Chapter 179: A Date?

After a long chat with her mother, An Nuan went downstairs, wanting to look for something to eat.

Her steps halted once she heard a movement coming from the entrance. She turned to look only to see Lin Xiao Feng walk through the door.

Their gaze met and An Nuan was the first to look away.

“You’re early.”An Nuan said as she glanced toward the clock on the wall. Her brow furrowed when she noticed Lin Xiao Feng was half an hour earlier than usual.

“Hmm…” Lin Xiao Feng changed his slippers before walking over. “I was accompanying the Mayor to visit a site earlier. The visit ended earlier than we thought.”

Just in time, Auntie Yu walked into the room after hearing their voices.

Auntie Yu smiled when she saw Lin Xiao Feng. “Mr. Lin, you’re back.” She glanced at the clock and continued, “I was about to prepare dinner. Mr. Lin, is there anything you would like to eat?”

Lin Xiao Feng did not answer immediately but instead glanced at An Nuan. “It has been a while since we went out for a meal. An Nuan, should we go out and have our dinner together?”

“Ah?” An Nuan looked at Lin Xiao Feng in a daze. She was not expecting Lin Xiao Feng to suddenly ask her out.

Thinking about it, An Nuan realized that they hadn’t gone out for a meal for a long time.

“An Nuan?”

Lin Xiao Feng’s voice snapped An Nuan out of her trance.

“Do you have something to do later?” Lin Xiao Feng asked when An Nuan did not answer his question.

“No.” An Nuan shook her head. She recalled Lin Xiao Feng’s invitation again and hesitated briefly. “I guess it should be alright.”

Seeing the light in Lin Xiao Feng’s eyes and the smile on his face made An Nuan look away.

Something that Ren Di had said to her the other day appeared in her mind.

An Nuan remembered that Ren Di had advised her to lean back and enjoy how Lin Xiao Feng was going to pursue her. She should keep her eyes on Lin Xiao Feng and see where their relationship would lead them.

“Auntie Yu.” Lin Xiao Feng looked at the older woman again. “You don’t have to worry about dinner. My wife and I will be having our meal outside.”

An Nuan’s heart skipped a beat at a word that Lin Xiao Feng had used to address her.

Wife?

This was not the first time she had heard Lin Xiao Feng address her as his wife. Then, why would hearing his words make her react abnormally?

“Certainly, Mr. Lin.” Auntie Yu smiled brightly. She was glad to see the couple having a good relationship. Moreover, she could head home earlier as she won’t have to think about preparing dinner for the couple.

An Nuan watched as Lin Xiao Feng chatted with Auntie Yu briefly. While the two were not paying attention to her, An Nuan turned around, wanting to escape to her room. She needed to go away to calm down.

“An Nuan.”

Lin Xiao Feng’s voice made her stop on her track.

“Just come over when you are ready,” Lin Xiao Feng said. “I’ll wait for you here.”

An Nuan nodded before turning around to her room again.

She closed her door and leaned on the wall as she thought about going out with Lin Xiao Feng for a meal.

In the past, An Nuan would not have thought of anything if Lin Xiao Feng had invited her out. However, it hasn’t been a long time since Lin Xiao Feng announced that he was going to pursue her properly.

Then, going out to have dinner with him this time… should this be considered a date?

An Nuan inhaled a deep breath.

Something in her stomach was doing a summersault, making her feel a bit queasy.

An Nuan looked around her room before her eyes finally stopped at the tall wardrobe in her room. Subconsciously, An Nuan walked to her wardrobe to look at the clothes hanging inside.

After looking at a few clothes, An Nuan finally snapped out of her trance.

Why was she worried about which clothes she should wear?

Why does it seem as if she was looking forward to this meal?

It was going to be a simple meal. She probably should stop overthinking.

An Nuan took a step back and inhaled a deep breath.

She wondered if she had gone crazy after Lin Xiao Feng announced that he was going to pursue her the other day.

Almost an hour later, An Nuan came down again dressed in a simple pastel blue dress and a cardigan.

She reminded herself not to care much about her outfit. But An Nuan ended up spending her time in front of her wardrobe.

When she arrived in the living room, An Nuan found that Lin Xiao Feng was already waiting for her.

Lin Xiao Feng already changed his work attire and was dressed in a simple shirt and black pants.

Her face felt a bit warmer at the scene in front of her.

“An Nuan.”

She watched him, wondering what he was going to tell her.

“You look beautiful.”

An Nuan inhaled a sharp breath.

Realizing that the heat was creeping up to her face, An Nuan quickly looked away to avoid Lin Xiao Feng’s eyes. “Thank you.” She cleared her throat, feeling awkward in front of Lin Xiao Feng at this moment.

“Should we go now?”

An Nuan lowered her head and saw Lin Xiao Feng stretching out his hand, waiting for her to hold it.
