Chapter 144: New Environment

An Nuan woke up quite late the next morning.

Sleeping in a different room in new environment was not easy. Last night, An Nuan tossed and turned for a long time before she was finally able to sleep.

When she came downstairs, An Nuan found Auntie Yu in the kitchen preparing something at the kitchen counter.

Auntie Yu turned around and their gazes met.

The corner of her lips turned into an awkward smile. An Nuan was still not used to living in the new house and had almost forgotten that Auntie Yu would be coming every morning to cook and tidy the house.

“Mrs. Lin.” Auntie Yu greeted with a smile.

An Nuan nodded and cleared her throat. She swept her gaze around the place before turning to Auntie Yu again. “Where’s Lin Xiao Feng?”

The smile on Auntie Yu’s lips remained intact. “Mr. Lin headed out an hour ago. His assistant came over to pick him up.”

An Nuan nodded again.

She recalled that Lin Xiao Feng had been running around for the past few days with his grandfather. He returned to Capital City with her yesterday and now, he has to return to work.

His schedule was packed. Just the thought of Lin Xiao Feng running around here and there made An Nuan tired.

“Mrs. Lin, would you like some breakfast?” Auntie Yu asked. “Young Master Lin asked me to prepare some porridge for you.”

An Nuan was indeed hungry. Thinking about a bowl of hot porridge made her stomach growl lightly. “Alright.” An Nuan nodded.

“I’ll go and prepare first,” Auntie Yu said. “Mrs. Lin, please have a seat first.”

Seeing Auntie Yu turned around to the kitchen, An Nuan then headed to the dining area. Instead of taking a seat, An Nuan walked to the window to look at the scenery outside the house.

She realized that there was a small garden with flowers outside. The flowers looked pretty and the scenery made her feel calmer. An Nuan would not mind staring at the flowers forever.

“Mrs. Lin.”

Auntie Lin’s voice snapped An Nuan out of her trance. She turned around and saw that Auntie Yu had placed a few dishes on the table. Her nose picked up the scent of coffee.

An Nuan peeked at the table and saw a bowl of porridge as well as a few dishes. They were the kind of food that she liked.

Perhaps, Lin Xiao Feng had told Auntie Yu her preferences.

This time, An Nuan did not find it strange that Lin Xiao Feng would know what she liked for breakfast.

After all, Lin Xiao Feng often visited her parents’ house to have breakfast with them.

She wondered if Lin Xiao Feng was an observant person.

An Nuan took a sip from the hot coffee and heaved a happy sigh.

She ate her breakfast slowly and planned to go out and explore the neighborhood later.

The food that Auntie Yu made was delicious. Lin Xiao Feng did not lie when he told her that Auntie Yu was a good cook.

As she finished her bowl of porridge, An Nuan raised her head and saw that Auntie Yu was looking at her.

“Mrs. Lin,” Auntie Yu looked anxious. She was used to serving Lin Xiao Feng and was worried whether An Nuan would like her cooking. “How was the breakfast?”

“It’s good.” An Nuan smiled. “Auntie Yu, the dishes you made tasted delicious. It’s just perfect.”

Auntie Yu heaved in relief. “That’s good to hear. Mrs. Lin, if there is anything you want to eat, you can just tell me. I know how to cook a variety of dishes.”

“Alright.” An Nuan nodded.

“What would you like to have for lunch?”

An Nuan paused. Her stomach was still full from eating late breakfast. An Nuan did not think that she could think of eating anything else at this time.

“Auntie Yu, I don’t think that I’m going to eat lunch today. Maybe I will eat an early dinner today.”

“Will that be alright?” Auntie Yu looked worried.

“I can snack on some fruits if I’m hungry.”

Auntie Yu considered An Nuan’s words. “Alright. But, Mrs. Lin, you can just tell me if you are hungry. I can whip something simple really quickly.”

Before Lin Xiao Feng left, he already reminded Auntie Yu to follow whatever An Nuan said. Auntie Yu had a feeling that as long as she made An Nuan happy, she would be able to stay with her job for a long time.

An Nuan sat in the dining room and chatted briefly with Auntie Yu. Worried that she would be disturbing the elder woman’s work, An Nuan then excused herself and headed upstairs.

She sat behind her desk, wanting to sort out a few of the documents she brought with her.

The ringing from her phone made her look up. An Nuan reached for her phone and saw Lin Xiao Feng’s name on the screen.

Her brow rose, wondering why Lin Xiao Feng was looking for her at this time.

“An Nuan.”

Lin Xiao Feng’s voice was heard as soon as the phone call was connected.

“Have you had your meal?” Lin Xiao Feng asked.

“Mhm… Just now.”

“That’s good.” Lin Xiao Feng smiled. “Right. I remember you told me you are going to explore the neighborhood when you have time. I left the car keys at the entrance. An Nuan, if you need to go anywhere, you can drive my car.”

An Nuan was surprised that Lin Xiao Feng had left his keys. “Then, what about you?”

“My assistant will drive me around,” Lin Xiao Feng said. “You don’t have to worry about me.”

A helpless smile curled on her lips. “Thank you.”

“I’ll return home this evening around five,” Lin Xiao Feng said. “An Nuan, let’s have dinner together.”

“You don’t need to attend any social event?” An Nuan remembered that Lin Xiao Feng mentioned that he often had to attend such events to get along with some people.

“Well, not today.” Lin Xiao Feng thought that he should accompany An Nuan a little more as she had just moved to Capital City.
