Lin Xiao Feng spoke a few words with his assistant before taking his wife to leave.

An Nuan looked around and realized that Secretary Shi was nowhere to be seen. An Nuan was in a good mood. After all, she did not like seeing the secretary around Lin Xiao Feng, especially when she knew that Secretary Shi had feelings for her husband.

Moreover, An Nuan always thought that Secretary Shi was not a good person.

She knew that Lin Xiao Feng was married but was still trying to win his attention.

Lin Xiao Feng took An Nuan to a restaurant near his office for dinner before heading back home.

Even though he had eaten some food that his wife had brought for him earlier, Lin Xiao Feng could eat a little more with his wife around.

Once they reached home, An Nuan headed to their room to wash up. Meanwhile, Lin Xiao Feng headed to the office to look at a few documents.

When An Nuan came out of the bathroom, Lin Xiao Feng still had not returned.

After doing her skincare routine, An Nuan went to the office to check on Lin Xiao Feng.

She stood at the door and saw Lin Xiao Feng on a phone call.

Lin Xiao Feng shot An Nuan an apologetic look as their gazes met.

An Nuan stepped into the study and stood at the end of the desk as she waited for Lin Xiao Feng to finish his call. Unexpectedly, Lin Xiao Feng pulled her into his embrace and pecked on her lips.

Lin Xiao Feng was really good. He could steal a kiss while discussing something important.

An Nuan wanted to complain but noticing Lin Xiao Feng’s serious tone while he was speaking with the other party made her restrain herself. She wanted to leave but Lin Xiao Feng was holding her hand tight.

Fortunately, the phone call did not last for too long.

An Nuan was about to say something when Lin Xiao Feng beat her to it.

“I was invited to attend an event tomorrow,” Lin Xiao Feng said.

The words she wanted to say quickly disappeared from her mind. When An Nuan heard Lin Xiao Feng’s announcement, she thought that this man was going to tell her that he wouldn’t be able to accompany her for dinner tomorrow.

“There will be a lot of socializing,” Lin Xiao Feng continued. “I was wondering if you would like to go with me? The mayor and his wife will be attending as well.”

An Nuan could not hide her surprise.

After they married, Lin Xiao Feng did not ask her to accompany him to any event. This would be the first time he invited her to go with him.

An Nuan stared at Lin Xiao Feng for a long time, wondering what was going through his mind.

“Do you want me to go?” An Nuan asked.

Lin Xiao Feng rubbed his thumb against An Nuan’s cheek. “Of course.”

An Nuan smiled. “Then, I will go with you.”

“I’ll pick you up after work. Then, we can head to the event together.

“Alright.” An Nuan nodded. She leaned closer to Lin Xiao Feng and narrowed her eyes. “I am curious about something.”

“What is it?” Lin Xiao Feng raised a brow.

“You attended a few events in the past but you never asked me to come along,” An Nuan said. “Why is that?”

An Nuan heard that Lin Xiao Feng would always show up alone at the events. Sometimes, he would bring Assistant Lu along with him. Back then, she told Lin Xiao Feng that she did not mind attending any event with him. After all, she understood that Lin Xiao Feng would need her to help him in some matters for his career. However, Lin Xiao Feng did not ask her to accompany him.

Lin Xiao Feng hesitated.

“Tell me the truth,” An Nuan said.

Lin Xiao Feng heaved a faint sigh. “Nuan Nuan, I told you that I don’t need you to help me with my career. I know that when you marry me, you plan to do whatever you can to help me. This is what you told my grandfather, right?”

An Nuan nodded slowly.

“But I don’t need you to do that for me,” Lin Xiao Feng said. He stared into An Nuan’s eyes as if searching for something. “An Nuan, that was not the reason I married you in the first place.”

Her heart skipped a beat.

It felt as if her heart was drenched in honey each time An Nuan remembered that Lin Xiao Feng had volunteered as the substitute groom because he liked her.

“Then, why did you decide to invite me now?” An Nuan asked.

Lin Xiao Feng smiled. “Well, now, the situation has changed between us. I still did not need you to do anything for my career. But Nuan Nuan, I just wanted to show off my pretty wife now that you are with me.”

A faint blush appeared on An Nuan’s face.

She liked to hear Lin Xiao Feng calling her pretty.

“Nuan Nuan, I just need you to stay by my side,” Lin Xiao Feng said. “You don’t need to do anything else for me.”

“How can it be?” An Nuan lowered her head and chuckled. “Lin Xiao Feng, you have done so many things for me. But you won’t allow me to do anything for you. This… This isn’t fair for you, right?”

Lin Xiao Feng pondered over An Nuan’s words. Then, his lips curled into a smile. “I don’t expect anything in return. But there is something that you can do for me.”

An Nuan looked at Lin Xiao Feng curiously.

“Love me.” Lin Xiao Feng rubbed the tip of his nose against An Nuan’s cheek. “As long as you love me, I will be happy.”

The couple stared into each other’s eyes without saying a word.

Lin Xiao Feng moved slowly until his lips found An Nuan’s.

The couple kissed softly and slowly. After a while, An Nuan noticed that the air around them turned hotter. Just then, Lin Xiao Feng pulled away and lowered his gaze.

“What?” An Nuan asked. She followed Lin Xiao Feng’s gaze and noticed that the man was looking at the table.

“I was just thinking–” Lin Xiao Feng’s voice was thick with desire. “–if this table is big and sturdy enough.”

An Nuan was puzzled. Before she could ask Lin Xiao Feng what he meant, the man lifted her up and placed her on the table. His lips found hers again.

Sometimes later, An Nuan finally understood why Lin Xiao Feng was curious about the table.
