The car continued to move forward.

An Nuan stole a few more glances at Lin Xiao Feng, wondering what was going on in his mind. The calm look on his face made it hard for her to guess his mood.

But sitting in the passenger’s seat made An Nuan feel uncomfortable.

Lin Xiao Feng saw her with Pei Zhi Yi but did not ask anything about it.

An Nuan wondered if Lin Xiao Feng would think that she went out to meet with her scumbag ex.

His silence was making her feel bad.

An Nuan sat in her seat while thinking of how she should explain her meeting with Pei Zhi Yi earlier.

Without realizing it, they both had reached their destination.

An Nuan looked out the window and saw that they had reached their residential area.

Lin Xiao Feng drove straight to the An family’s courtyard and parked the car at the usual spot.

“Lin Xiao Feng,” An Nuan called when she saw that Lin Xiao Feng was about to alight from the car. Her voice stopped Lin Xiao Feng, making the man turn around to look at her.

An Nuan hesitated briefly as their gazes met. “Are you not going to ask me what happened?” Her hand clenched into a fist. “Lin Xiao Feng, I didn’t come out to meet Pei Zhi Yi. Liu Qing returned to Y City a few days ago and we were having lunch with a few other girls. You remember our classmate, Liu Qing, right?”

“Hmm…” Lin Xiao Feng remembered Liu Qing, the girl who used to be An Nuan’s deskmate in high school. If he was not mistaken, the two girls were quite close.

“I didn’t expect that I would run into Pei Zhi Yi when I was leaving the restaurant,” An Nuan continued. “I didn’t want to have any interaction with him but he was pestering me.”

“I know.”

An Nuan stared at Lin Xiao Feng with her mouth parted. She wanted to say a lot of things to explain why she was with Pei Zhi Yi earlier. However, the words she wanted to say were stuck in her throat with Lin Xiao Feng’s brief answer.

“An Nuan, you don’t have to explain. I trust you.”

Her heart skipped a beat.

“I just wanted to know if he had hurt you.” Lin Xiao Feng frowned as he recalled watching Pei Zhi Yi grabbing An Nuan’s arm earlier.

Lin Xiao Feng was not too happy when he saw his wife with her ex earlier. However, he still believed that An Nuan would not do anything that would betray him.

He believed that An Nuan was not the type of person who would do things behind him. He knew her character well.

If An Nuan changed her mind and wanted to get back with her ex, she would tell him first.

“He didn’t hurt me.” An Nuan followed Lin Xiao Feng’s line of gaze and saw that he was looking at her arm.

“I heard that your ex and his family often came to our residential area to pester your family,” Lin Xiao Feng said.

“My mother told you that?” An Nuan looked embarrassed.

“Even if your mother did not say anything, I would still find out about it.”

An Nuan recalled that her mother had complained that Mrs. Pei had come to pester her while she was hanging out with Lin Xiao Feng’s mother.

“They did come.” An Nuan tried to smile. “But don’t worry. The security around the area is quite good. They would stop anyone from the Pei family from entering this residential area.”

“They cannot pester you and your family forever.”

Lin Xiao Feng planned to meet with his friend, Wei Jun Hao, the lawyer, and ask if there was something they could do to stop the Pei family from pestering An Nuan’s family.

“Let’s not talk about this now,” Lin Xiao Feng said. “If we continued to stay in the car for a long time, your family members would be worried. Look.” Lin Xiao Feng motioned to the entrance.

An Nuan glanced at the entrance and saw that her mother was standing at the door.

“Let’s go in first,” An Nuan unfastened her seatbelt and stepped out of the car. She adjusted her mood and put a smile on her face before walking to the door. “Mom, why are you standing here? Were you waiting for me?”

Shi Xi heaved a helpless sigh when she saw her daughter acting coquettishly with her. “You’re back. Nuan Nuan, have you had your lunch?”

“Hmm…” An Nuan nodded. “I had lunch with Liu Qing and the others.”

Shi Xi shifted her gaze to Lin Xiao Feng who was behind her daughter. “Xiao Feng, come in quickly. I left some dishes for you in the kitchen. You should eat before leaving.”

“Mom, you only left some dishes for Lin Xiao Feng?” An Nuan asked. There was a hint of playfulness in her tone. “Then, what about me?”

“This girl… Didn’t you say that you had your lunch with your friends?” Shi Xi tapped her daughter on the nose. “Earlier, Xiao Feng was discussing a few work matters with your father. I was finally able to call your father to eat when you called Uncle Hu to pick you up. Hearing that you were out, Xiao Feng decided to pick you up before eating.”

An Nuan turned to Lin Xiao Feng again.

She could not hide her surprise upon hearing that Lin Xiao Feng went to pick her up before having a meal with her parents.

He could let Uncle Hu come for her. Why did he come to pick her up?

Shi Xi turned around and walked to the kitchen to tell the helper to prepare the food for Lin Xiao Feng.

“Let’s go in first.”

Lin Xiao Feng’s words snapped An Nuan out of her thoughts.

Knowing that her mother was waiting for them, An Nuan left Lin Xiao Feng to the kitchen first.
