An Nuan became quite talkative now that her condition was better. The pregnancy news was an unexpected welcome and it put her in a good mood.

Lin Xiao Feng stayed by her side and listened to every word she said. He would reply when she asked a question and laugh when she made a joke.

After a while, An Nuan stopped.

Lin Xiao Feng watched his wife with his loving eyes, wondering if she was tired after talking for a long time.

“Are you tired?” Lin Xiao Feng asked. This thumb was rubbing An Nuan’s hand gently. “Should I pour a glass of water for you?’

Without waiting for An Nuan to respond, Lin Xiao Feng turned around and poured a glass of water for his wife. He helped her to drink before letting her lay on the bed comfortably.

An Nuan kept her eyes on Lin Xiao Feng as he moved around. Finally, he returned to sit next to her.

“Lin Xiao Feng,” An Nuan called his name again.

“Hmm?”

“Are you happy?” An Nuan asked. “You haven’t said a lot of words today. Are you not happy?”

“How can I not be happy?” Lin Xiao Feng flickered An Nuan’s forehead lightly. “I’m very happy. It’s just that…” Lin Xiao Feng held An Nuan’s hand tightly. “Nuan Nuan, I’m worried about you.” He pressed his lips on the back of her hand. “You don’t know how scared I was when I heard that something might happen to you. I thought I might lose you.”

An Nuan’s expression slowly changed.

Her heart ached as she thought of how Lin Xiao Feng might be panicking when he heard what happened.

“I’m sorry.” Other than apologizing, An Nuan did not know what she should say to Lin Xiao Feng.

Lin Xiao Feng heaved a faint sigh. “This isn’t your fault.” The one who should be blamed is the person who hurt his wife.

The light in his eyes turned darker as he thought of Sun Jiao. However, Lin Xiao Feng quickly reminded himself to stay calm. He did not want to scare An Nuan at this time.

“Nuan Nuan,” Lin Xiao Feng spoke again. “As long as you are safe and sound, I will be at ease.”

“Hmm…” An Nuan nodded. “I will be more careful.” She placed a hand on her stomach again.

Now that there is another life in her body, she will have to be more careful. This is the child between her and Lin Xiao Feng. She cannot let anything happen to the baby.

“You have to remember to rest properly,” Lin Xiao Feng reminded her. “Just tell me if you need anything, alright?”

An Nuan nodded again.

The smile on her face quickly disappeared as a thought came to her mind. “Lin Xiao Feng, we’re supposed to head back to Capital City today. But something like this happened.”

“Don’t worry about that. I already told Lu Zheng that I will return to Capital City later.”

“But you are quite busy with your work.” An Nuan frowned.

“Alright.” An Nuan stifled a yawn.

After a while, she closed her eyes and tried to get some sleep.

Lin Xiao Feng stayed by An Nuan’s side. Seeing that his wife was sleeping soundly, Lin Xiao Feng stood up and tiptoed to the door.

The gentle look on his face quickly disappeared the moment he stepped out the door.

Lin Xiao Feng took out his phone and dialed a number.

“Xiao Feng, how is An Nuan?” Su Ming Yuan asked as the phone call was connected.

“She’s fine. The doctor said she needs a lot of rest,” Lin Xiao Feng said. “She’s still under observation. I’m not sure when she could leave the hospital.”

“That’s good to hear.” Su Ming Yuan heaved in relief.

Not too long ago, the boys received news that An Nuan was in the hospital. While Lin Xiao Feng was still panicking, Qi Zheng was the one who updated everyone on what happened.

Everyone was worried when they heard that An Nuan was hospitalized. She was pregnant but there was a possibility that she might lose the baby.

“I have something to ask,” Lin Xiao Feng said.

“You want me to look for the Pei family’s adopted daughter?”

“That’s right.” Lin Xiao Feng was surprised that Su Ming Yuan managed to guess what he wanted to do. But a few seconds later, he figured that Qi Zheng might be the one who contacted the boys.

Lin Xiao Feng was too worried about his wife and did not check on his phone again after talking to his mother-in-law and his assistant.

He needed to tell his mother-in-law what happened. Then, he needed to tell his assistant that he won’t be returning to Capital City.

Earlier, Lin Xiao Feng noticed the notification on his phone but he was not in the mood to do anything when An Nuan still hadn’t opened her eyes.

“You don’t have to worry about this,” Su Ming Yuan said. “Xiao Feng, we’re already on it the moment we heard the news from Qi Zheng. Qi Zheng took Lin Qiao to the police station to lodge a report on that woman. We’re looking for Mr. Pei’s adopted younger sister. I think we’ll be able to find her before the sun rises.”

Lin Xiao Feng could not hide his surprise hearing that the boys were already on the move.
