Chapter 145: Is He Good to You?

After spending most of her time in her room, An Nuan finally left the house to explore the neighborhood in the evening.

Following her memory from last night, An Nuan finally reached the community park.

When she arrived, there were already quite a few people around.

She could see a few people jogging around the tracks. The elders were using the gym equipment while the children were playing around the playground.

The park was not big but enough for everyone to do their activities.

An Nuan could sense the residence’s curious gaze the moment she arrived.

It was the first time she had appeared around the community park and everyone was curious to know who she was. The area where Lin Xiao Feng lived was a gated community. Unless she was a resident, she would not be able to walk around the park. But none heard the news about a new neighbor moving into the residential area.

An Nuan continued to walk around the park under the neighbor’s curious gaze.

However, none of them stepped forward to ask her who she was.

After walking around for a bit, An Nuan heard the sound of a ball thumping on the ground. She followed the sound and finally reached a small basketball court in the area.

An Nuan watched a few teenage boys playing basketball and immediately thought of Lin Xiao Feng.

She found a bench nearby and decided to sit down and watch their practice until the ringing of her phone broke her attention.

An Nuan looked at the caller ID and smiled when she saw her mother’s name.

“Mom,” An Nuan said as the call was connected.

“Nuan Nuan, how are you?” Shi Xi asked. “Is everything alright?”

An Nuan chuckled. She remembered her mother asking similar questions when she moved to another country to pursue her studies.

Back then, her mother would call every day to check on her.

“Mom, I miss you too.”

Shi Xi laughed when she heard her daughter’s words.

“I’m doing fine,” An Nuan continued. “Mom, you don’t have to worry about me.”

Shi Xi let out a faint sigh. “How can I not worry about you? Nuan Nuan, as long as you are not in my sight, I will always worry. Nuan Nuan, where are you? Why is it noisy over there?”

“I was taking a walk around the community park,” An Nuan answered. “I’m going to stay here for a while. It’s better to familiarize myself with my surroundings.”

“How is the place?” Shi Xi asked. “Xiao Feng told me that the area he is staying at is safe and convenient.”

“He’s right. Mom, when you come to visit me later, I will take you around the place,” An Nuan said. “When are you thinking about visiting me?”

“You have been away for one day. It’s still too early to come and visit.”

“Hmm? Mom, didn’t you say that you missed me?”

Shi Xi had a helpless smile on her face. She could tell from her daughter’s tone of voice that her daughter was doing fine.

Earlier, Shi Xi was a bit worried about her daughter’s mood.

“How is Xiao Feng? Is he good to you?” Shi Xi asked.

An Nuan laughed. “Mom, Xiao Feng is good to me. You should know him well. Didn’t you say that he is the boy you grew up watching?”

“I know. But Nuan Nuan, it was said that you would not know someone well until you lived under the same roof with that person,” Shi Xi said. “I trust Song Luan and her family had raised Xiao Feng well. But who knows if he had any peculiar habit?”

Shi Xi had always thought that she knew Lin Xiao Feng quite well. However, Shi Xi realized that she did not know Lin Xiao Feng as well as she had thought.

She remembered how she was surprised when that young man came to her and her husband and asked them to give their blessing to marry An Nuan. Lin Xiao Feng then confessed that he had always liked An Nuan in the past.

“It’s good that Xiao Feng is treating you well,” Shi Xi continued. “But Nuan Nuan, you have to remember… if Xiao Feng bullies you one day, you can always tell me and your dad. We will help you beat him up.”

An Nuan laughed again.

She could not imagine her parents beating an adult Lin Xiao Feng.

The mother and daughter chatted for a while before they ended their phone call.

An Nuan was about to put her phone away when she noticed a few notifications on her phone.

It seemed that Lin Xiao Feng had called her once before sending her a text.

Earlier, An Nuan was busy chatting with her mother and had not noticed his phone call.

An Nuan clicked on Lin Xiao Feng’s text and saw him asking her whereabouts. She replied with her location and told him that she planned to stay for a while before heading back.

“Wait for me. I’ll come and find you.” Lin Xiao Feng’s reply came a few seconds after An Nuan had sent her text.

An Nuan stared at her phone while admiring Lin Xiao Feng’s speed to reply.

Suddenly, the image of Lin Xiao Feng staring at his phone while waiting for her reply came to her mind.

An Nuan laughed and shook her head to dismiss that image from her head.

She did not think that someone like Lin Xiao Feng could stare at his phone to wait for her reply.

It should be a coincidence.

Perhaps Lin Xiao Feng was doing something on his phone when she happened to reply to his text.

An Nuan put down her phone and continued to watch the basketball games in front of her.

The boys had been playing for a while but they did not show any sign that they were tired.

The sound of approaching footsteps made An Nuan turn around. As she raised her head, An Nuan saw Lin Xiao Feng walking over in his direction.

He was still dressed in a white shirt, black slacks, and leather shoes. Seeing the way he was catching his breath made her wonder if this man had been running to find her.
