An Nuan merely went downstairs to look for something to eat. But why did it feel as if she had been running around a large field? Once she returned to her room, her knees finally gave in, and An Nuan found that she could no longer stand up. If it was not for the door behind her to lean on, she might have slumped to the ground.

However, An Nuan began to hesitate when she recalled the look in Lin Xiao Feng’s eyes as he asked her to give him a chance.

Lin Xiao Feng has been very good to her from the beginning.

She did not have the heart to hurt him.

Perhaps, it would be better if she did not say anything at the moment. She would pretend as if Lin Xiao Feng’s confession did not happen.

In the next few days, An Nuan tried to busy herself with her work.

An Nuan opened her door only to see the bright smile on Auntie Yu’s face. Then, her gaze fell on the bouquet of roses in Auntie Yu’s hands.

“Mrs. Lin,” Auntie Yu spoke before An Nuan could say a word. “It’s a delivery for you.” She pushed the bouquet into An Nuan’s arm. “This should be from Mr. Lin.”

Her eyes widened in surprise.

An Nuan looked at the flowers in her hand with a dazed look in her eyes.

Flowers?

From Lin Xiao Feng?

Why did he suddenly send her flowers?

Auntie Yu smiled as she saw the dazed look on An Nuan’s face.

She thought that An Nuan was so touched by Lin Xiao Feng’s gesture that she could not find a word to say.

“Mrs. Lin, I’ll go and get a vase for the flowers.” Without waiting for An Nuan to reply, Auntie Yu went downstairs again and left An Nuan to admire the flowers.

An Nuan was still staring at the flowers even after Auntie Yu was gone for a long time.

The flowers were pretty and it smelled so good. But An Nuan did not know why Lin Xiao Feng was sending her flowers.

Is there any occasion?

The ringing coming from the inside of her room snapped An Nuan out of her trance.

She placed the bouquet on the coffee table before going to look for her phone.

Her heartbeat went fast as she saw Lin Xiao Feng’s name on her phone screen.

After a brief hesitation, An Nuan finally picked up the phone call.

“An Nuan?” Lin Xiao Feng called the moment the phone call went through.

“Yes.” An Nuan glanced at the flowers on the table. Her thoughts were everywhere and she did not know what she should think about the flowers that Lin Xiao Feng sent.

“Are you free this evening?”

An Nuan pulled her eyes away from the flowers. “What’s wrong?”

“I mentioned to you that Yu Han and his wife invited us to a small gathering. I was wondering if you still wanted to go,” Lin Xiao Feng said.

When Lin Xiao Feng mentioned the gathering to An Nuan a few days ago, An Nuan quickly agreed, thinking that it would be fun to meet Zhang Yu Han’s wife again.

But, after his confession, Lin Xiao Feng understood if An Nuan wanted to change her mind.

He figured that An Nuan probably did not have the mood to hang out with him and his friends.

Even though An Nuan had promised that she wouldn’t be avoiding him, Lin Xiao Feng could sense that An Nuan would find an excuse to leave whenever he was around.

“The gathering is today?”

“Mhm.”

An Nuan hesitated briefly. Then, she thought that they might still need to keep an appearance as a good husband and wife in front of others. “Alright.” An Nuan agreed. “I’ll go.”

Lin Xiao Feng could not hide his surprise when he heard An Nuan agree before he could coax her.

But it was also good that An Nuan was no longer avoiding him.

“Alright then.” A faint smile curled on Lin Xiao Feng’s face. “I’ll pick you up at home after work.”
