The next day, An Nuan woke up early as Lin Xiao Feng had promised to take her up the mountain and watch the sunrise with him.

An Nuan had fallen for the scenery in D Town. It was not easy for them to come to this place. Therefore, she did not want to waste her chance.

The sky was still dark when Lin Xiao Feng stepped out of the bedroom.

He woke up early, thinking that he would have to wake An Nuan first. Unexpectedly, he found her waiting for him in the living area. Their gazes met and Lin Xiao Feng did not miss the expecting look on An Nuan’s face.

A chuckle escaped him. “Good morning. I did not expect that you would wake up this early,” Lin Xiao Feng said.

An Nuan knew that she often woke up later from Lin Xiao Feng and did not mind his remark. “I did not want to miss the sunrise. Didn’t you tell me that I have to wake up early if I did not want to miss it?”

A helpless smile appeared on his lips. Lin Xiao Feng walked to the small pantry and handed An Nuan the buns they purchased from the bakery after dinner last night. “Have some breakfast. You’re going to need the energy.”

Once everything was ready, the couple left their room together.

As they walked into the lobby, they both noticed a young man sitting in the hotel’s lobby.

Noticing their appearance, the young man stood up and walked over.

“Mr. Lin?” The young man inquired.

“Yes.” Lin Xiao Feng nodded.

“Hi, I’m Zhao Yi.” The young man introduced himself. “We spoke on the phone last night. I will be your guide to climb up the mountain today.”

After a brief introduction, the couple left with the guide together.

They climbed on the guide’s truck and headed to the mountain. Before they started, Zhou Yi did not forget to brief them on safety. They were estimated to reach the peak before sunrise.

As they climbed the mountain, An Nuan was relieved to see that many people were also climbing to the top.

The surroundings were dark and she was a bit afraid that ghosts or wild animals would appear.

According to Zhou Yi, most of the hikers were locals who came over to exercise while enjoying nature.

“Are you alright?” Lin Xiao Feng asked. He uncapped a bottle of drinking water and passed it over to An Nuan. “Drink a little bit.”

An Nuan wanted to answer Lin Xiao Feng’s question but ended up panting to catch her breath. She took the bottle from Lin Xiao Feng and took a few sips lest she might choke on her drink.

“Let’s take it slow,” Lin Xiao Feng said. “We’re not rushing.”

After a few deep breaths, An Nuan gradually calmed down. “God. I did not expect that my stamina would be this bad.”

Lin Xiao Feng had a helpless smile on his face. “Next time, you can join me on my morning jog. It will be beneficial for you.”

An Nuan did not look too happy.

Her expression almost made Lin Xiao Feng laugh. “Once every week should be good too. What do you think?”

An Nuan was a little hesitant. After all, she was someone who woke up late. “I will think about it.” She handed the bottle to Lin Xiao Feng again and stood up. “Let’s continue. I don’t want to miss the sunrise.”

Lin Xiao Feng glanced at the guide and signaled him to go slow.

They hiked up again and An Nuan was doing her best to hold on.

Her body was sweating profusely and her legs were shaking.

“Let’s take another break,” Lin Xiao Feng suggested.

“I’m fine.” An Nuan panted. “I can still hold on. Lin Xiao Feng, we are not that far from the top. I can rest once we reach our destination.”

Lin Xiao Feng pursed his lips as he looked at the stubborn person in front of him. But then, seeing her persistence made him swallow the words he wanted to say.

After watching An Nuan for a while, Lin Xiao Feng finally heaved a long sigh.

He caught up with An Nuan and crouched down in front of her. “Get up.”

“Come on. Let me carry you,” Lin Xiao Feng said.

“No.” An Nuan took a step back. “I’m heavy and we’re climbing up. I don’t want to be a burden.”

“An Nuan, you will never be a burden to me.” Lin Xiao Feng’s expression softened. “Come on. Get up. Just like you said, we’re not too far away from the top.” He glanced at the guide and asked, “How much longer do you think we’re going to arrive?”

The guide looked at the path before turning to Lin Xiao Feng again. “Ten minutes?”

Lin Xiao Feng nodded. “An Nuan, get up. Didn’t you say you are not going to miss the sunrise? I can carry you for ten minutes. Trust me.” Seeing that An Nuan was still hesitant, Lin Xiao Feng added. “I won’t let anything happen to you. I promise.”

Her heart began to waver as she looked into Lin Xiao Feng’s firm eyes. “Alright. But Lin Xiao Feng, you have to tell me if you’re tired, alright?”
