Chapter 159: Someone is Here to Pick You Up

Madam Jiang took care of An Nuan throughout the charity dinner. She kept An Nuan close to her and introduced her to many people. The madams were older than her. A lot of them were mostly around her mother’s age.

There were a few ladies around An Nuan’s age.

An Nuan would chat with everyone politely. But it was not easy for her to blend into their conversation, especially when everyone seemed to know each other.

Once dinner began, An Nuan sat at the table while eating her food slowly.

Her eyes swept around the private room as An Nuan tried to recall the madams that she was introduced to.

There were a few who she felt that she could get along with. Then, there were a few madams who An Nuan felt she needed to get close to.

Before the meal ended, it was announced that the money they received from the dinner would be donated to an orphanage in the city. From the look of it, it seemed that Madam Jiang and the ladies often donated their money to this orphanage.

An Nuan had donated quite a sum of money to the orphanage before she came over.

The amount she prepared was something that she had discussed with her mother previously. The amount was not that little or that many. She did not want people to think that she was a cheapskate or showing off to others.

The host announced the amount they managed to gather from the charity dinner.

The room was filled with the attendees’ clapping sound. The amount they collected this time had surpassed their previous collection.

“An Nuan.”

Madam Jiang’s voice snapped An Nuan out of her trance.

“How are you going back after this?” Madam Jiang asked. “Should I give you a lift?”

“Thank you, Madam Jiang. But my husband will be coming over to pick me up after this,” An Nuan said.

The older lady smiled. “It seems that your relationship with Lin Xiao Feng is quite good.”

An Nuan just smiled. “Not bad.”

“How do you find this event?” Madam Jiang asked. “Are you able to get along with everyone?”

An Nuan had a lot of things in her mind but she did not think that she should be saying what was in her mind. “This event is quite good. Everyone here is very friendly. This is the first time I’m attending this sort of event. Madam Jiang, I think I still have a lot to learn.”

Madam Jiang smiled. “Then, next time, you should come over and join me again.”

“Madam Jiang, if you invite me out, I will definitely come out.”

The phone in An Nuan’s purse vibrated.

An Nuan took out her phone and smiled when she saw a text from Lin Xiao Feng, asking her about her event. She replied to his text before sliding her phone back into her purse.

Not long after, the charity dinner finally reached the end.

An Nuan stayed with Madam Jiang for a while to greet the other madams.

Madam Jiang and a few elderly ladies left the event first once the event had concluded.

An Nuan bid them goodbyes and waited for Lin Xiao Feng in the lounge.

“Mrs. Lin, are you heading back now?”

The voice coming from behind her made An Nuan turn around. A smile appeared on her lips when she recognized who it was. “Madam Tan.” An Nuan greeted the older woman politely. “Ah, yes. Madam Tan, you are still here?”

“I still have a few matters to look after,” Madam Tan said.

An Nuan understood that now that Madam Jiang had left, Madam Tan had to stay around to ensure that nothing happened after the event ended.

“Madam Tan, do you need any help?”

Madam Tan was about to answer when she noticed a figure walking into the building. Her expression changed when she recognized who it was. “There’s no need. An Nuan, it seems that someone is here to pick you up.”

An Nuan had a puzzled look on her face. She turned to follow Madam Tan’s line of gaze and finally saw Lin Xiao Feng standing at the entrance.

Lin Xiao Feng walked over and stopped beside An Nuan. “Madam Tan, hello.”

“Mr. Lin, hello,” Madam Tan greeted him. She shifted her gaze to An Nuan. “You are here to pick up your wife?”

“Hmm…” Lin Xiao Feng reached for An Nuan’s hand and held it tight. Now that they were in front of someone, An Nuan probably thought that he was holding her hand for a show. “Madam Tan, is there anything else you need from my wife?”

“No. The event ended a while ago. Most of everyone had left,” Madam Tan said. “Mr. Lin, you can bring your wife home.”

“An Nuan?” Lin Xiao Feng glanced at his wife. “Should we go now?”

An Nuan nodded. She exchanged a few more words with Madam Tan before finally leaving with Lin Xiao Feng.

“How was the event?” Lin Xiao Feng asked once he entered the main road.

“It’s okay,” An Nuan said. “I met a lot of new people.”

“Did you have fun?”

An Nuan looked at Lin Xiao Feng and smiled. “It was a charity event. I wouldn’t say that going to an event such as this is fun.”

Lin Xiao Feng laughed. “You don’t have to attend an event like that again the next time.”

“It’s not possible. If Madam Jiang invites me out again, I will have to consider going,” An Nuan said. “I can consider meeting the ladies as a way to understand my customer’s preferences.”

An Nuan knew that she could not stay at home all the time and work on her sketches. She needed to go out sometimes and meet people. Otherwise, she would have gone crazy.

Moreover, as Lin Xiao Feng’s wife, this is what she should do.

Even if Lin Xiao Feng did not want her help, An Nuan still wanted to help him in any way that she could.

Lin Xiao Feng laughed. He did not think that An Nuan would consider meeting those madams as a way for her to promote her jewelry. Hearing that she had her reasons, Lin Xiao Feng decided not to say anything else.
