Evan, her eyes softening with every word. It was clear—this girl was deeply in love, almost obsessively so.
She must really have a good boyfriend, Rose thought, watching the girl smile like an idiot.
“Well, this boyfriend of yours—where is he? Do you have his number?” Rose asked, keeping her tone neutral.
Calling the boyfriend directly seemed like the best way to clear this mess up.
But the moment the words left Rose’s mouth, the girl’s smile vanished. Her expression twisted into something feral, and she snapped her gaze toward Rose like a beast ready to pounce.
“Stay away from my boyfriend!” the girl shrieked, her body trembling violently, making the chair rattle beneath her.
Rose stepped back, raising her hands in mock surrender.
“Calm down. I’m not trying to steal your boyfriend,” she said, forcing a smile despite the cold sweat forming on her forehead. “I just want you to call him here. Let’s see how much he really loves you.”
Her heart pounded as she waited, hoping her words would be enough to make the girl talk and finally give up her boyfriend’s number.
“Yes! My boyfriend loves me so much. I’ll give you his number and show you how much he cares.”
“Men, bring her phone for her. As you can see, she’s clearly tied up,” Rose said with an awkward smile. The guards nodded and searched the girl’s purse, pulling out her phone.
The girl seemed calmer now, so Rose decided to release her.
“Here’s your phone. You can call your lovely boyfriend for us. Tell him to come here,” Rose said, her tone neutral, without any trace of malice.
The girl, now free, listened to Rose’s words and dialed her boyfriend’s number. When the call connected, she spoke into the phone, her voice soft and sweet.
“Baby, can you come to your workplace?”
Rose furrowed her brow. Your workplace?
So, the girl’s boyfriend was one of her employees? That revelation made Rose even more curious. Now, she really wanted to see this so-called boyfriend.
“My boyfriend will be here any moment,” the girl said with a smile, looking at Rose proudly.
Rose nodded back, forcing a polite smile.
…
Half an hour passed before the sound of the door opening drew their attention. A tall, blonde-haired man stepped inside.
Rose looked up and immediately recognized him.
Wasn’t this the young, promising actor she had once praised? The same one she’d personally advocated for, convincing the judges to let him work in her company?
“Mrs. Rose,” the guy called, his eyes still carrying shock and confusion as he saw Rose and his girlfriend standing there.
“Stephany?” he said, turning to the girl.
Rose silently confirmed that the girl, Stephany, had indeed been telling the truth about knowing him.
“Mr. Evan, your girlfriend here seems to have some misunderstandings with me. It would be nice if you could clear them up. She claimed she saw you worshipping my photo. Can you explain what that’s about?”
Evan stared at Rose’s serious face, noticing the absence of her usual polite smile.
“Ah… sorry about that,” Evan started, rubbing the back of his neck, a soft blush creeping onto his cheeks. “It’s just… a family thing. Well, kind of my fault. You accepted me as your employee, so I… uh, worship you as a goddess.” His voice softened, and his eyes sparkled with sincerity.
Rose’s lips parted slightly in disbelief, but she quickly composed herself.
“Did you hear that, Stephany?” Rose said dryly. “Your boyfriend was only worshipping me as a goddess.”
“Yes, Stephany,” Evan added, pulling his girlfriend into a hug. Rose instinctively looked away from the display of affection.
“Mrs. Rose is our benefactor. We should worship her together!” Evan declared, as though it was the most obvious thing in the world.
An awkward smile tugged at Rose’s lips. What the hell is wrong with these two?
“Yes, Miss Rose! You’ve helped us, and it’s our duty to help you,” Stephany chimed in, her eyes now shining with admiration instead of anger.
Rose studied the girl carefully. There was no longer any trace of the furious, drugged-looking mess from earlier.
So, she was just a jealous fool. That’s all.
