“Lin Xiao Feng, listen to me first,” An Nuan said. I can agree to work with Assistant Lu but you need to let me pay for his salary too.”

Lin Xiao Feng blinked as he looked at An Nuan.

He had just entered the house after returning from the office when he found his wife waiting for him in the living room.

Lin Xiao Feng had to admit that being greeted by his wife the moment he returned from work was quite refreshing. However, the matters that An Nuan wanted to discuss with him were something that he did not look forward to.

Why are they discussing his assistant’s salary the moment he returns?

“Lin Xiao Feng,’ An Nuan answered his name again when she saw that he was not listening to her. “Let’s discuss this with me, alright?”

A faint chuckle escaped him.

Lin Xiao Feng thought that the anxious look on An Nuan’s face was quite adorable, giving him the urge to pinch her on the cheek.

He quickly looked away before he would do something to her.

“I just got home,” Lin Xiao Feng said. “Let me drink a glass of water first before we can talk about this.”

The light in An Nuan’s eyes lit up.

Seeing that Lin Xiao Feng was heading to the kitchen, she immediately blocked his path. “Let me go and get that glass of water for you,” An Nuan said when Lin Xiao Feng looked at her in puzzlement. She grabbed his hand and led him to the sofa. “You sit here. I’ll be back.”

Without waiting for Lin Xiao Feng to respond, An Nuan turned around and ran towards the kitchen.

Lin Xiao Feng watched An Nuan’s figure disappear behind the wall and smiled.

Looking at her enthusiastic self, Lin Xiao Feng figured that her discussion with Assistant Lu Zheng was going well.

Not that he hadn’t heard anything through his assistant.

It did not take long for An Nuan to return to the living room again.

She was holding a tray with a glass of iced water in her hand.

The moment their gazes met, Lin Xiao Feng could still see the hint of excitement in her eyes.

“Here you go.” An Nuan handed the glass of water to Lin Xiao Feng. She watched him drink the water slowly before he finally placed the glass on the coffee table.

Lin Xiao Feng heaved a long sigh. He looked at An Nuan again and chuckled. “Alright. Sit down first.” He watched as An Nuan sat next to him and spoke, “How was your talk with Assistant Lu? I assume that everything is well?”

“Mhm.” An Nuan nodded. “I talked to Assistant Lu about my matters. He gave me a few suggestions and I think it might work. He worked very quickly. I just talked to him in the afternoon and he already emailed me back a few hours ago. Anyway… Lin Xiao Feng, you are going to let me borrow Assistant Lu for a few weeks, right?”

“That’s right.” Lin Xiao Feng nodded.

“Then, while he is not working for you, let me pay for his salary instead,” An Nuan said.

Lin Xiao Feng raised a brow. “That won’t do. Assistant Lu’s salary is fixed monthly.”

“Then, let me pay a portion of that to you.”

A chuckle escaped his lips. “Do you know how much Assistant Lu gets as my assistant?”

An Nuan began to hesitate when she heard Lin Xiao Feng’s question.

The workload working for Lin Xiao Feng should not be light. Then, his salary should be a lot, considering his workload. Otherwise, Assistant Lu would not stay working for Lin Xiao Feng this long.

“How much?” An Nuan thought about the money she had in her bank account and frowned.

Her business had just started and she did not have a lot of capital yet.

An Nuan knew that she would have to use her personal money to pay for Assistant Lu’s salary.

“It doesn’t matter,” An Nuan said. “I can afford it. Anyway, it’s not like I’m without money.”

The proud look on An Nuan’s face almost made Lin Xiao Feng laugh again.

His wife was too cute.

“I will be paying him for as long as he works for me,” An Nuan continued. “I shouldn’t go penniless because of this, right?”

She came from a well-off family. Money was not something that she should be worrying about.

Lin Xiao Feng nodded again. “Even if you go penniless, you still have me.”

“That’s right.” An Nuan agreed. “I still have you.”

Her movement halted.

An Nuan realized that her agreement sounded a bit strange.

Her heart skipped a beat.

She looked at Lin Xiao Feng and saw him smiling happily at her.

Instantly, An Nuan felt the heat creeping up to her face.

Why did she have to follow Lin Xiao Feng’s words?

An Nuan cleared her throat in her attempt to calm down. “Then, Lin Xiao Feng, you agree to let me pay for Assistant Lu’s salary for as long as he works for me, right?”

Lin Xiao Feng did not think that he had the will to say no to An Nuan’s request. “Alright.” He started to laugh when he saw the light in An Nuan’s eyes. “You can pay for his salary. An Nuan, you can discuss this matter with Assistant Lu later on. As for how long he will be working with you, you can discuss it with him as well. I don’t mind even if Assistant Lu stays with you for more than a couple of weeks. Just don’t take too long.”

Assistant Lu Zheng was someone that Lin Xiao Feng trusted. He believed that his assistant would be able to help his wife with everything she needed. However, Lin Xiao Feng was not willing to lend Assistant Lu for too long. He was afraid that he would be jealous if he saw the two working together for too long.
