“An Nuan.” Lin Xiao Feng’s father, Lin Xu was surprised when he saw his daughter-in-law walking into the house.

The housekeeper who opened the door nodded at Lin Xu before walking away.

An Nuan watched the housekeeper walk away before turning to Lin Xu again. “Dad.” The smile on her face turned awkward. An Nuan still found it awkward to address Lin Xu as ‘Dad’ when she had called him ‘Uncle’ for years.

“Hmm…” Lin Xu nodded. His expression turned gentler when he heard An Nuan’s call. “Are you looking for Xiao Feng? He should be upstairs.”

“Ah no.” An Nuan cleared her throat. “I’ll look for him later.” She raised the food container in her hand. “My mom made some cakes. I’m going to find Mom first.”

“Your mom should be in the garden,” Lin Xu said. “Just head into the kitchen. You’ll see her in the backyard.”

“Then, I’ll get going first.” An Nuan turned to the kitchen to find her mother-in-law. After visiting the place quite a few times, she began getting used to the layout.

As soon as she walked into the kitchen, An Nuan spotted her mother-in-law in the backyard through the window. She stood near the window and watched as her mother-in-law gathered a few vegetables from the garden.

After a while, Song Luan finally entered the house carrying a basket of vegetables in her hand. Song Luan was about to say something to the helper when she noticed An Nuan standing in the kitchen.

“Nuan Nuan.” Song Luan smiled. “When did you come? Why didn’t you say anything?”

“I didn’t want to disturb your time in the garden,” An Nuan said. She glanced at the basket in Song Luan’s hand and saw a few leafy vegetables. “Mom, the vegetables you planted this time look good.”

Song Luan laughed. “It’s not bad. I’m going to cook them for lunch later. Nuan Nuan, why don’t you have lunch with us today?”

An Nuan shot an apologetic smile. “I’m afraid that I can’t accompany you for lunch. Xiao Feng and I are going out after this.”

Song Luan did not look disappointed. Instead, the smile on her face widened.

Hearing that An Nuan would be going out with her son naturally made her happy.

Now that the two of them were married, Song Luan hoped that the couple would stay together for a long time. She hoped that they would develop some feelings after spending some time together.

“It’s alright. But Nuan Nuan, you have to stay around and have breakfast with us,” Song Luan said.

“Sure.” An Nuan nodded. She raised the food container in her hand and said, “My mom made some cakes and wanted to share them with you.”

Song Luan took the food container and peeked into it. “Your mother is always good at making cakes. I should share my vegetables with her later.” She passed the container to her helper and instructed her to serve the cakes for breakfast. Then, Song Luan turned to An Nuan again. “Nuan Nuan, just wait for a bit. Breakfast will be ready soon.”

“Mhm… Mom, is there anything I can help you with?”

Song Luan’s gaze fell on the dishes at the side. She was about to ask An Nuan to help her with the dishes when she remembered her son. The light in her eyes lit up. “Nuan Nuan, if you don’t mind, why don’t you go and call Xiao Feng? Tell him it’s time for breakfast.”

“Ah?” An Nuan was not expecting that her mother-in-law would assign her to call Lin Xiao Feng.

“Nuan Nuan, you know where his room is, right?” Song Luan asked. “You have been to his room before. It’s the second room upstairs. Just knock on his door.”

Taking a deep breath, An Nuan walked up the stairs.
