Chapter 158: Charity Dinner

In the evening, An Nuan wore a dress and looked into the mirror. She spun around to admire the dress on her body.

Earlier, An Nuan hesitated to try on the dress. She video-called her friend Ren Di for fashion advice. After looking at the dresses in her closet, Ren Di chose this one.

She thought that the flower-printed dress looked quite good on her.

After putting on some makeup and doing her hair, An Nuan went downstairs but could not see Lin Xiao Feng anywhere.

In the morning, Lin Xiao Feng offered to send her over to the venue where the charity dinner would be held. He mentioned that he would be home early. But where is he?

An Nuan looked around but could not find the person she was looking for.

She was about to take out her phone and call Lin Xiao Feng when she finally spotted him walking into the room from the side entrance. He held a phone in his hand seemingly talking to someone about work.

Noticing that someone was watching him, Lin Xiao Feng raised his head and met An Nuan’s gaze. He flashed a smile at her before ending his phone call.

Lin Xiao Feng did not immediately go to An Nuan’s side. He stood at the spot to watch An Nuan for a few seconds longer. “Are you ready?” Lin Xiao Feng asked before An Nuan would get uncomfortable under his gaze.

“Mhm… Let’s go.” An Nuan nodded.

The couple left the house together.

Lin Xiao Feng drove into the city while glancing at An Nuan every chance that he got. He could see An Nuan was anxious when he saw her twisting her fingers while looking out the window.

“Are you worried?” Lin Xiao Feng asked after keeping his silence for a long time. He watched as An Nuan turned to look at him and smiled. “An Nuan, you’ll be fine.”

“This is the first time that I’m attending this sort of event on my own. I am quite nervous.”

“It’s not too late to change your mind.”

An Nuan pursed her lips. She did not doubt that Lin Xiao Feng would turn the car around if she told him that she changed her mind. After all, Lin Xiao Feng had always made it clear that he did not need her to do anything to help him with his career.

This charity dinner will be attended by the madams whose husbands are in the same circle as Lin Xiao Feng and the mayor.

It would be helpful for Lin Xiao Feng in the future if she get along with the madams.

However, An Nuan would not admit what she wanted to do. She told Lin Xiao Feng that she wanted to get to know a few people because she was bored and did not know many people in Capital City.

“I’m not going to change my mind,” An Nuan said. “You are right. I will be fine. It’s just a meeting with a few madams. Moreover, Madam Jiang will be with me.”

Lin Xiao Feng did not make any comment.

Soon, they reached the venue where the charity dinner will be held.

“An Nuan.” Lin Xiao Feng called her name before An Nuan could step out of the car. “Be careful.”

An Nuan looked surprised at Lin Xiao Feng’s reminder. She composed her thoughts immediately and smiled. “Mmm… I will.”

“If something happened… If you are uncomfortable with the event, you should call me. I’ll come over and pick you up.”

An Nuan did not know whether she should laugh.

She realized that Lin Xiao Feng liked to worry a lot.

“I’ll keep that in mind,” An Nuan said. She pushed the door open and stepped out.

“An Nuan.” Lin Xiao Feng called again. “Call me when you’re done. I’ll come over and pick you up.”

After exchanging a few more words, An Nuan finally turned around and entered the building.

Lin Xiao Feng stayed in the car and waited until he could no longer see his wife. Only then did he drive away.

An Nuan was greeted by the staff as soon as she stepped into the building.

Hearing that she was a guest of Madam Jiang, the staff then led An Nuan further into the building until they reached a private room.

An Nuan inhaled a deep breath before she followed the staff into the room.

It did not take her too long to find Madam Jiang.

As she walked closer, An Nuan saw that Madam Jiang was chatting with a few of her friends.

Noticing that someone was walking over, Madam Jiang looked up. Her eyes lit up when she saw An Nuan walking over. Madam Jiang excused herself from her friends before coming to An Nuan’s side.

“An Nuan, you are here.” Madam Jiang gave An Nuan a look over. “I’m so glad that you can make it here.”

“Madam Jiang, thank you for your invitation.” An Nuan had a polite smile on her lips.

The two of them exchanged brief pleasantries. Then, Madam Jiang took An Nuan’s hand and brought her to her friends.

An Nuan was introduced to both Madam Tan and Madam Mu as Lin Xiao Feng’s wife.

The madams were surprised.

Lin Xiao Feng was someone under the mayor’s wing. Naturally, he was quite popular among the ladies.

The madams wanted to introduce Lin Xiao Feng to their daughters as he was single and available.
