Chapter 31: No Longer Stood a Chance

Lin Xiao Feng dropped Ren Di at her place before he left with An Nuan.

The atmosphere was lively while Ren Di was still in the car. But now that she was not around, everything has turned silent. Lin Xiao Feng glanced at An Nuan a few times and noted that she was busy looking out the window.

It has been a week since he last saw An Nuan.

Now that their relationship had changed to a husband and wife, Lin Xiao Feng realized that he had been paying more attention to her. His usually steady heart was beating faster at the sight of her.

There were a lot of things that he wanted to say to her. However, Lin Xiao Feng changed his mind when he saw the relaxing look on An Nuan’s face.

Lin Xiao Feng knew that An Nuan had been gone for a week to clear her mind. He wondered what she had thought about while she was gone and what she had decided to do next.

Lin Xiao Feng was stealing another glance at An Nuan when she suddenly turned to look at him. Fortunately for him, An Nuan had not noticed that he was watching her,

“You…” Lin Xiao Feng chose to speak first, wanting to get rid of the awkward atmosphere between them. “An Nuan, have you been well?”

“Hmm… I’m good.” An Nuan flashed a smile as their eyes met briefly. She wondered if Lin Xiao Feng was worried about her while she was away on vacation. “I enjoyed my vacation in T Country.”

Lin Xiao Feng glanced at An Nuan again. Her face showed that she was indeed enjoying her time in T Country. Knowing that An Nuan could relax during her stay there made him feel more at ease.

“Is everything alright during the time I was away?” An Nuan asked. “Did anything happen? That person…” There was a hint of hesitation in An Nuan’s voice. “Did he come to my place?”

An Nuan knew that Pei Zhi Yi would be coming to find her and make trouble. Since Lin Xiao Feng was her neighbor, An Nuan figured that Lin Xiao Feng would know if her ex came to her place.

Lin Xiao Feng avoided An Nuan’s gaze. He did not know if he should tell An Nuan the truth. Lin Xiao Feng was worried about An Nuan’s feelings for Pei Zhi Yi.

If she heard that the man came to find her, would she be touched? Would her heart waver?

“He did not make trouble for my family, right?” An Nuan asked.

Lin Xiao Feng pondered over An Nuan’s question and decided to tell her the truth. Their relationship had just begun. Lin Xiao Feng hoped it would never be filled with lies, no matter how unhappy he was to talk about Pei Zhi Yi.

“He did come,” Lin Xiao Feng said.

An Nuan’s heart skipped a beat. She started to worry about what Pei Zhi Yi would say and do in front of her family.

“He wanted to look for you but your elder brother stopped him before he could cause trouble,” Lin Xiao Feng said. “Your elder brother threatened to call the police before that person finally left.”

An Nuan heaved a breath of relief upon hearing that Pei Zhi Yi did not get to do anything. She was mostly afraid that the man would do something to harm her parents.

“Your family had warned the guards that Mr. Pei was no longer welcome,” Lin Xiao Feng continued. “You don’t have to worry. That person won’t be able to make trouble for your family.”

“That’s good.” An Nuan lowered her head.

She was worried that she might run into Pei Zhi Yi now that she had returned to Y City.

An Nuan was tired after a long flight. It would be a headache to run into Pei Zhi Yi now.

She knew that sooner or later, she would have to face Pei Zhi Yi again. But, today was not that day.

Lin Xiao Feng observed An Nuan’s reaction.

He could not figure out An Nuan’s thoughts based on her reaction alone.

“Have you figured out what you wanted to do next?” Lin Xiao Feng asked.

A smile that did not reach An Nuan’s eyes appeared on her lips. “Mmm…” She looked out the window again. “Let’s talk about this once we have met my parents. I have a lot of things that I wanted to discuss with you about. It might be too long to talk about it now.” For now, you just need to know that I have no intention to go back to Pei Zhi Yi.”

The light in Lin Xiao Feng’s eyes lit up.

He could not conceal the joy in his heart upon hearing her words.

Pei Zhi Yi no longer stood a chance.

As long as An Nuan was not going to give that man a chance, Lin Xiao Feng knew that he would be able to win An Nuan’s heart.

“Lin Xiao Feng…” An Nuan turned to the man again and flashed a smile. “I hope that you can cooperate with me a little longer.”

It did not take too long before they reached their neighborhood.

Lin Xiao Feng drove into the family courtyard and pulled over his car in front of An Nuan’s house. When he looked up, Lin Xiao Feng could see An Nuan’s father standing at the entrance. Then, her mother appeared by his side.

It was clear that they were all looking forward to An Nuan’s return.

Lin Xiao Feng knew that the elders were worried about An Nuan.

While she was away, Lin Xiao Feng visited her parents a few times and happened to hear them talking about her. They were both worried about An Nuan’s mental health. They were worried that An Nuan would do something stupid while she was in another country.

“You should go and see your parents first,” Lin Xiao Feng said. “Don’t worry about your luggage. I will help you to bring them inside.”

“Hmm…” An Nuan nodded. “Lin Xiao Feng, thank you.”
