Chapter 283: An Nuan’s Mentor
A couple of weeks later, it was the day An Nuan was supposed to meet with her mentor.

An Nuan grew restless as the day approached.

She had not seen her mentor ever since she returned to Y City and An Nuan did not know the reason her mentor wanted to look for her. An Nuan missed the old man but at the same time, she was worried that her mentor would scold her the moment they met. She was afraid of how her mentor was going to react.

Ye Qing Xin texted An Nuan the place and time of the appointment.

On the weekend, Lin Xiao Feng drove An Nuan to the hotel where the meeting was arranged.

An Nuan inhaled a deep breath when she realized that they had arrived at the location.

“Hey.” Lin Xiao Feng waited until An Nuan turned to look at him. He reached for her hand and realized that it was cold. Lin Xiao Feng shot an assuring smile at his wife. “It’s going to be alright. I’m here with you,”

An Nuan inhaled a deep breath. “I know.”

Lin Xiao Feng rubbed his thumb against An Nuan’s hand for a while. “Are you ready to go?”

“Hmm…” An Nuan raised her head to meet Lin Xiao Feng’s eyes. “Let’s go.”

Lin Xiao Feng helped An Nuan alight from the car.

Holding hands, the two entered the restaurant where An Nuan’s mentor might be waiting for her.

An Nuan held Lin Xiao Feng’s arm tightly as they walked in.

They spoke to the server and found that Mr. Lane was already waiting for An Nuan in the private room.

An Nuan inhaled another deep breath. She raised her hand to knock on the door and pushed the door open. Her steps halted as An Nuan saw her mentor sitting at the end of the table.

Lin Xiao Feng watched as the mentor and pupil stared at each other for a long time without saying a word.

“Dad.”

The voice pulled An Nuan back to reality. She looked away from her mentor and saw a young woman sitting beside the old man. An Nuan recognized the young woman as her mentor’s daughter.

“Are you going to stare at Miss An forever?” The young woman asked. “You’ve been expecting to see her for a while. Why don’t you invite her to sit down?”

Andrew Lane cleared his throat. He peeked at An Nuan one more time and said, “Why don’t you come in and sit down?”

“Yes.” An Nuan heaved a breath of relief once she heard her mentor’s words. She glanced at the younger woman and shot her a thankful smile. Lin Xiao Feng habitually pulled a chair for An Nuan. He noticed that his wife’s mentor was observing him but he pretended as if he did not notice anything.

“Who is this person?” Andrew Lane asked. “A friend?” His brow furrowed when he saw that An Nuan and Lin Xiao Feng were holding hands.

Mr. Lane had met Pei Zhi Yi a while ago and knew that she was marrying that man.

Now that he saw his student with a man he had never seen before, Mr. Lan became curious.

An Nuan glanced at Lin Xiao Feng anxiously. “Mr. Lane. Let me introduce you… This is my husband, Lin Xiao Feng. Xiao Feng, this is my mentor, Mr. Andrew Lane, and his daughter, Miss Stella Lane.”

Mr. Lane and her daughter looked surprised.

They both had not expected that An Nuan would introduce the strange man as her husband.

They knew that An Nuan was married. But not to Lin Xiao Feng!

“Hello.” Lin Xiao Feng stretched his hand for a handshake. His expression was calm.

Mr. Lane shook Lin Xiao Feng’s hand absentmindedly. The warmth from Lin Xiao Feng’s hand pulled Mr. Lane out of his trance. “You…” His eyes were on An Nuan. “Weren’t you supposed to marry another…” His words were unfinished.

Andrew Lane looked at Lin Xiao Feng again. He did not know anything about An Nuan’s relationship with this man. He was worried that he might say the wrong thing in this meeting with his student.

“It’s a long story,” An Nuan said.

Mr. Lane exchanged another look with his daughter.

They both have heard through Ye Qing Xin that An Nuan was married. However, they had thought that An Nuan had married Pei Zhi Yi.

Knock! Knock!

The knocking on the door made everyone look up.

Soon, a server walked into the room with the restaurant’s menu in her hand.

Mr. Lane had a lot of things he wanted to say to An Nuan and a lot of questions he wanted to ask.

With the server’s presence in the room, Andrew Lane took this chance to compose his thoughts.

Other than Lin Xiao Feng, everyone in the room ordered the food and drinks half-heartedly.

Knowing that his wife was still anxious about this meeting with her mentor, Lin Xiao Feng took the task of ordering a few foods for An Nuan. He could not bear to let her go hungry.

The server left and the room once again turned quiet.

“You…” Mr. Lane broke the silence in the room. “An Nuan, tell me what is going on? I thought that you were going to marry another person.” His brow furrowed deeply as he recalled his last conversation with An Nuan before she left. “You said that you were going to stop designing. Why are you back designing jewelry?”

An Nuan had an awkward smile on her face. “Mr. Lane, my wedding with Pei Zhi Yi was canceled.”

“Cancelled?” Andrew Lane looked surprised.

“Let’s just say that he no longer wanted to be with me,” An Nuan said. She peeked at Lin Xiao Feng and inhaled deeply. Then, An Nuan explained to her mentor why her wedding with Pei Zhi Yi was canceled.

Mr. Lane and his daughter looked at An Nuan in disbelief. They still could not believe that An Nuan did not marry Pei Zhi Yi. After all, they had seen how close An Nuan and Pei Zhi Yi were.

This girl was willing to let go of her career for a man.

And now, Mr. Lane and his daughter found out that An Nuan was not marrying the man.
