Chapter 88: Rage: he’s not my f*** mate
Rolan clenched his hand on his knee controlling himself from holding Rose right there and now to punish her and he could just throw Tobi out of the car.
Not long after, Rose was silent in the car. No one was talking.
The car started making noise. No one had time to react. They felt their bodies wanting to go up in the air and leave the car seat where they sat.
The car was levitating over the air.
Rose’s eyes widened, her hands searched for Tobi. With how uncomfortable she was feeling, her instincts told her to find Tobi and protect him from whatever was going on.
She sensed this was a serious accident that was occurring. Still, with the shaking of the car and the turbulent activities, everything was disorganized.
“Rose, kiddo,” Rolan called.
With no time to react, he wanted to move his body, stop everything, get themselves out of there, but they were already falling.
The car fell from the bridge, going down… and there was a cliff below.
Rose kept gasping for breath, her mind unstable. Her hands found Tobi, and she held him. Tobi had spat out from the first impact that came like levitation, trying to lift them up from the car.
Her poor son… Rolan…
This wasn’t the time to think about Rolan, Rose told herself.
She must stay awake. She wished to stay awake, but that almost seemed impossible. The car was falling off the bridge, and below, there was a cliff.
“We will stay safe,” Rose muttered, closing her eyes.
The best thing in such a situation was to close your eyes, as if everything happening around you wasn’t happening. Those who kept their eyes open, looking danger directly in the eye, would die faster. Rose closed her eyes, and everything went blank.
Only the faint noise of air—yes, air—made sounds in her ears before everything went dark.
Emotions stopped. Everything else stopped. It was just quiet, as if nothing had happened.
Thirty minutes later, or more, when the car had crashed, Rose opened her eyes slowly, like a person whose eyes had been glued shut.
In her arousal, her body rose up. Her hand clenched soft grass—yes, soft grass. Her hands on the grass put on some force, and as she pushed herself up, she almost rose, but a striking pain from her spine and leg made her stop, sending her straight back to the ground.
“Ahhh!” she let out a sharp cry, causing her to blink twice, little droplets of tears forming in her eyes. Then she finally snapped them open.
Her son.
Her heart raced. That was the only thing that made her open her eyes—to stay strong.
And Rolan came afterward. She wouldn’t want a whole pack chasing her as the murderer of their Alpha.
A cold breeze blew at that moment as Rose gathered her courage, standing up.
The striking pain came again in her leg and spine. Rose only grimaced for a few seconds before forcing herself to move.
There was a wrecked car lying there. Her gaze shifted. The car doors were open. She guessed that’s why she was out here in the grass and not inside the car.
“Rolan!”
Rose called, seeing Rolan coming from a place she didn’t know. His shirt was ripped, and there was blood on it.
His hair was messy, and he had a cut on his face. Rose squinted her eyes at him first before frowning.
“Where is my son?”

Rose looked around again. She still didn’t see Tobi.
Rolan didn’t respond immediately. Rose gave him a sharp glance before staggering toward the car door, checking inside.
At the back seat where all three of them had sat, there was no Tobi. He wasn’t there.
Rose’s hand, holding the broken car door, shook for a moment before she took a deep breath and let go, staggering back to Rolan.
“Where is Tobi, Rolan? I know that you don’t like my son for some reason. Where is my son?”
Rose pinched Rolan and hit at him.
Rolan held her hand, stopping that punch from reaching him.
Though she was just a woman, she was still a she-wolf. She could hurt him.
“Calm down. Control yourself,” Rolan breathed in and stared at her fiercely.
“We will find Tobi. I don’t know… maybe he was flung out of the car when it was falling. The car doors were all open. Even I was in a different location. I only traced and found you by your scent.”
Rolan’s hand held her tightly, as if scared she would hit him the moment he let go.
“You should have found Tobi. You should have gone to find him first!” Rose yelled, fists pulling from his grip.
“You should have gone to find Tobi… not me, Rolan! I would have been better!”
Tears spilled from her eyes as she mumbled.
Rolan looked at her with an expression she couldn’t read.
“He is not a person whose scent I can track, Rose. He is not my FUCKING mate!” Rolan roared.
Silence.
“Sorry, Rose.”
His gaze shifted, not looking at her.
Rose stared at him, dumbfounded.
“I should be sorry. I shouldn’t have raged at you. I just want to find Tobi. He is the one that matters right now,” Rose wiped her tears, turning her back on Rolan, clenching her fists.
She glanced at the wrecked car, then down at her appearance—unkempt and torn.
“We should go look for him.”
Rolan’s footsteps sounded closer.
“Are you willing to help me?” She turned swiftly, looking at him.
Rolan looked at her, his eyes serious.
“Yes, I’m willing to help you.”
“Really?” Rose’s gaze deepened as she questioned him.
“Really.”
Rolan smirked.
Rose stared at that smirk, slightly frowning, then nodded.
“It’s good. Then from now on, we are a team.”
Her voice hesitated as she said those words, but it was too late—she had already said it.
“Yeah.”
“Son, Mommy will find you,” Rose whispered to herself, glancing slightly at Rolan, who was standing over there.
