Chapter 152: Meeting with the Mayor and His Wife

Lin Xiao Feng pulled over his vehicle in a parking spot.

He first helped An Nuan to get out of the vehicle. Then, he walked around the car and took out a few paper bags from the cargo.

“When did you prepare all these?” An Nuan peeked into one of the bags and saw that there was a bottle of good wine.

“A while ago.” Lin Xiao Feng smiled.

“Let me help you carry one of them.” An Nuan pointed at one of the bags.

Lin Xiao Feng handed An Nuan one of the bags. Now that one of his hands was free, Lin Xiao Feng reached to hold An Nuan’s hand and led her to the door.

He rang the bell and waited.

A few seconds later, the door was pulled open from the inside.

An older man with a bald head stood at the door while looking at the Lin couple politely.

“Butler Zhao, hello,” Lin Xiao Feng greeted with a smile.

“Hello. Mr. Lin, welcome.” The man called Butler Zhao stepped aside to let the couple in. “Mayor Zhao is in his study to answer a call. He will be with you shortly. Mr. Lin, Mrs. Lin, let’s head to the living area first.

Lin Xiao Feng nodded. He glanced at An Nuan before leading her to follow the butler.

When they arrived, Lin Xiao Feng handed the gifts he brought to Mayor Jiang and explained what it was to the butler.

Once the butler had left, Lin Xiao Feng sat beside An Nuan and happened to see her clasping her hands together.

“Are you nervous?” Lin Xiao Feng asked.

An Nuan chuckled. “I shouldn’t be. I used to go out with my parents to attend a few events. But I realized that this would be the first time I’m coming to an elder’s house to socialize on my own.”

Meeting someone around her age would be fine but An Nuan began to worry about meeting the elders.

Lin Xiao Feng and Mayor Jiang would definitely talk about their work.

But what should she talk about with the mayor’s wife?

An Nuan did not know if she would have a suitable topic.

“You don’t have to be nervous.” Lin Xiao Feng flashed an assuring smile. “Mayor Jiang and his wife are very good people. Well, if you’re uncomfortable, you can always tell me. I’ll figure out an excuse to leave early.”

A faint smile appeared on An Nuan’s lips.

Lin Xiao Feng’s words touched her.

However, she was not that fragile.

One of the reasons she came to Capital City this time was to help Lin Xiao Feng with his career. There was no way that she could make Lin Xiao Feng leave early just because she was uncomfortable.

Sooner or later, she will have to follow Lin Xiao Feng, joining a few gatherings and events.

The scale of those events would be bigger. She will have to socialize with a lot of people she does not know.

An Nuan thought that she could use this meeting with the mayor and his wife as practice.

Not long after, the couple heard the sound of footsteps coming their way.

Lin Xiao Feng turned to look and stood up when he saw the mayor walking over. “Mayor Jiang.” He stretched his hand for a handshake.

“Xiao Feng, you are here.” The smile on Mayor Jiang”s lips was wide. He turned to An Nuan next and nodded. “Mrs. Lin, you are finally here.”

“Mayor Jiang, Hello.” An Nuan greeted the mayor politely.

“I hope you enjoy staying in Capital City,” Mayor Jiang said.

“Hmm…” An Nuan glanced at Lin Xiao Feng and found that he was looking at her. “Not bad. The city is so big. I still haven’t had time to explore the city.”

Mayor Jiang turned to look at Lin Xiao Feng again. “I know you are busy. But Xiao Feng, you need to take your wife out and let her see around the city a little more. There are a lot of dating spots around. I can give you a suggestion later.”

Lin Xiao Feng laughed.

The three of them exchanged a few more words. Then, Mayor Jiang turned when his nose picked up the scent of something delicious coming from the kitchen.

“Alright. Let’s head over to the dining area first,” Mayor Jiang said. “My wife is busy in the kitchen. She prepared a feast for you two.”

An Nuan held Lin Xiao Feng’s arm and followed the mayor to the dining area.

When they entered, Mayor Jiang’s wife was busy instructing the helper to organize the dishes on the table.

Noticing that someone was walking in, the wife looked up and finally smiled when she saw her guests.

“Hey, you two finally made it.” The wife whispered a few words at the nearby helper before coming to her husband’s side. Her eyes were on the Lin couple in front of her. “It’s good to see you here.”

“Hello, Madam.” An Nuan exchanged a handshake with the mayor’s wife. Seeing the friendly smile on the wife’s face made her feel more at ease.

“How should I address you?”

“Madam, you can call me An Nuan.”

“Come on.” The mayor’s wife left her husband’s side and walked around the table. “Have a seat.” She glanced at Lin Xiao Feng and smiled. “Lin Xiao Feng, help your wife with her chair.”

Lin Xiao Feng chuckled. He was planning to hold the chair for An Nuan even if the mayor’s wife did not say anything. Then, he pulled the chair next to An Nuan and sat down. Lin Xiao Feng shifted his gaze to the dishes on the table.

It could be seen that the mayor’s wife had gone all out to prepare a feast.

There were too many dishes and each one of them looked good.

Lin Xiao Feng always knew that the mayor’s wife was a good cook. Otherwise, the mayor would not be complaining about how hard it was for him to lose weight each time they ate together.
