Chapter 189: Adrenaline Rush

An Nuan was finally able to calm down, knowing that the creature she saw earlier was not any ghost or monster. She was just too frightened after watching the movie with Han Yue Xiu and started to overthink.

Now that she was calmer, An Nuan was too embarrassed to face Lin Xiao Feng.

She wondered what he might think of her after everything.

“An Nuan…”

An Nuan raised her head when she heard Lin Xiao Feng’s voice.

“It’s getting late. You should go to bed now,” Lin Xiao Feng said. “The cockroach is gone. You don’t have anything to be afraid of.” He paused briefly as a thought came to his mind. “Tomorrow, I will call the pest control to look around.”

“Mhm…” An Nuan nodded. She did not dare to meet Lin Xiao Feng’s eyes for too long as she was still embarrassed.

Lin Xiao Feng heaved a sigh. There was a hint of helplessness in his smile. “Then, I will get going first.” He reached to pat her head softly.”An Nuan, good night.” Lin Xiao Feng turned around to leave. However, his movement halted again when he felt a tugging on his shirt. He turned again only to see An Nuan holding the corner of his shirt. His brow furrowed. “An Nuan?”

An Nuan slowly looked up to meet Lin Xiao Feng’s eyes. Her lips moved to say something. But in the end, she did not know what she should say.

“What’s wrong?” Lin Xiao Feng asked. His brow furrowed as he looked at his wife. “An Nuan, are you okay?”

An Nuan did not want to tell Lin Xiao Feng she was afraid. However, she also knew that if she continued to remain silent, Lin Xiao Feng would leave.

“I’m just afraid.”

“Of what?”

An Nuan pursed her lips. She thought Lin Xiao Feng would think she was a silly woman if she told him she was afraid of ghosts.

Lin Xiao Feng was puzzled when by An Nuan’s strange behavior.

He knew that An Nuan was a screedycat but she was never as scared as she was now.

He recalled how An Nuan was shocked when he spoke to her the moment she entered the house earlier. A thought came to his mind, making Lin Xiao Feng lean forward to his wife. “An Nuan, what sort of movie that you and Han Yue Xiu watched earlier.”

An Nuan stared back at Lin Xiao Feng with a pair of puppy eyes. “A comedy horror movie.” Her voice was a whisper.

The corner of Lin Xiao Feng’s lips began to twitch.

He understood now why An Nuan was behaving a little strangely.

“You know that you are afraid of ghosts,” Lin Xiao Feng said with a sigh. “Then, why did you go and watch such a movie?”

“It was Yue Xiu who chose the movie,” An Nuan said.

“Didn’t you tell her that you are afraid of ghosts?”

An Nuan bit her lips. “I thought that watching a comedy horror should be alright. It should not be as scary, right? Besides, watching a horror movie can be exciting as well.”

“Exciting?” Lin Xiao Feng raised a brow. “You enjoyed the adrenaline rush?”

An Nuan nodded slowly. “You can say it like that.”

It wasn’t as scary when she had someone to accompany her to watch the movie.

She just thought that the thing she watched on the screen would stay there. For An Nuan, movies are movies. It was different from real life. Who would have thought that a certain scene from the movie would follow her home?

Her mind kept on replaying the scene, scaring her.

Lin Xiao Feng wanted to scold the silly woman in front of him. However, the pitiful look on her face was making it hard for him to say anything. Each time he looked at An Nuan’s face, his heart would soften. How could he bear to scold her?

Moreover, the scared An Nuan was too adorable.

He really wanted to pinch her cheek to vent.

Lin Xiao Feng shifted his gaze to An Nuan’s hand which was still pinching the corner of his shirt. It seemed that she was not going to let him go anytime soon.

Look. Wasn’t she just adorable?

If they were in a different situation, he would be happier to see An Nuan taking the initiative.

“Then, what do you suggest we do? We can’t both stay awake.”

An Nuan also knew that asking Lin Xiao Feng to stay awake with her was too unreasonable. Lin Xiao Feng still has to work tomorrow and she was already disturbing him enough.

As the thought came to her mind, An Nuan quickly loosened her grip on Lin Xiao Feng’s shirt.

“I’m sorry.” An Nuan lowered her gaze again. “You should go to bed. I won’t be disturbing you anymore.”

An Nuan sounded as if she would cry.

Listening to her voice made him feel as if his bones would melt. He was always weak when it came to this girl.

Lin Xiao Feng stared at An Nuan for a bit. Then, he went down on his knees so that he could look his wife in the eyes. “An Nuan, you are not disturbing me. In fact, I am quite happy that you came to look for me. It means that you trust me. And I want you to rely on me a little more.”

Her heartbeat accelerated as she met Lin Xiao Feng’s gaze.

“Now, tell me.” Lin Xiao Feng smiled. “An Nuan, are you scared?”

An Nuan hesitated briefly before she finally nodded. She did not want to lie.

“You don’t want to be alone?” Lin Xiao Feng asked again.

An Nuan nodded. Then, she quickly shook her head. “No. I’ll be fine.”

Lin Xiao Feng stood up.

Just as An Nuan thought that he was going to leave, Lin Xiao Feng suddenly stretched his hand at her. An Nuan looked up with a puzzled look on her face.

“Come here.”Lin Xiao Feng said, Seeing the dazed look on her face, Lin Xiao Feng pulled An Nuan to stand up with him.

Without saying anything, he led her to her bed and let her sit. “Go to sleep.”

“Oh.” An Nuan lowered her head again. She figured that Lin Xiao Feng was probably going to leave now.

“Don’t be afraid,” Lin Xiao Feng said. “I’ll stay here with you.”

An Nuan’s mind was running wild upon hearing Lin Xiao Feng’s words.

“I’ll sleep on the sofa,” Lin Xiao Feng continued. “If you’re scared, you can just call my name, alright?”
