Chapter 109: Lin Xiao Feng’s Return

After more than a month of busying himself with his project in Capital City, Lin Xiao Feng was finally able to free his time and went back to Y City. He went home first to look for his grandfather before going to look for his wife next door.

As soon as Lin Xiao Feng walked into the courtyard, he noticed An Nuan’s nephew, An Yi Ran was crouched next to the large tree. Lin Xiao Feng observed the little boy for a while before walking over.

“An Yi Ran,” Lin Xiao Feng called and watched as the young boy turned to look at him. “What are you doing?”

The little boy’s eyes turned crescent when he saw Lin Xiao Feng. “Little Uncle.”

Lin Xiao Feng’s smile turned gentler.

He always felt that ‘Little Uncle’ sounded better than ‘Uncle Lin’.

“Little Uncle, when did you arrive?” An Yi Ran asked.

“Just now.” Lin Xiao Feng crouched next to the little boy. “What are you doing?”

An Yi Ran shifted his gaze to the ground and showed Lin Xiao Feng the thing that had caught his attention a while ago.

Lin Xiao Feng followed his line of gaze and saw that the little boy was looking at a spider on the tree trunk. “Why are you playing here alone?”

“Well, Mom was busy talking with Grandma. And Dad was with Grandpa in the study.”

“What about your aunt?”

“Little Aunt went out earlier to meet her friend.”

Lin Xiao Feng guessed that An Nuan might be out with Ren Di.

He could not help feeling a bit disappointed.

Lin Xiao Feng came over early hoping to see his wife sooner. The last time he saw her face to face was in Capital City a few months ago. These days, he could only see An Nuan when they had their usual video call.

“Little Uncle, should we go inside?” An Yi Ran said. “Grandma made some cakes. Let’s eat together.”

An Yi Ran already had a few pieces of cake earlier before his mother reminded him not to eat too much. Now that his little Uncle had shown up, An Yi Ran was hoping that he would be able to grab a few more bites.

Even if he could not see An Nuan now, he should visit his in-laws. Moreover, he could wait for An Nuan until she returned.

An Yi Ran held Lin Xiao Feng’s hands and the two of them went into the house together.

“Grandmother!” An Yi Ran called happily as they were approaching the common room. “Look who is here?”

Shi Xi was chatting with her daughter-in-law when she heard her grandson’s voice. She turned around and saw that An Yi Ran walked into the room with her son-in-law following closely.

The light in Shi Xi’s eyes lit up. “Xiao Feng, when did you get here?”

“Just now.” Lin Xiao Feng flashed a smile as he greeted the two women before him.

“Nuan Nuan mentioned that you will return this week. I didn’t expect you to come this early,” Shi Xi said. “This girl. She should tell me that you are coming back early.”

“Mmm… I did not tell An Nuan that I’m taking the earliest flight today,” Lin Xiao Feng answered.

Shi Xi smiled. From Lin Xiao Feng’s words, Shi Xi could guess that her son-in-law came to find her daughter the moment he returned to Y City. Moreover, it seemed that he wanted to give An Nuan a surprise.

“An Nuan went out to meet a few friends from her school,” Shi Xi said. “She should return in the afternoon. Xiao Feng, why don’t you stay around for a while? Nuan Nuan’s father was supposed to pick her up later. But if you are free, you can go and pick up An Nuan instead?”

The light in Lin Xiao Feng’s eyes lit up. “Alright.” He immediately agreed. Lin Xiao Feng thought that he could use this chance to meet An Jian as the two of them had a lot they wanted to discuss.

Her good friend from high school, Liu Qing, had returned to Y City after staying abroad for a long time. Seeing that a few of them planned to meet up, An Nuan decided to join as well.

The moment An Nuan walked into the private room, Ann Nuan noticed that the chattering voice had died down. With the way the girls were glancing at her, An Nuan guessed that everyone was talking about her.

A few of them had shown up at her wedding a few months ago and witnessed how she had changed the groom.

Now that they had seen her, An Nuan could guess that they were talking about her wedding.

An Nuan put a smile on her face and pretended as if she had not noticed their glance. She swept her eyes around the room and finally saw the person she was looking for. “Qing Qing!”

Liu Qing turned around upon hearing her name. Her expression lit up the moment she saw An Nuan. “Nuan Nuan!” She waved her hand, motioning An Nuan to come closer.

As soon as An Nuan reached her side, Liu Qing pulled her friend into an embrace.

The girls hugged each other tightly when they saw each other.

“Liu Qing, you’ve gotten prettier.” An Nuan said as she gave her friend a look over.

The girls laughed happily.

“This time, are you staying in Y City for good?” An Nuan asked once they both took a step back.

“Mmm… My father insisted that I return home and learn some business management from him,” Liu Qing said. “You have also returned to Y City after staying abroad for years. How can I not return as well?”

An Nuan had a faint smile on her face.

The reason she returned to Y City previously was to marry Pei Zhi Yi. If it were not for him, An Nuan would stay abroad and learn from her teacher.

“That’s right. Nuan Nuan, I was not able to come to your wedding previously,” Liu Qing said. She leaned closer and whispered, “I heard something happened and the groom was changed to someone else. What is this about?”

Liu Qing noticed that there were a few girls around and realized that it was not suitable for them to talk about An Nuan’s private matters.

“Then, who did you end up marrying?”

An Nuan smiled as she imagined Liu Qing’s reaction. “It’s Lin Xiao Feng.”
