Chapter 156: Breakfast

In the next few days, Lin Xiao Feng has been observing An Nuan whenever he is at home.

Seeing that she was not in a bad mood after learning the reason her parents had to go away made him feel more at ease.

That morning, Lin Xiao Feng woke up early for his usual morning jog around the community park.

When he returned, Lin Xiao Feng was surprised to find An Nuan in the kitchen with a glass of water in her hand.

“You’re early,” Lin Xiao Feng commented. He observed An Nuan silently, wondering why she was up early.

Usually, An Nuan would still be in her room when he left the house for work. Lin Xiao Feng assumed that An Nuan would be sleeping after going to bed late. He heard that An Nuan liked to work on her sketches at night.

“Hmm…” An Nuan put down the glass in her hand. “I came down for a drink.”

An Nuan was awakened by the sudden itch in her throat.

She coughed nonstop and drank the water on her bedside table to relieve the itch. However, after drinking the whole glass, her throat was still itching. An Nuan had no other choice but to head to the kitchen to relieve the itch in her throat. She did not expect that Lin Xiao Feng would suddenly come in.

An Nuan finished the water in her glass while giving Lin Xiao Feng a lookover.

“You went for a jog?” An Nuan asked as she walked to the sink to wash her glass. Coincidentally, her eyes fell on the clock on the wall. “It’s really early.”

Lin Xiao Feng chuckled. “It’s not bad to go out early. The temperature is colder in the morning. Plus, there are many people in the community park around this time.”

An Nuan shivered when Lin Xiao Feng mentioned the temperature. She could not imagine waking up in the morning and going for a jog when it was too cold.

Lin Xiao Feng walked to the kitchen cabinet to retrieve a glass. He poured himself a glass of water and drained its contents. When he turned around, Lin Xiao Feng found that An Nuan was watching him.

He raised a brow as he placed the glass on the counter. “What?”

An Nuan looked away.

She could not tell Lin Xiao Feng that she was watching him drinking water and fell into a trance when she saw his throat bob up and down.

An Nuan could not tell why she was watching him.

Just that, she seemed to have something to tell him earlier. But that thought disappeared when she saw him drinking water.

Right.

What was she going to tell him earlier?

An Nuan could not remember what it was.

“Should we have breakfast together?” An Nuan asked before Lin Xiao Feng could think of anything.

“It will be a while before Auntie Yu gets here,” Lin Xiao Feng said as he glanced at the clock.

“It’s alright.” An Nuan walked over to Lin Xiao Feng and pushed him towards the doorway. “Lin Xiao Feng, you should take a shower first. I’ll prepare some breakfast today.”

The light in Lin Xiao Feng’s eyes flickered. He stopped on his track and looked at An Nuan again. “Really?”

“What? Do you think I cannot cook?” An Nuan looked unhappy. “I can at least make some toast and fry some eggs.”

Lin Xiao Feng smiled. Naturally, he would be happy to eat his breakfast with his wife. Now, she was offering to cook. Even if An Nuan served him some burned toasts, he would eat them.

“Alright then.” Lin Xiao Feng obediently turned around and headed upstairs. “I will come down again in a while.” He made a mental reminder to take his time to let An Nuan prepare.

An Nuan heaved a breath of relief once she could no longer see Lin Xiao Feng’s figure in the kitchen.

She stood in the kitchen for a while and wondered why she offered to make breakfast.

But then, An Nuan quickly decided that she was still groggy from sleep and had not woken up properly when Lin Xiao Feng showed up. Other than that reason, An Nuan could not think of anything else.

An Nuan inhaled a deep breath to calm down.

Then, she turned to look at the stove, wondering what she could make for breakfast.

She had better prepare something quickly before Lin Xiao Feng showed up.

Half an hour later, Lin Xiao Feng came downstairs to check on An Nuan.

As he walked past the dining area, Lin Xiao Feng could see that An Nuan had prepared some simple breakfast for both of them. There were toasts and jams and some sunny side up on the table. His wife had also cut some fruits for them. Everything on the table seemed edible.

He stood at the kitchen entrance while watching An Nuan standing in front of the coffee machine. A while later, the scent of coffee wafted into the air.

An Nuan turned around and was startled to see Lin Xiao Feng standing behind her.

“You scared me.” An Nuan placed a hand on her chest. “Why didn’t you make a sound when you came over?”

“Sorry.” Lin Xiao Feng flashed a smile. “You were too focused on the coffee machine. Is everything going well?”

“It’s alright.” An Nuan rarely woke up this early. She needed a cup of coffee to help herself stay awake. “Breakfast is ready. I was just waiting for you.” The coffee machine behind her stopped. An Nuan turned around to pour some milk into her coffee. Then, she looked at Lin Xiao Feng again. “Would you like one as well?”

“Okay.” Lin Xiao Feng nodded. Then, he watched as An Nuan prepared him a cup of coffee.

“Don’t just stand there,” An Nuan said as she turned around. “Sit down. I’ll bring that cup of coffee for you later.”

“Hmm…” Lin Xiao Feng turned to the dining area and sat down. Looking at the breakfast that An Nuan had prepared for her put him in a good mood.

A while later, An Nuan walked out of the kitchen while carrying their cups of coffee.

“Look, I didn’t lie to you,” An Nuan said as she placed the cup of coffee for Lin Xiao Feng on the table. “I really can prepare a decent breakfast for us.”
