There was a brief silence between them.

An Nuan stared at Lin Xiao Feng and watched him as he began to calm down.

“Lin Xiao Feng, you don’t want me to move to Capital City?” An Nuan asked cautiously.

She felt that Lin Xiao Feng would welcome her once she mentioned the idea of moving to Capital City with him. This man had prepared a room for her. He consulted her mother before he bought her toiletries and clothes.

Was she mistaken?

Lin Xiao Feng almost choked on his breath upon hearing An Nuan’s question.

He would love it if An Nuan moved to Capital City and accompanied him. Then, why did the words that came out of his mouth sound different than what he meant?

Lin Xiao Feng was aware that there was something wrong with himself.

“I don’t mean it like that.”

Lin Xiao Feng inhaled a deep breath as he reminded himself to stay calm. But then again, he was easily agitated when it came to An Nuan.

“I would like it if you want to stay in Capital City,” Lin Xiao Feng said. “But An Nuan, I don’t want you to make a decision to move to Capital City because you feel the need to repay me for my help. Even if we are not husband and wife, I will still help you.”

“I understand.” An Nuan lowered her gaze. “But I still want to do something for you. Lin Xiao Feng, in any kind of relationship, I should not be the only one who receives. Even as your friend or your neighbor, I still want to do something for you.”

Lin Xiao Feng grew speechless upon hearing An Nuan’s words.

He found that he could not argue with An Nuan.

An Nuan stared into Lin Xiao Feng’s eyes. Seeing him unable to speak made her smile.

“I promised your grandfather that I would help you and I intended to keep my promise,” An Nuan said. “Lin Xiao Feng, during my brief visit to Capital City, we ran into the mayor. I realized that you are going to need me by your side. There would be a lot of events and functions you have to attend. When the time comes, shouldn’t you be taking your wife with you?”

Lin Xiao Feng pursed his lips as he thought over An Nuan’s arguments.

“Otherwise, are you planning to take someone else?”

His brow furrowed deeper at An Nuan’s question. “No.”

Whenever he attended any events or social gathering, Lin Xiao Feng would feel more at ease going alone than having someone as his plus one.

Why would he think of inviting anyone?

“I think, the people in Capital City knew that you are a married man,” An Nuan continued. “It is inappropriate if you were to bring anyone else other than your wife.” She leaned closer to the table. “Lin Xiao Feng, you need me.”

Lin Xiao Feng’s heartbeat was pounding fast.

He needed An Nuan in his life.

However, his reason was not the same as what An Nuan had in mind.

He loved her and wanted to spend the rest of his life with her.

“You told me that you don’t need anything from me other than me being your wife,” An Nuan said. “This is what I should do.”

Lin Xiao Feng heaved a heavy breath. He found that it would be difficult to tell An Nuan that he did not need her to help him that way.

“The second reason,” An Nuan continued. “Lin Xiao Feng, you should have heard that my ex-fiance’s family has been harassing me and my family. My ex’s family believed that I still have feelings for that person and wanted us to get back.”

The light in Lin Xiao Feng’s eyes dimmed.

Lin Xiao Feng quickly looked away before An Nuan could notice the dangerous glint in his eyes.

Just the thought of An Nuan getting together with Pei Zhi Yi was enough to make his blood boil.

“I don’t plan to get back with him,” An Nuan said. “The moment I decided to find a substitute on my wedding day, I already decided to break all sorts of relationships with him.”

“I want them to stop harassing us,” An Nuan said. “At this time, my parents and elder brother were doing their best to stop them from seeing me. My family would feel more at ease as well.”

“I have thought about it. You don’t have to worry about my business. As a designer, I can work just anywhere. My brother will help me with the production and I don’t need to stay in Y City if I am planning to sell the jewelry online.” An Nuan paused to inhale a deep breath. “Most importantly, I have discussed this matter with my parents and they agreed with my decision.”
