An Nuan woke up only to see Lin Xiao Feng holding her right hand tightly. He had his eyes closed and his nose rubbed against her knuckle. An Nuan did not know whether Lin Xiao Feng was awake or asleep. However, she could tell that he was worried.

“The baby is fine.” Lin Xiao Feng caressed his wife’s hair as he tried to keep her calm. “Nuan Nuan, calm down. The doctor said you have to stay calm. Don’t cry. The baby’s fine. As long as you stay calm, the baby will be alright.”

An Nuan sniffled. “Really?”

“Hmm…” Lin Xiao Feng nodded. He sat up straight and pressed the button behind An Nuan’s bed. “I’m calling the doctor. Let the doctor check on you first. Then, you can ask the doctor to tell you what you want to know.”

Knock! Knock!

The door was pushed open from the outside. Then, a woman in a white lab coat walked into the room.

“Mr.Lin.” The doctor nodded at Lin Xiao Feng before turning to An Nuan. “Mrs. Lin, you’re awake.” The doctor flashed an amiable smile. She walked over and stopped as she reached the bed. “How are you feeling?”

“My baby…”

“Mrs. Lin. Your baby is fine.” The doctor patted An Nuan’s hand assuringly. “Earlier, there was a sign of miscarriage, but we managed to prevent that from happening. Right now, your condition is stable. But you have to stay here for an observation.”

The doctor gave An Nuan a quick check-up and explained her condition.

Right now, her body was still weak and it was advised for her to stay in bed to rest.

An Nuan asked the doctor a few questions regarding her pregnancy.

Once she was satisfied, the doctor finally left the couple alone.

An Nuan raised her head and met Lin Xiao Feng’s gentle eyes.

“Did you hear what the doctor said?” Lin Xiao Feng ran his fingers on An Nuan’s hair a few times. “You have to stay in bed and rest. Don’t run around.”

“I know.” An Nuan nodded obediently. She stared into Lin Xiao Feng’s eyes for a long time before she started to laugh. “Lin Xiao Feng.”

“Hmm?”

An Nuan took Lin Xiao Feng’s hand and placed it on her stomach.

Lin Xiao Feng inhaled a deep breath as he looked at his hand resting on An Nuan’s stomach.

An Nuan’s stomach was still flat. But then, he remembered that there was a life growing inside his wife’s stomach.

He could not describe what he was feeling right now.

When he looked at his wife again, Lin Xiao Feng could see An Nuan smiling happily at him.

The look on her face turned his heart soft.

“I’m pregnant,” An Nuan said. “Lin Xiao Feng. The doctor said I’m pregnant.”

Lin Xiao Feng could not help but smile as well. “I know.”

An Nuan laughed. “I think this happened on that rainy night. We both said that we were going to find a pill in the morning. But it looks like we both had forgotten about it.”

“Yes. I have to leave early because of the flood.”

Then, everything was too chaotic for both of them.

“I was too busy running around,” An Nuan said. “I did not notice that I had missed my period.” An Nuan bit her lips as she hesitated. “Lin Xiao Feng.”

“Yes?”

“We did not expect to have this baby. Well. Not at this moment.” The smile on her face disappeared. An Nuan stared at Lin Xiao Feng anxiously. “Lin Xiao Feng, what are we going to do?”

“What do you mean?” His brow furrowed.

An Nuan looked happy a brief seconds ago. But what if she really did not want to have a child now?

“I’m not going to look good in my wedding dress.” An Nuan sniffled.

Lin Xiao Feng paused briefly before he started to laugh. “You don’t have to worry about that. The seamstress is quite good. She’ll make sure that you will look good on our wedding day.”
