Chapter 183: Assistant Lu’s Help

An Nuan stared at the flower-shaped balloon Lin Xiao Feng gave her last night.

There were three stalks of flowers, each in a different color. A gold ribbon at the center tied the stalks together. The flowers were pretty and colorful. Just staring at the balloons would make her happy.

Actually, An Nuan did not know how she should feel about the balloons. It seemed that this was the first time that someone had given her some balloons after she had turned into an adult.

An Nuan could not deny that receiving a gift from Lin Xiao Feng made her happy.

Her thoughts went back to her outing with Lin Xiao Feng last night.

His words about giving her flowers because they were on a date made her laugh.

Later, Lin Xiao Feng told her that this was the first time he ever dated someone. He asked her to say to him if he ever made a mistake.

The knocking on her door snapped An Nuan out of her thoughts.

An Nuan walked to her door and found Auntie Yu standing in front of her.

“Mrs. Lin,” Auntie Yu called politely. “Assistant Lu is here to see you.”

“Assistant Lu?” Her brow furrowed.

“He said, it was Mr. Lin who sent him here.”

It was then that An Nuan remembered her talk with Lin Xiao Feng last night.

She told him that she was thinking of hiring a few people to help her manage her business. Then, Lin Xiao Feng suggested that she use his assistant, Lu Zheng, for a few weeks.

Initially, An Nuan rejected Lin Xiao Feng’s offer. But then, she realized that she really needed help as there was a lot that she did not know about.

However, An Nuan did not expect that Assistant Lu would be coming to look for her this early. She planned to ask for Assistant Lu’s number from Lin Xiao Feng later and discussed some matters with him over the phone first.

After changing her clothes, An Nuan went downstairs and found that Assistant Lu was waiting for him in the living room.

Assistant Lu turned upon hearing the sound of her footsteps. His eyes lit up and he immediately stood up with a polite smile on his face. “Mrs. Lin, hello.”

“Assistant Lu.” An Nuan nodded. She turned to Auntie Yu and instructed her to prepare some refreshments for Lu Zheng.

Once Auntie Yu went into the kitchen, An Nuan turned to Lu Zheng again.

“Mr. Lin told me that you needed my help to recruit some help for your company,” Lu Zheng said.

“Hmm…” An Nuan smiled. “I was going to discuss this matter with you over the phone. I did not expect that you would show up here this early.”

Lu Zheng had a sheepish smile on his face. “Mr. Lin mentioned that you might be busy soon. It is better to quickly find some help.”

An Nuan looked at the assistant with interest. “Just what else did my husband tell you?”

Without Lin Xiao Feng around, addressing him as her husband came out naturally from An Nuan’s lips.

Lu Zheng briefed An Nuan about what his boss had told him earlier.

This time, he came to their house to meet An Nuan to find out more details on what she might need.

An Nuan told Lu Zheng about her situation and leaned on the sofa behind her. “What do you think? Assistant Lu, do you think you can help me?”

“It should not be difficult,” Assistant Lu said confidently.

An Nuan nodded. “But, will helping me interrupt your job in assisting my husband? After all, you are his assistant.”

Assistant Lu smiled. “Mrs. Lin, you don’t have to worry about this. I can manage.”

Of course, Assistant Lu was not going to tell An Nuan that his boss had given him a few weeks off so that he could help her without worrying about his task at the company.

Besides, Lin Xiao Feng was his boss and he was hired to do whatever task he was assigned to.

“My husband said you are very capable,” An Nuan said. “I am going to trust his words. Assistant Lu, I will be counting on you to help me with the recruitment.”

An Nuan sat with Assistant Lu to discuss what she might need later.

Assistant Lu listened to her words attentively and made a few suggestions. He held the tablet in his hand while jotting down some important information on them.

“Then, Mrs. Lin, I will make the advertisement first and see the responses,” Assistant Lu said.

“Thank you.” An Nuan heaved a breath of relief.

After talking to Assistant Lu for a while, she was confident that he would be able to help her with what she needed.

Assistant Lu continued to jot down a few remarks on his tablet. Then, he looked up and asked, “Mrs. Lin, is there anything else that you would like to add?”

An Nuan thought over Assistant Lu’s question. She sat up straight as a thought came to her mind. “Since you are helping me this time, I need to know how much I should be paying you for your salary.”

Assistant Lu hesitated.

He already received his salary from his boss. He did not feel right to receive more money from An Nuan.

“Mrs. Lin, you don’t have to worry about it,” Assistant Lu said. “I already received my salary from Mr. Lin.”

“That is the salary you received from my husband,” An Nuan said. “This time, you are working for me. Assistant Lu, I cannot take advantage of you.”

Assistant Lu hesitated. He wanted to decline the salary from An Nuan. However, looking at her face, Assistant Lu had a feeling that declining the salary would not be that easy. They might end up discussing the payment for a long time and none of them would be able to back down.

He would love to receive more money. But then, Assistant Lu was worried that his boss would be unhappy when he heard that he had received some money from his wife.

“How about this…” Assistant Lu spoke after staying quiet for a while. “Mrs. Lin, why don’t you discuss this matter with Mr. Lin first?”
