Chapter 83: Flowers To my mate?
“Mummy, the water is too warm… cold water, cold water! I want cold water!” Tobi cheered in the bathtub, playing with his duck, making water spill over the edge.
Rose sighed, rolling her eyes. Little Tobi had been crying that he wanted to bathe in cold water. Cold water. It would be winter soon, and in the coming days, kids would easily get sick. But Tobi kept insisting. Was it because he was a werewolf that he wanted cold water? She couldn’t understand her son’s sudden craving.
“Cold water is not good for you, Tobi. It’s not good for you,” Rose smiled, holding Tobi’s feet to pinch them playfully.
“But cold water! I just want cold water!” Tobi giggled, splashing the water. Rose couldn’t help but rub her hand over his flat tummy, slick with water. There were still little bits of foam here and there.
“Wow, now you’re all clean… Cold water will make you dirty. Do you want to be a dirty boy, huh, Tobi?” Rose teased, trying to outsmart him.
Tobi shook his head, believing her words.
Rose smiled, lifting him out of the bathtub.
“Come on, which one do you want to wear today? Is it Ben 10, SpongeBob, or PJ Masks superheroes?”
“I want to wear SpongeBob!” Tobi cheered, listening carefully to Rose’s words.
Rose smiled, opening the bathroom door and heading into the bedroom. She rubbed cream on him, then opened the drawer to check for his PJ Masks clothes, leaving Tobi on the bed.
“Okay, dear, Mummy has seen your pajamas,” she said.
“Come on,” Rose called to the little boy, walking to the bed where Tobi sat, looking at her curiously.
“Mummy.”
“What is it, honey? Why do you always call my name before saying anything?”
Tobi stared at her with big, round eyes.
“Stop looking at me like that,” Rose said, feeling flustered.
Her child was just too cute.
“Mummy, it’s the weekend. Won’t we go to the amusement park? You promised…”
He pouted his cheeks, looking at her expectantly.
Rose smiled awkwardly, memories rushing back. Oh, yeah. She had promised Tobi, but she completely forgot because she had too much to do.
Now that she remembered, there was no escaping it.
“No worries! Mommy will take you to the amusement park… but it’s still so late now.”
It was just 12 a.m., and Tobi had woken up from the heat. His body was sweating too much—he was burning up. She thought of bathing him, but not with cold water, only hot water. She believed cold water would make him sick. If it had been any worse, she would have called the doctor to check on him and find out what was wrong. But Tobi acted normal, except for his discomfort from the excessive heat he was feeling.
“It’s 12 a.m., I need to sleep,” Tobi licked his lips slightly, yawning while looking out of the window. Seeing that it was still dark outside, he crawled to the other side of the bed. Rose smiled in her heart, watching his little movements. He was so cute the way he crawled back to his spot.
“Good night, Mummy,” he said, showing his clean white teeth.
“Good night, son,” Rose smiled, responding to him. She rubbed his cheek gently.
Rose sighed, closing her eyes. Tomorrow, she would take him to the amusement park. It was what she had promised him, and she wouldn’t break her promise.
…
“Mummy! Mummy!”

Rose forced her eyes open as she heard someone calling her name repeatedly.
It was Tobi. He kept calling her name over and over again. He had woken up early this morning, and he hadn’t forgotten his mummy’s promise—he was going to the amusement park.
He giggled as he continued shaking Rose to wake her up.
“Yeah… the amusement park… what time is it?” Rose mumbled sleepily, sitting up on the bed. She turned to Tobi, looking at him.
“Mummy, it’s 6 a.m.,” Tobi said, looking at his small wristwatch. Rose almost forgot that Zara had bought him that watch.
“We should go back to sleep. It’s the weekend,” Rose yawned, falling back onto the bed and pulling the sheets over herself.
Tobi pouted his lips, watching her actions with disappointment.
“Mummy, wake up! Mummy, wake up!
You promised! Amusement park! Amusement park!”
Tobi chanted, looking at Rose with big, pleading eyes.
“The pain and hardship of having a kid… this is it,” Rose sighed in her heart, deciding to get up. She couldn’t let her precious son bug her for too long. She hadn’t given him much attention these days, and she didn’t want to break her promise.
“Oh, come on, let’s clean up,” Rose said.
Tobi giggled, getting off the bed.
As he got off the bed, Rose let him out of the room.
—
A few hours later, Rose was just serving Tobi his dinner when a knock came from the door.
“Mummy, I’ll get the door for you!” Tobi beamed enthusiastically, but Rose shook her head.
“son, stay here. Let Mummy find out who’s at the door.”
Tobi continued eating the moment he heard what she said, and Rose went to the door. She peeked through the peephole and saw a delivery man standing outside. Since it was a delivery, she opened the door.
To her surprise, the man stood there holding a bouquet of flowers and a box of chocolates.
Her brows furrowed in confusion.
“Greetings, you might be at the wrong place,” she said.
“No, this is the right place. The package is addressed to this room and recipient,” the delivery man responded.
Rose couldn’t deny it anymore—her name had already been mentioned. Awkwardly, she collected the present from the delivery man. He handed her a paper to sign, and once she did, he finally left.
Rose looked at the flower bouquet in her hands and then noticed a small note attached to it.
She read it.
“From me to my mate.
— Damien.”
Rose stared at the paper, her thoughts swirling in her mind. The message on the note continued:
“Don’t throw the flowers in the trash.”
