Chapter 34: In a Good Mood

Lin Xiao Feng found an excuse to leave once the meal with the An family had ended.

An Nuan walked him to the door with a concerned look on her face. She thought that Lin Xiao Feng was going to stay around longer. Unexpectedly, he chose to leave early.

“Didn’t we agree that we should talk?”” An Nuan spoke as they reached the car. “You’re leaving now?”

“Hmm…” Lin Xiao Feng nodded. “I have some matters to attend to. Let’s continue our discussion tomorrow.” He remembered seeing An Nuan stifling her yawn a few times while she chatted with her parents.

Although Lin Xiao Feng had a lot to say to An Nuan, he figured it was better to let her rest first.

“I’ll pick you up tomorrow for lunch?” Lin Xiao Feng suggested.

An Nuan considered his suggestion and nodded. “Alright.”

His heart skipped a beat. Lin Xiao Feng could not describe his happiness, thinking he would have a date with An Nuan tomorrow.

“You just returned today,” Lin Xiao Feng said. “An Nuan, you should rest first. I’m sure that you should be tired.”

“Hmm…” An Nuan nodded again. She too was planning to return to her room and rest. Her body was too tired after sitting on the plane for too long.

Lin Xiao Feng turned to his car and hesitated. Then, he turned around and waved his car key to An Nuan. “Take this.”

An Nuan stared at the car key with a dazed look on her face. “Why are you giving me your car keys?”

“Use my car if you need to go out anytime,” Lin Xiao Feng said. “I heard that your ex often hangs around the security at the gate to find you.”

Her eyes went wide when she heard Lin Xiao Feng mention her ex.

“A few days ago, he stopped your father from going out at the gate,” Lin Xiao Feng continued. “It seemed that he had memorized the car you and your family used. Next time you go out, you can use mine if you need to go out.”

An Nuan stared at the car keys for a while before accepting it. “Thank you.”

Lin Xiao Feng hoped that Pei Zhi Yi would have no chance to see An Nuan. However, he had no say if it was An Nuan who chose to see that man. Watching An Nuan taking the keys from him made him sigh in relief.

An Nuan stared at the keys in her hand before looking up again. “Then what about you?”

Lin Xiao Feng chuckled. “An Nuan, I live next door. I can walk home.”

A faint blush appeared on An Nuan’s face. “No. What if you need to go out?”

“My dad had several cars. I can use one of them.”

An Nuan nodded. “That… Pei Zhi Yi… did he come often to harass my family?” She had asked her family about Pei Zhi Yi and she had the feeling that her family members were not telling her the truth.

“Hmm…But you don’t have to worry about this. Your elder brother is doing everything he can to stop him.”

Lin Xiao Feng figured that it was time to make trouble for Pei Zhi Yi so that he would not have time to look for An Nuan and her family.

“I should go back first,” Lin Xiao Feng said as he turned towards the other direction.

“I’ll walk you to the gate,” An Nuan offered.

Of course, Lin Xiao Feng was not going to say no to the chance of being around An Nuan for a little longer.

The two of them walked in silence until they were about to reach the gate.

An Nuan turned to Lin Xiao Feng again and said, “I’ll come and visit your place tomorrow.”

“We are already married.” An Nuan paused to clear her throat. “But I haven’t had a proper chance to meet your parents.” Her expression turned serious. “Were they furious?”

An Nuan started to worry.

She only met Lin Xiao Feng’s parents briefly during the wedding. Then, she flew to T Country the next day with her friend when she should be meeting Lin Xiao Feng’s parents to apologize and explain her situation.

“They’re not. I explained to them everything,” Lin Xiao Feng said. “You have met my parents during the wedding banquet, remember?”

Lin Xiao Feng’s parents were gentle to her as usual. But An Nuan was still worried.

Which parents would be happy to find out that their son married as a substitute? Moreover, that person was someone like Lin Xiao Feng.

Song Luan was in the living room when she noticed her son walking into the house. A chuckle escaped her lips when she heard Lin Xiao Feng humming a song. It was obvious that her son was in a good mood.

“Xiao Feng?” Song Luan called and waited for her son to look at her. “You seemed to be in a good mood.”

The smile on Lin Xiao Feng’s lips stretched wider. He walked over to his mother and saw the book in her hand. “Mom, what are you doing here?”

“Looking for an interesting recipe that I can follow.” Song Luan sighed when she realized that her son was changing the subject. “When did you come back? I did not hear your car.”

“Mmm… I parked my car next door and walked back.”

The light in Song Luan’s eyes lit up as she recalled something. “That’s right. An Nuan returned home today, right? Did you go to see her?”

“I picked her up from the airport today,” Lin Xiao Feng said. “Mom, An Nuan said she will come and see you tomorrow.”

Song Luan was excited to hear that her daughter-in-law was coming to visit. Her eyes fell on the recipe book in her hand again. “Then, I should prepare something tomorrow.”
