Chapter 143: Caramel-Flavored Candy

As it was still early to go home, An Nuan decided to look around the supermarket.

An Nuan’s first impression of the supermarket was quite good.

The place was neat and organized. Their vegetables and fruits looked fresh.

An Nuan picked up a few boxes of fruits, deciding to snack on them later while working on her sketches. When she turned around, An Nuan found that Lin Xiao Feng was holding a basket in his hand.

“Just put them in here,” Lin Xiao Feng said. “It will be too heavy to carry everything in your hand.”

An Nuan smiled.

Since Lin Xiao Feng had offered, she would not hesitate to put the fruits she chose into the basket and let Lin Xiao Feng carry everything for her.

Her eyes fell on the box of cherries on the shelf.

It was said that the cherries from D Town were sweet and juicy.

Initially, An Nuan did not plan to buy a lot of fruits. But now that Lin Xiao Feng was carrying a basket, An Nuan thought it wouldn’t hurt to buy a few more.

“Will these be enough?” Lin Xiao Feng asked when he noticed that An Nuan was about to move to another aisle.

“Hmm…” An Nuan nodded. “I still want to look at the snacks aisle.”

Lin Xiao Feng chuckled.

“I just thought that I could eat something when I’m hungry later,” An Nuan explained. The way Lin Xiao Feng looked at her made her feel like she was greedy for food. “Anyway, I work well while snacking on some food.”

“You could always ask Auntie Yu to prepare the food for you later,” Lin Xiao Feng pointed out. “You have tasted her cooking before. She is quite good.”

“But it will be convenient for me to have something else.”

“Alright. Up to you. I will listen to you.”

Lin Xiao Feng’s words made An Nuan pause.

She thought that Lin Xiao Feng would say more to persuade her to buy less.

A strange feeling crept into her chest.

An Nuan looked away, hoping that the feeling would quickly disappear.

After walking around for a while, they finally reached the snacks aisle.

The light in An Nuan’s eyes lit up when she saw the rack filled with various snacks. She did not expect that this supermarket would have quite a few choices of imported chocolate and chips.

An Nuan picked up a bag of chips and waved it to Lin Xiao Feng. “I can’t believe they would have these chips here.” She stared at the bag with a smile. “I usually ate this brand while I was studying in F Country.”

She looked at the shelf again and sighed.

The supermarket around the elite’s neighborhood was indeed different. There were varieties of snacks and many imported ones.

“You like this?” Lin Xiao Feng took the bag on the shelf to examine the snacks his wife liked. He had seen a few of his friends eating the same brand of chips. However, Lin Xiao Feng had never tried them.

“Hmm… they’re quite delicious.” An Nuan hesitated as she tried to decide which flavor she should buy.

“Just take a couple of them,” Lin Xiao Feng said as if he could understand what was going through An Nuan’s mind. “We can always come over again the next time.”

An Nuan thought that Lin Xiao Feng’s words made sense.

She looked at the shelf again and picked up two of her favorite flavors. Then, An Nuan continued to look around.

“An Nuan.”

Lin Xiao Feng’s voice made An Nuan turn around.

The corner of her lips tilted up when she saw the packet in Lin Xiao Feng’s hand.

“I remember you liked eating this caramel-flavored candy in high school,” Lin Xiao Feng said.

“Hey, this candy brings back memories.” She looked at the shelf and saw that there were a few candies she liked. “I haven’t eaten these candies for a long time,” An Nuan commented. She paused briefly when she recalled the words Lin Xiao Feng said earlier. “How do you know that I liked to eat the caramel-flavored candies?”

Lin Xiao Feng looked into An Nuan’s round eyes and thought that the surprised look on her face looked quite adorable. “An Nuan, have you forgotten that we grew up together? How can I not know that you liked to eat this candy during high school?”

An Nuan thought that there was something wrong with Lin Xiao Feng’s statement.

The two of them might grow up together but they were not that close when they both were in high school.

How would Lin Xiao Feng know her preferences?

She did not know what Lin Xiao Feng liked.

“Besides…” Lin Xiao Feng chuckled. “An Nuan, you told me yourself that you liked these candies.”

An Nuan did not have any memories of herself discussing her favorite candy with Lin Xiao Feng.

“I used to play a lot of basketball with Yu Han and the boys,” Lin Xiao Feng continued. “There was one time that I was too tired after a game. Our opponent was the top three teams in our division. Playing against them was too tiring. At the end of the game, I sat on the bench alone, trying to catch my breath. You came over and asked if I was alright. Then, you gave me a piece of candy and told me that they were your favorite.”

An Nuan blinked. She tried to remember such occasions but nothing came to her mind.

“Such a thing happen?”

“Why would I lie to you?” Lin Xiao Feng chuckled. His expression showed that he was not happy that An Nuan did not remember that incident. “An Nuan, your memories aren’t that good.” Lin Xiao Feng raised his hand and tapped An Nuan’s forehead softly. Then, he turned around taking the basket of snacks with him.

The scene where An Nuan had passed him some candies was only a fragment from his memory.

What he did not tell An Nuan was that he often saw An Nuan eating that candy while she was reading her books in the library.

Back then, An Nuan was too focused on her books that she did not see him standing behind the bookshelf, stealing a few glances at her.
