Lin Xiao Feng woke up only to see a face he was missing staring back at him.

For a moment, he thought that he might be dreaming.

Perhaps he missed his wife so much that she started to show up in his dreams.

But An Nuan’s soft finger against his cheek made Lin Xiao Feng realize that this was not a dream.

The person in front of him was indeed his wife.

“Lin Xiao Feng.” An Nuan called his name after a long silence. “How are you feeling?”

“I’m good.” Lin Xiao Feng smiled. Now that his wife was in front of him, Lin Xiao Feng felt better.

However, the smile on Lin Xiao Feng’s face did not last for too long.

An Nuan raised a hand and flicked Lin Xiao Feng’s forehead. Her touch was soft but it still made Lin Xiao Feng frown.

“You make me worry,” An Nuan said.

Lin Xiao Feng had an apologetic look on his face. “I’m sorry.”

An Nuan heaved a sigh. “Forget it. The most important thing is for you to get well soon.” She reached for the button beside the bed to call the nurse.

Lin Xiao Feng reached for An Nuan’s hand and held it tight. “How long have I been sleeping?”

An Nuan glanced at her wristwatch. “Seven hours.”

“Why didn’t you wake me up?”

“I saw that you are too tired,” An Nuan said. “I want you to have a proper rest. After all, you did not have a proper sleep while you were at the shelter.”

Just then, a doctor and a nurse came into the room to ask Lin Xiao Feng a few questions.

Floods can lead to many diseases.

There are a lot of people coming to the hospital these days for the same reason.

But Lin Xiao Feng’s condition was worse than others probably because he did not have enough rest recently.

The doctor told Lin Xiao Feng to be very careful with his food and drinks and to get proper rest.

After reminding the nurse to give Lin Xiao Feng his medicine, the doctor then left.

“Are you hungry?” An Nuan asked. She walked to the side to take out a food container from a bag. “You haven’t eaten anything for a while. Auntie Yu made some porridge for you. It’s still warm. The doctor said you can only eat lighter food.”

“Nuan Nuan.” Lin Xiao Feng called. He stared at her for a while before waving his hand at her. “Come over here.”

Lin Xiao Feng had been observing for a while and gradually noticed something strange about her.

An Nuan put down the food container and walked over to Lin Xiao Feng’s side. As soon as she reached the bed, Lin Xiao Feng tugged on her hand, making her fall into his arms. An Nuan did not struggle to get off Lin Xiao Feng’s bed.

The couple continued to stare into each other’s eyes for a while.

Then, An Nuan lowered her head and buried her face into Lin Xiao Feng’s chest. “Lin Xiao Feng, I was really worried.” She held the front of Lin Xiao Feng’s shirt tighter. “You don’t know how anxious I was when Assistant Lu called to say that you were taken to the hospital. I really thought that something bad had happened.”

Feeling the man’s warmth and inhaling his familiar scent, An Nuan gradually calmed down.

“On my way to the hospital, I kept thinking what I should do if something happened to you? I was so scared.”

Lin Xiao Feng’s expression softened.

He knew that he had scared An Nuan with the news.

Lin Xiao Feng wanted to scold his assistant for letting An Nuan know that he was taken to the hospital. But then, he knew that An Nuan would worry when she could not reach him.

He would call her each time he was on a break.

If he missed their usual phone call, An Nuan would worry.

When she finally found out that he had kept his health a secret from her, An Nuan would be furious.

It was not easy for him to chase his wife.

He was not going to make his wife angry.

“I’m sorry,” Lin Xiao Feng’s voice was soft. “This won’t happen again.” Right now, he could only pacify his wife.

“You can’t let anything happen to you,” An Nuan said.

“Well, I know.” He placed a finger under An Nuan’s chin and raised her face. “I can’t promise that nothing will ever happen to me again. After all I am not omnipotent.” A teasing smile appeared on his face. “But Nuan Nuan, I will try my best.”

An Nuan wrapped her arms around Lin Xiao Feng’s waist and leaned her head on his chest again.

She has been doing a lot of thinking while Lin Xiao Feng was asleep earlier.
