Chapter 123: Tell Our Parents

In the evening, An Nuan and her parents showed up at Lin’s residence.

Lin Xiao Feng halted when he saw An Nuan chatting happily with his mother. He stood at the entrance for a long time to watch them.

As if noticing that someone was watching her, An Nuan raised her head and met Lin Xiao Feng’s gaze.

He wanted to stay with An Nuan but Lin Xiao Feng thought that it would be awkward to stay with the woman. He would not be able to join in their conversation.

“That’s good,” Shi Xi said. “Xiao Feng, you should go and call them. Dinner should be ready in a while.”

“Mhm. I know.” Lin Xiao Feng glanced at An Nuan for one more time before he turned around and left. He was about to head upstairs again when he heard the sound of footsteps behind him.

He stopped on his track and turned around only to find An Nuan walking over.

“What’s wrong?” Lin Xiao Feng frowned, thinking that An Nuan had come to relay a word from his mother.

“Lin Xiao Feng, I was thinking if we should tell our parents about my decision to move to Capital City,” An Nuan said.

Lin Xiao Feng stared into An Nuan’s eyes for a brief few seconds. “Have you really decided?”

The look on An Nuan’s face changed. “We talked about it yesterday. You agreed to it. Are you going to tell me that you have changed your mind?”

“I haven’t” Lin Xiao Feng heaved a helpless sigh. “An Nuan, I was afraid that you were going to change your mind. After all, moving to Capital City is a big move. You have returned to Y City after a few months and are going to move again.”

“I haven’t changed my mind.” An Nuan looked at Lin Xiao Feng with a resolute look in her eyes.

Lin Xiao Feng let out a chuckle when he saw the look on An Nuan’s face. “Alright. We can tell them later. Since you have decided, I will listen to you.”

An Nuan looked surprised. She thought that Lin Xiao Feng was going to argue more with her. But what she had expected did not happen.

“What’s wrong?” Lin Xiao Feng asked, noticing An Nuan’s strange gaze.

“You agreed just like that?” An Nuan asked. “I thought that you would argue with me first.”

“You’re overthinking. An Nuan, I won’t argue with you without a reason.”

An Nuan raised a brow. She remembered how Lin Xiao Feng had argued with her at the restaurant yesterday. An Nuan felt that Lin Xiao Feng was being unreasonable when he told her that he did not like her doing things to repay his kindness.

“If you think it’s suitable to tell them, then I will follow your decision.”

She observed Lin Xiao Feng’s expression for a while and finally lowered her guard when he did not say anything.

“I will tell them after dinner,,” An Nuan said. “Lin Xiao Feng, let me do the talking.”

“Alright.” Lin Xiao Feng agreed.

“But let’s not tell my family the reason I decided to move,” An Nuan said. “I don’t want to let my parents worry.”

Lin Xiao Feng nodded again. “I understand.”

The atmosphere was especially lively as the elders had a lot to talk about.

Lin Xiao Feng and An Nuan sat quietly while listening to their conversation. Lin Xiao Feng would join their conversation once when needed. Meanwhile, An Nuan was still trying to find the chance to talk to the elders about her decision.

“Everyone, I have something to announce,” An Nuan said as the meal was nearing the end.

The elders stopped their conversation and turned to An Nuan.

“Nuan Nuan, what do you want to tell us?” Song Lian asked.

An Nuan glanced at Lin Xiao Feng and saw him flashing an encouraging smile at her.

“Mom, Dad, I decided to follow Xiao Feng and move to Capital City.”

There was a brief silence. The elders exchanged their glances before turning to An Nuan again.

“This is good news,” An Qi said. “You are both married. It’s natural for you to follow Xiao Feng and move to Capital City.”

Lin Xu nodded. “Mmm… I agree with you.”

“I was going to ask you if you have plans to follow Xiao Feng later,” An Qi said. “I’m glad that you already made this decision. Your decision to marry was a bit sudden and your marriage was not because of love.” He met Lin Xiao Feng’s gaze and sighed. “But in the end, you are both husband and wife. No matter how your marriage is going to be in the future, I do hope that both of you can make your marriage work.”

An Nuan was surprised. Her father had not said many words about her marriage after the wedding. She did not expect that he had such an opinion.
