Chapter 38: What Auntie?

Lin Xiao Feng and An Nuan left the restaurant after having their meal and a long talk.

It was Lin Xiao Feng who sat behind the wheels on their way back.

An Nuan took the chance to stare out the window while thinking about her long discussion with Lin Xiao Feng during their meal earlier. They had both decided to stay in this marriage for a different reason and agreed to help each other when needed.

Lin Xiao Feng only needed someone to be his wife so that his elders would stop nagging him about it.

With his qualifications, Lin Xiao Feng could choose just anyone. An Nuan felt that there would be a lot of women who were willing to marry him. However, Lin Xiao Feng chose her instead.

He told her that it would be easier as they both were familiar with each other.

As for An Nuan… her reason was not that different from Lin Xiao Feng.

After her breakup, she no longer has the heart to be in a relationship. She planned to stay with Lin Xiao Feng so that her elders would stop worrying. If Lin Xiao Feng found a woman that he fancied in the future, she would be willing to let him go.

An Nuan felt that this arrangement was quite good for both of them.

They were friends. Putting on an act once in a while in front of their family members should not be that difficult, right?

As An Nuan continued to look out the window, she realized that they were soon approaching their neighborhood area.

She was about to look away when she noticed a familiar car coming from the opposite direction.

Her heart skipped a beat when she realized that it was Pei Zhi Yi.

From the look of it, it seemed that he had only left her neighborhood a few minutes ago.

Her brow furrowed at the thought that Pei Zhi Yi had been disturbing her family while she was away.

She knew how difficult Pei Zhi Yi could be.

“An Nuan.”

The call snapped An Nuan out of her thoughts. She turned around and saw that Lin Xiao Feng shot a few glances at her.

“Do you mind stopping by my parents’ place?” Lin Xiao Feng said. “My mother… she wanted to see you.”

An Nuan threw Pei Zhi Yi’s matter at the back of her mind when she heard Lin Xiao Feng mention his mother. “Sure.” A smile appeared on her lips. “I should be meeting your parents sooner. Your mother would not mind that I visited her this late?”

“Of course, not. I have explained everything to her and she understood your situation.” Lin Xiao Feng glanced at An Nuan a few times and smiled when he noticed the worry on An Nuan’s face.

“An Nuan, our mothers have been friends for a long time and you have a good relationship with my mother. My mother won’t have a different opinion of you now that we are married,” Lin Xiao Feng said.”If you are free, you can help me to accompany my mother.”

Lin Xiao Feng hoped that An Nuan would see that there were a lot of benefits to marrying him.

Then perhaps, it would be easier for him to win An Nuan’s heart.

He may have to ask his mother to help him later.

The car entered their neighborhood.

Lin Xiao Feng pulled over his car into his usual parking spot.

His brow furrowed deeper as Lin Xiao Feng noticed a familiar vehicle next to his.

It was his grandfather’s.

His grandfather was not around when he left home earlier.

Lin Xiao Feng remembered that his mother had mentioned that his grandfather was going out to meet a few people. Why did he return this early?

His gaze shifted to An Nuan.

The thought of his grandfather and An Nuan meeting today worries him.

It might seem as if his grandfather had agreed to his marriage with An Nuan when he came to visit the An family last week. However, Lin Xiao Feng was still worried.

He was afraid that his grandfather would trouble An Nuan.

Lin Xiao Feng did not want to wrong An Nuan.

“What’s wrong?”

An Nuan’s voice snapped Lin Xiao Feng out of his thoughts.

“Should we get off now?”

Lin Xiao Feng met An Nuan’s gaze and smiled. He reminded himself that he should not let An Nuan worry. Regarding his grandfather, he will deal with the old man himself.

“Mmm… Let’s get off now.” He glanced at his grandfather’s car and sighed. “It’s just that, I did not expect that my grandfather would be home as well.”

“Your grandfather?” An Nuan looked worried.

She seemed to remember that she was afraid of Lin XiaoFeng’s grandfather when she was still young. Unlike the other members of his family, the old man would speak less and often had a frown on his face. An Nuan also remembered that Lin Xiao Feng’s grandfather can be quite strict.

“You don’t have to be afraid,” Lin Xiao Feng said.”I’m here.”

Their gazes met. Then, An Nuan could feel her heartbeat accelerate.

Lin Xiao Feng alighted from the car and helped An Nuan to get off.

The front door swung open as soon as they approached closer. Then, Song Luan’s smiling face appeared behind the door.

“An Nuan.” Song Luan’s attention was on the woman beside her son. She reached to hold An Nuan’s hand before pulling her into the house.

“Hello, Auntie.”An Nuan had a shy look on her face.

This was not the first time she met Lin Xiao Feng’s mother. But now that their relationship had changed, An Nuan was too shy to face Lin Xiao Feng’s mother.

“What Auntie?” Song Luan patted An Nuan’s hand a few times. “You are already married to Xiao Feng. An Nuan, shouldn’t you change the way you address me?”

“Mom.” Lin Xiao Feng frowned.

He already reminded his mother not to scare An Nuan. Lin Xiao Feng was worried that his wife would run away.

Song Luan laughed. Seeing the shy look on An Nuan’s face, Song Luan decided that she should not tease her daughter-in-law. “Come on in. An Nuan, I have been waiting for you.”
