Chapter 303: Taken to the Hospital
Lin Xiao Feng hasn’t returned home for three days.

During this time, Lin Xiao Feng and the flood victims continued to stay at the shelter. The couple could only communicate while Lin Xiao Feng rested to have his meal.

An Nuan’s heart sank as she listened to her husband’s tired voice.

But there was nothing that she could do other than assuring him that she was living well. She wanted Lin Xiao Feng to concentrate on his work and return home quickly.

Within these few days, An Nuan spent most of her time at home.

She was not in the mood to go out or do anything else.

Fortunately, her new assistant was very capable of handling everything for her. An Nuan could be at ease with Assistant Xu around.

Although she was disappointed, An Nuan quickly picked up the phone, knowing that Assistant Lu would not reach her number unless it was not because of Lin Xiao Feng.

“Hello. Assistant Lu?” An Nuan spoke as the phone call was connected.

“Mrs. Lin, hello.”

An Nuan stood up straight when she noticed the tension in Assistant Lu’s voice.

“Mrs. Lin, your husband was taken to the hospital a while ago,” Assistant Lu said.

An Nuan’s hands trembled at the thought that something bad happened to her husband.

After saying a few words with Assistant Lu, An Nuan rushed to get her keys, wanting to look for Lin Xiao Feng at the hospital.

Auntie Yu came out of the kitchen a while ago when she noticed the tension in An Nuan’s voice. Seeing the panicked look on An Nuan’s face made her step forward.

“Madam.” Auntie Yu held An Nuan’s hand to stop her from going back and forth. “What’s going on?” Her eyes fell on the keys in An Nuan’s hand. “You’re heading out?”

An Nuan turned to the voice and saw Auntie Yu standing behind her. “Auntie Yu, I have to go to the hospital. Something happened to my husband.”

Auntie Yu wiped her hands on the apron before taking it off. “Madam, let me go with you. It’s not convenient for you to go alone.” Auntie Yu noticed that An Nuan was distraught and thought that it would be safer if she went with An Nuan.

The two alighted the car together.

Auntie Yu had to keep her eyes on An Nuan and reminded her to drive safely until they reached the hospital.

The hospital was quite busy with a lot of people coming and going, especially after the storm a few days ago.

An Nuan nearly cried when she could not find a parking spot.

If she knew it was too hard to get a parking spot, she would call for a driver instead.

But she was too worried about Lin Xiao Feng to think of anything else. All she wanted was to get to Lin Xiao Feng’s side as soon as possible.

Fortunately, Auntie Yu noticed a car coming out and pointed it out to An Nuan.

An Nuan took out her phone and contacted Assistant Lu. They arranged to meet at the entrance where Assistant Lu would be taking An Nuan to Lin Xiao Feng’s ward.

Assistant Lu then explained that Lin Xiao Feng was hospitalized due to food poisoning. He had been experiencing diarrhea and vomiting for a day before he decided to visit the hospital.

The condition around the shelter was not that good. There were too many people around and Lin Xiao Feng was busy running around to care much about the food and drinks he took.

An Nuan walked into the ward only to see Lin Xiao Feng lying on the bed with his eyes closed. A tube was attached to his hand.

Her nose turned sore the moment her eyes lay on Lin Xiao Feng’s figure.

An Nuan had imagined various scenes where she would be meeting Lin Xiao Feng after a few days of separation. But she had never thought that she would see him lying on the hospital bed.

It had been three days since the last time she saw this man but An Nuan could see that Lin Xiao Feng had lost some weight. His face was too thin.

An Nuan turned to Assistant Lu beside her and asked, “How is he?” Her voice was a whisper. An Nuan was afraid that she would be disturbing Lin Xiao Feng’s rest. She knew that he was tired after working hard for a few days and wanted him to have enough rest.

“Right now, the doctor already administered some medicine for him,” Assistant Lu reported. “Mr. Lin fell asleep after a while. The doctor said he should stay at the hospital for a few days for an observation.”

An Nuan nodded. “I understand. Assistant Lu, you should go back and rest as well. Don’t worry about him. I’m here.”

Assistant Lu has been accompanying Lin Xiao Feng for a few days. An Nuan was sure that the assistant should be tired after working hard as well.

Now that she was here, she could look after Lin Xiao Feng.

Assistant Lu glanced at his boss before turning to An Nuan again. “I understand. Mrs. Lin, feel free to call me if you need anything.”

“Thank you.” An Nuan tried to smile.

The assistant nodded before turning around to leave.

Taking a deep breath, An Nuan walked closer to Lin Xiao Feng.

A tear slid down her cheek once she reached his bed.

This man was always jumping around her, teasing her whenever they were together.

Seeing him lying on the bed made her heart feel heavy.

An Nuan pulled a chair and sat next to the bed. She held Lin Xiao Feng’s hand and prayed that he would be safe.
