Chapter 89: Crazy bastard
“Tobi,” Rose called in a low voice. She wanted to give up, but they had already been searching for a long time in this dark, eerie place. Something felt off, and she couldn’t shake the unease creeping up her spine. Tobi couldn’t be left alone here any longer—she needed to find him, fast.
“Calm down,” Rolan said, jumping down from the tree where he had been standing.
Rose frowned. “Calm down, Rolan? Can you hear yourself? Any moment of hesitation could take my son away from me, and you want me to relax?”
“Calm down,” Rolan repeated, taking a step closer to her.
Annoyed, Rose scowled, then turned away, continuing her search. The road stretched far into the distance, barely distinguishable from the overgrown terrain. A narrow path, with patches of arid soil and wild bushes, made it look less like a road and more like a forgotten trail.
“Where are you going, Rose?”
Rolan’s voice carried as he moved with inhuman speed, reaching for her wrist. His grip was firm, yet not forceful.
“To look for my son.” Rose turned, glaring at him, trying to pull her wrist free. She was too restless, too on edge. Tobi had been missing for over an hour—too long. She couldn’t waste another second.
“You need to calm down and not rush blindly into this place.” Does she want to get herself eaten? Rolan thought. Even if she’s a wolf, she’s just an Omega. He kept his concerns to himself but tightened his grip slightly.
Rose’s breath hitched. “Are you trying to keep me captive, Rolan?” Her eyes burned like fierce flames from the abyss.
“No. I won’t let you go because it’s dangerous.”
“I said let me go!” she burst out, struggling against his hold. But his grip remained unyielding, restraining her completely.
What is this? Rose’s thoughts raced with frustration. Rolan, don’t make me hate you more. I need to find my son—our son. He is the most important thing to me. If anything happens to him, I’ll never forgive you.
“If you still want even the slightest place in my life, Rolan, then let me go.”
Rolan’s eyes flickered, his grip loosening as her words hit him hard. Finally, he released her wrist. “Forgive me, Rose,” he murmured, his gaze meeting hers.
“It’s no problem,” she said, though something twisted in her stomach. This is awkward. I didn’t ask for this. And now, you’re looking at me with those cold eyes again. Just help me find my son—don’t do anything that will make me hate you.
“I wanted to go alone to find him, but since you insist…” Rose let out a low chuckle before quickly averting her gaze, as if she hadn’t said anything.
Rolan stared at her for a long moment before clearing his throat. “Let’s go, then.” He took the first step toward the path.
“You really are fearless, Rolan,” Rose said, her tone teasing but with a hint of curiosity. “What is it that you’re not afraid of?”
She had never seen Rolan act like a coward before—so what had changed?
“Facing an unknown creature is nothing compared to the burning hell I’d go through for you, Rose.”
“Okay, shut up. I made a mistake asking you,” Rose said, looking at Rolan with a smile that didn’t reach her cheeks.
Rolan: “…”
What now? He couldn’t understand her mood. He knew she was pissed and worried about her son, but she should have at least blushed a little at his flirtatious words.
—
“Why is it suddenly raining?” Rose looked up as heavy water poured from the sky, chilling her to the bone. The rain was relentless, soaking everything in its path.
“We should find shelter,” Rolan said, clasping her wrist and pulling her along before she could react.
“Don’t hold me like that. I don’t need your protection from the rain,” Rose growled, yanking her wrist free.
Too touchy. I’m already feeling hot inside, uncomfortable. I need distance from him right now.
“Don’t act silly, Rose. Let’s find somewhere safe,” Rolan frowned, reaching for her hand again, but Rose slapped it away instantly, making something bitter settle in his chest.

“I said don’t touch me. Don’t you understand? I want to find shelter too, but must you hold me like that?” Rose snapped before storming off to find a place to build shelter.
“Rolan…” Rose called out suddenly, her legs freezing in place.
Of all times, of all FUCKING times, why does it have to be right now that I run into a FUCKING panther?!
She cursed internally, realizing that she had been too caught up in arguing with Rolan to notice where they had wandered. They had stepped right into a panther’s territory.
“Rose, don’t move,” Rolan whispered.
She swallowed hard and nodded.
She’s surprisingly obedient in the face of danger, Rolan chuckled to himself.
The panther was staring them down, its massive body tense. It was twice the size of a werewolf, Rose guessed, and right now, fear gripped her entirely. Her legs refused to move. This was the kind of fear that locked her body in place—whenever she faced true danger, her limbs lost all function.
The beast will strike at any moment if I don’t act first, Rolan thought.
In an instant, his clothes vanished, and a red light engulfed him as he shifted into his wolf form.
A massive, silver-furred werewolf now stood in his place, its large paws sinking slightly into the wet ground.
Rose turned and gulped.
Oh, it’s just Rolan. Calm down, Rose. I didn’t realize they were this big… she thought, now stuck between two giant creatures.
Rolan took a step forward, preparing for battle—only for the panther to suddenly sprint away.
Rolan: “…”
Where was his chance to show off as a capable Alpha?
“Well, you scared it away,” Rose said with a smirk, secretly thanking God in her heart. She didn’t want a bloody battle. Rolan needed to stay strong so they could find Tobi.
“Rolan, why are you looking at me like that? Stop staring,” Rose muttered, confused by his unmoving gaze. The rain was now pouring even harder.
“Hey!” she snapped, but Rolan didn’t respond. His eyes had drifted lower—too low.
Following his gaze, she realized exactly what he was looking at.
Oh hell no.
“Crazy bastard,” she gritted her teeth before landing a swift slap across his face.
“You dare think about that when we’re supposed to be searching for my son?!”
“What, Bunny? You can’t blame me. It’s just… your clothes,” Rolan said, pointing at her chest.
Rose followed his finger and froze.
The rain had completely soaked her clothes, making her bra clearly visible. Worse, she had worn a thin, lightweight one today—nothing padded, nothing reinforced.
She clenched her fists.
I’m going to kill him.
“I’ll kill you!” Rose grew even more pissed and chased after Rolan, seeing that he was hell-bent on staring at her.
Rolan, dodging her attack, quickly ran off and cleverly found tools to build a shelter using logs and leaves.
Rose calmed down as she watched him working hard. With a sigh, she simply sat down, crossing her legs, the rain still soaking her while Rolan continued building.
