Chapter 153: Madam Jiang’s Invitation

An Nuan gradually loosened up after chatting with the Jiang couple for a while.

The Mayor and his wife were both friendly. The topic they brought up during their meal was casual. Talking with them made it feel as if she had known them for a very long time.

Once the meal ended, the Mayor invited Lin Xiao Feng to his office.

Lin Xiao Feng leaned closer to An Nuan and whispered, “I’ll be right back. Will you be alright staying here alone?”

An Nuan smiled. “I’ll be fine. Go ahead. The mayor’s wife is here to accompany me.”

Lin Xiao Feng stared at An Nuan for a brief seconds longer. “Alright. Just text me if there’s something. I’ll come and find you as soon as possible.”

After saying a few more words, Lin Xiao Feng turned to follow the mayor to his office.

An Nuan stayed in the living room, with her eyes following Lin Xiao Feng’s movement. Once she could no longer see his figure, An Nuan finally looked away.

“The two of you are really newlyweds,” Madam Jiang commented. “Look, you can’t bear to part from each other even for a brief moment.”

An Nuan wanted to tell the mayor’s wife that she had misunderstood. However, the moment she opened her mouth, An Nuan decided that it was better not to explain anything.

“Charity dinner?”

Mayor Jiang turned when he heard his wife’s voice.

The mayor turned to An Nuan and laughed. “Sorry to keep you waiting.”

Lin Xiao Feng stayed around to chat with the Jiang couple briefly. Then, he made an excuse to leave and took his wife with him.

“What did you and Madam Jiang talk about earlier?” Lin Xiao Feng asked once they were farther away from the mayor’s place.

“Mmm… Nothing much. It’s just girls’ talk. You won’t be interested to hear.” An Nuan glanced at Lin Xiao Feng and laughed when she saw him raising a brow at her. “That’s right. Madam Jiang invited me to join her for a charity dinner next week. I was thinking of going.”

Lin Xiao Feng pursed his lips. “You don’t have to go if you don’t want to.” He did not want An Nuan to do anything she did not like. Most importantly, he did not need her to do anything for his sake.

“I wanted to.” An Nuan smiled. “I just thought that I needed to make some friends in Capital City. Meeting some people might be a good thing.”
