An Nuan was not paying attention to Lin Xiao Feng’s question.

“My mother was looking for you,” An Nuan said. “Lin Xiao Feng, you didn’t close your door last night. My mother was looking for you but did not see you inside. She probably thought that you didn’t come home last night. I told her that you probably went for your morning jog. “Mom will keep her eyes on the entrance,” An Nuan continued. “She will know that you didn’t go to your morning jog.”

An Nuan tried to think of an explanation she should give her mother later.

Lin Xiao Feng placed a hand on An Nuan’s shoulder, hoping to calm her down. “Alright. Calm down. I know what I should do.”

An Nuan looked at Lin Xiao Feng anxiously.

“Since Mom is expecting me to return from my morning run, then, I can only go on my morning run. Once Mom sees me walking through the door, she will not think of anything.”

An Nuan blinked. “How are you going to leave the house?”

If she was not mistaken, her mother would be in the living room. It was impossible to use the kitchen’s entrance. Then… the side door?

She could not remember where her mother had placed the keys.

Anyway, no one used that door to enter and leave the house through that door. The side door will only be used during a festivity.

Lin Xiao Feng did not answer. Instead, he walked over to the window. “It’s not that high.”

“I won’t let you do it,” An Nuan said. “It’s too dangerous. What if you had an accident?” She took a deep breath and turned around. “Forget it. I’ll just tell my mother the truth. I am planning to tell her anyway.”

She should suck up and thicken her skin before telling her mother.

It wasn’t as if her mother was going to scold her.

“Then…” She bit her lips as she considered Lin Xiao Feng’s words. “I will go and wash up first.”

An Nuan planned to figure out how she should talk to her mother while she was in the shower.

“Lin Xiao Feng, you are not allowed to jump down the window.”

Lin Xiao Feng chuckled. “I won’t.”

“You are not allowed to go to my mother first before I come out,” An Nuan said.

“Alright.” Lin Xiao Feng nodded. “I will listen to you.” He was amused that An Nuan would think that he would go and meet his mother-in-law first.

Lin Xiao Feng leaned to peck An Nuan on the cheek. Before An Nuan could react, Lin Xiao Feng turned her body to the bathroom. “Go on.”

An Nuan stared at Lin Xiao Feng for a brief second. Once she was confident that this man would not suddenly disappear, An Nuan finally walked into the bathroom.

The door was closed. Lin Xiao Feng could no longer hide the smile on his face.

Lin Xiao Feng knocked on the bathroom door. “An Nuan.”

“What is it?” An Nuan had just taken off her top when she heard Lin Xiao Feng’s voice behind the door.

“I will go to the guest room to shower first, alright?” Lin Xiao Feng said.

“Un. Go ahead. I will find you in a while.”
