“An Nuan?”

Lin Xiao Feng’s voice snapped An Nuan out of her trance. She quickly turned around, realizing that she was staring at the man’s body for a long time. Her face grew hotter and her heart was beating faster.

“I’m sorry,” An Nuan blurted out quickly.

Lin Xiao Feng took the towel that he used to dry his hair and draped it on his shoulder.

“Your mother asked me to call you over for breakfast. That’s all,” An Nuan said. “I-I better get going now.”

An Nuan wanted to run off now that she had said what she come to say.

However, after a few steps, Lin Xiao Feng grabbed her hand, stopping her from leaving.

An Nuan inhaled a sharp breath, wondering what Lin Xiao Feng planned to do.

“Don’t run. Walk slowly,” Lin Xiao Feng reminded her. “Otherwise, you might fall.”

“Oh.” Her back was facing Lin Xiao Feng. However, An Nuan still had her head lowered as she was afraid of seeing things that she should not see.

“You can tell my mother that I will come downstairs soon.”

“Oh.” At this time, An Nuan could not think of anything to say. Finally, An Nuan let out a breath of relief when Lin Xiao Feng finally released her hand.

With that, An Nuan walked away. This time, she walked steadily and tried not to run off as if she were being chased by a ghost. Before long, An Nuan could hear the sound of Lin Xiao Feng’s door closing behind her.

An Nuan stopped on her track. She tightened her hands to fists as she tried to calm down.

Her heart was still beating fast and she could feel her face burning.

She did not have to look into the mirror to know that her face was red.

An Nuan decided to stay still to compose her thoughts.

It would be troublesome if her mother-in-law saw her in this condition.

She closed her eyes, wanting to forget the scene she had seen a few minutes ago. But the image kept replaying in her head.

An Nuan knew that Lin Xiao Feng was an active person. After all, she had watched him playing basketball with his friends. She had always thought that he was thin and tall with slight muscle on his arms.

An Nuan did not stay on the second floor for too long. Once she was able to calm down, she quickly went to the dining room to find her mother-in-law.

“Nuan Nuan?” Song Luan smiled when she realized that her daughter-in-law had returned. “Where’s Xiao Feng?'”

“He’s getting ready. He will come over soon.” An Nuan looked at the dishes on the table to avoid her mother-in-law’s eyes.

“Then sit down.”” Song Luan motioned towards the chair. “We’ll have breakfast in a while.” Song Luan was about to reach for the mug of coffee on the table when she noticed that there was something different about her daughter-in-law. “Nuan Nuan, why is your face red?” She walked closer and placed a palm on An Nuan’s forehead. “Did you catch a fever?”

“No. Mom, I’m fine.” An Nuan flashed a stiff smile. “I was running down the stairs earlier.”

Song Luan had a helpless look on her face. “Don’t run. You should be careful.”

Soon, Lin Xu walked into the dining room and took his seat.

The three of them chatted briefly before Lin Xiao Feng finally showed up.

An Nuan’s heart skipped a beat the moment she met Lin Xiao Feng’s eyes. She quickly looked away before things got awkward between them.

“Xiao Feng, you are here,” Song Luan said when she saw her son. “Come over and sit down. Nuan Nuan has been waiting for you to have breakfast together.”

“Hmm…” Lin Xiao Feng pulled the chair next to An Nuan and sat. He glanced at his wife who seemed afraid to meet his eyes. Then, he raised his head again to look at his mother. “Mom, what about Grandpa?”

“Your Grandpa went out earlier,” Song Luan said. “He said he had a breakfast appointment with his friends.”

The meal began once everyone was seated.

An Nuan kept her head lowered as she ate her breakfast while listening to the Lin family chatting about this and that. Mostly, it was Father Lin who asked Lin Xiao Feng about his work in Capital City.

As time passed by, An Nuan began to relax.

“Both of you have to stop talking about work all the time,” Song Luan interjected after listening to her husband and son discussing some political issues. “Look. You’re going to bore Nuan Nuan to death.”

An Nuan raised her head and looked at her mother-in-law with a confused look on her face. She was staring into space and did not expect that her mother-in-law would suddenly call her name. She then realized that everyone was looking at her.

“Sorry. Nuan Nuan, did we bore you with our talk?” Lin Xu asked.

“No.” An Nuan shook her head. “It’s fine. I don’t mind listening to Xiao Feng’s work. I am also curious to know what he was doing.”

There was a hint of surprise in Lin Xiao Feng’s eyes. He did not expect that An Nuan would be curious about his work.

“I heard from Xiao Feng that you are thinking of selling your work on an online platform?” Lin Xu said.
