Chapter 129: Check On An Nuan

The ringtones continued.

An Nuan stared at the phone for a long time and hesitated.

She was not in the mood to talk to Lin Xiao Feng right now.

All she wanted to do was to be alone for a while. Moreover, An Nuan was very sure that her eyes were still swollen. It was not appropriate for her to see anyone.

But then, An Nuan remembered that she had not talked to Lin Xiao Feng for the last two days.

Lin Xiao Feng had to attend some important event in the evening and that event usually lasted until it was late. He told her that he was not going to call as he did not want to disturb her when it was too late.

What if he had something important to say?

The tones stopped, telling An Nuan that she had missed the call.

An Nuan was startled. She did not expect that she would miss the call when she decided to pick up the phone call.

She stared at the phone, wondering if she should return the call and come up with an excuse. However, before An Nuan could make that call, her phone started to ring again.

Lin Xiao Feng’s name was still on the screen.

Taking a deep breath, An Nuan picked up the phone call. Then, she placed her phone on the table and positioned it in a way such that Lin Xiao Feng would not be able to see her face.

“An Nuan?” Lin Xiao Feng’s voice was heard on the other side.

“Sorry, I was in the bathroom earlier,” An Nuan lied.

“It’s alright.”

On the phone screen was an image of Lin Xiao Feng.

His face looked tired. An Nuan could see that Lin Xiao Feng was still in his work shirt. His two top buttons were unbuttoned, showing her a bit of his skin.

An Nuan knew that it was inappropriate. However, she could not help recalling the scene of Lin Xiao Feng standing at his door with his bare chest. The water slid down his sculpted abs.

She quickly shook off those thoughts from her mind.

“I’m wearing a mask,” An Nuan said. “Is it okay if I did not show you my face? I don’t want to scare you.”

Lin Xiao Feng chuckled. “It’s alright.”

“You just got off from work?” An Nuan asked.

“Hmm…” Lin Xiao Feng ran his hands into his hair before he leaned on the sofa behind him. “There was some issue at the site today. I have to go and take a look.”

“You don’t have to make this call if you are busy, you know. You should rest when you have the chance.”

Lin Xiao Feng chuckled. “Well, it has been a few days since I last spoke to you.”

He wanted to tell An Nuan that he missed her. But then, he knew that his confession would scare her. Lin Xiao Feng had no choice but to hold back.

“Moreover, I still have some matters to discuss with you.” Lin Xiao Feng said.

“What is it?”

An Nuan was relieved that she did not ignore Lin Xiao Feng’s phone call earlier.

Her guess was right. Lin Xiao Feng does have some important matters to discuss with her.

“Well…” Lin Xiao Feng paused. “An Nuan, are you alright? Your voice sounded a little numb.”

An Nuan started to panic. “Really?”

“Did you have a fever?”

An Nuan inhaled a deep breath to calm down. She thought that she could use this excuse to explain her voice. “Maybe. I went out with Ren Di earlier this morning and had some ice cream. Maybe I ate too much.”

Lin Xiao Feng frowned. “Eat less. You should drink more warm water.”

“Mhm…” An Nuan heaved in relief when Lin Xiao Feng did not ask for more.

Lin Xiao Feng lowered his gaze.

He knew well that An Nuan was lying.

Lin Xiao Feng was still accompanying the Mayor to meet a few officials when he received a text from An Jian.

His brother-in-law told him that An Nuan was in a bad mood after running into Pei Zhi Yi.

Initially, An Jian was against him marrying An Nuan but, An Jian began to accept him once he told An Jian his reason.

Lin Xiao Feng knew that An Jian wanted to help get close to An Nuan. Of course, Lin Xiao Feng was not going to let this chance pass by.

No matter how busy he was, he should call An Nuan and check on her.

Lin Xiao Feng was relieved that An Nuan was willing to pick up his phone call. At least, he can be assured that An Nuan was now in a better mood.

But the thought that An Nuan had cried because of that scumbag pissed him off.

That man did not cherish An Nuan when he had her heart. And now, he is continuously hurting her.

Lin Xiao Feng was annoyed that Pei Zhi Yi had once again disturbed his wife.

But then, An Jian mentioned that Pei Zhi Yi was looking for him after the company under Pei’s family had suffered a little bit. Lin Xiao Feng had asked someone to come to their company for an inspection. Later, they found a few problems and now, their factory had to be closed for a few weeks.

Lin Xiao Feng was thinking that he should no longer give Pei Zhi Yi and his family a chance to find An Nuan and her family.

“What did you want to say to me?” An Nuan asked.

“I was speaking with the mayor earlier. When his wife found out that you were coming to Capital City soon, she wanted to invite us to their place,” Lin Xiao Feng said. “I told them that we will come to visit them a week after you come over. You should rest and get used to living in Capital City before you meet anyone. Will that be alright?”

An Nuan chuckled. Her gaze turned gentler at Lin Xiao Feng’s consideration. “Mmm… It’s up to you. I will let you decide.”
