Chapter 223: He Wondered if He was Mistaken

After having their lunch at a nearby restaurant, the couple decided to walk along the market while heading towards the dock.

There was quite a lot of fresh produce sold at the market. An Nuan had to admit that the fruits in D Town tasted juicier and sweeter. Their specialties were their cherries but An Nuan thought that the other fruits and vegetables tasted as good.

The locals were quite generous with their samples.

An Nuan was tasting the tartlets the seller had offered her when she caught Lin Xiao Feng looking at her. Something about the way Lin Xiao Feng was looking at her was a bit strange.

Her gaze shifted to the tartlets in her hand. Then, An Nuan waved the tartlets in her hand before Lin Xiao Feng. “Lin Xiao Feng, you want one?”

Her voice snapped Lin Xiao Feng out of his trance. He looked at the pastry in An Nuan’s hand and the corner of his lips started to twitch.

Lin Xiao Feng was aware that he had been staring at An Nuan. However, he did not expect that An Nuan would think that he was eying the tartlets in her hand.

He quickly composes himself before leaning over to eat the tartlets from An Nuan’s hand.

An Nuan pulled her hand away as Lin Xiao Feng’s lips touched her finger. “You…” Her brow furrowed. “Lin Xiao Feng, you should stop this habit of eating food straight from my hand.”

“What’s wrong with it?” Lin Xiao Feng looked as if he did not understand what he had done wrong. “Weren’t you offering that pastry to me?”

An Nuan stared at Lin Xiao Feng speechlessly.

Why didn’t she know that this man could be this shameless?

While An Nuan turned to pick up another piece of pastry, Lin Xiao Feng continued to observe her silently.

The way An Nuan was looking at him in the video earlier replayed in his mind.

He was not wrong.

That gaze gave him the feeling that An Nuan might like him too. But looking at her now, Lin Xiao Feng did not see the same glint in An Nuan’s eyes.

He wondered if he was mistaken.

Perhaps the lighting from the sunlight gave him the illusion that An Nuan was looking at him gently.

He wanted to believe that An Nuan might shared the same feelings as his. At the same time, Lin Xiao Feng did not want to be delusional.

He wanted to say something but was worried that he was mistaken and ended up embarrassing himself in front of An Nuan.

“Lin Xiao Feng, let’s go.” An Nuan flashed a smile as their gazes met.

Noticing that An Nuan was holding the bag of pastries, Lin Xiao Feng took it from her before holding her hand. “Come on.” Lin Xiao Feng glanced at his wristwatch. “We should head to the dock now. Mr. Jiang should be waiting for us.”

An Nuan grew excited, hearing that they were going to take the boat for sightseeing.

After walking around for a while, the couple finally reached the dock. It did not take Lin Xiao Feng a long time to locate Mr. Jiang. He introduced An Nuan as his wife before boarding the boat together.

As Lin Xiao Feng was chatting with Mr. Jiang about the town, An Nuan went to the side to take photos and videos of her surroundings.

She posted a few photos of the beautiful scenery on her social media and got her friends and family’s reaction. Everyone was curious to know where she was.

The lake scenery was beautiful and the ship was luxurious.

Ren Di sent An Nuan a private text, reminding her to let the ship sail.

An Nuan’s lips began to twitch as she saw Ren Di’s reminder.

She did not expect that Ren Di would use this chance to tease her.

“An Nuan.”

Lin Xiao Feng’s voice made An Nuan turn around. She slipped her phone into her pocket before walking over to Lin Xiao Feng.

“Mr. Jiang said we’re leaving now,” Lin Xiao Feng said. “Come on. Let’s sit down first.”

“Mr. Lin.” Jiang Quan walked over with two safety jackets in his hand. “You should take this.”

“Thank you.” Lin Xiao Feng nodded. He took the jackets and handed one to An Nuan.

Lin Xiao Feng put on his jacket first. Then, noticing that An Nuan was struggling with hers, Lin Xiao Feng leaned over and said, “Let me help you.”

Without waiting for An Nuan to reply, Lin Xiao Feng began to help her adjust the buckle around her waist and chest.

While Lin Xiao Feng was concentrating on his task, An Nuan raised her head to look at Lin Xiao Feng. Her heart raced, noticing that they were standing too close. She could see his long lashes.

“We should take a seat.” An Nuan quickly looked away. A breath of relief escaped her as she managed to avoid Lin Xiao Feng’s gaze. She did not know why but something about Lin Xiao Feng’s gaze earlier was making her nervous.

While An Nuan was relieved, Lin Xiao Feng could not help but feel slightly disappointed.

Thinking about that video again made him wonder if he had made a mistake. Perhaps, his eyes were playing tricks on him.

Perhaps, he wished for An Nuan to reciprocate his feelings that much that he had seen things that were not there.

Once again, he had to remind himself to be patient with An Nuan.
