Chapter 41: I am Prepared

“Then, what do you plan to do?” Lin Chuan asked. He leaned back and watched An Nuan with interest.

“I have discussed this with Xiao Feng. I planned to stay married to him so that my family members would stop worrying about me. While we are in this relationship, I will do everything that I can to support Xiao Feng.”

“Then, what will happen if you find someone you like in the future?”

An Nuan considered the old man’s question. “Grandfather, let’s not talk about that now. What will happen in the future should be discussed in the future. For now, I don’t have the intention of being in a new relationship. I wanted to return to work and focus on building my career first.”

Lin Chuan glanced at his grandson again.

He suddenly thought that his grandson was quite pitiful.

An Nuan’s talk with Lin Xiao Feng’s grandfather lasted for a while.

During this time, both Lin Xiao Feng and his mother did not speak that much. They sat around the table while listening to An Nuan’s words.

Once the conversation ended, Lin Chuan left the dining area and called his grandson to follow him to his study.

There were a few things that the old man wanted to discuss with his grandson.

Meanwhile, An Nuan followed Song Luan into the kitchen.

She was planning to leave soon and Song Luan wanted her to bring home the pastries that she had prepared earlier.

As she stood at the side, An Nuan noticed Song Luan’s silence. She thought about her conversation with Lin Xiao Feng’s grandfather and felt that her mother-in-law was not in a good mood because of it.

An Nuan understood Song Luan’s concern.

Lin Xiao Feng was the only child of Song Luan and Lin Xu.

She is now married to Lin Xiao Feng. However, their relationship would not be like any other couple. They will act like a husband and wife in public. However, their relationship was only in name.

As the mother, Song Luan wanted her son to have the best. She was worried about how this relationship was going to be.

“Auntie…” An Nuan called after a long hesitation. “Are you angry?”

She felt that talking to Song Luan would be difficult compared to Lin Chuan.

Perhaps, it was because she always had a good relationship with Song Luan in the past. Moreover, her mother was a good friend of her mother-in-law.

An Nuan remembered how Song Luan would often buy her gifts in the past.

Song Luan did not have a daughter and therefore, she would treat An Nuan as her own.

There was a long silence.

Song Luan placed another pastry into the box and heaved a long, heavy breath before turning to An Nuan. “I am not angry.”

An Nuan wanted to point out that Song Luan’s expression really said that she was not in a good mood.

“Actually, I understand what you wanted to do,” Song Luan continued. “Before you and Xiao Feng were married, Xiao Feng had explained a few matters to me. I know well that your relationship with my son isn’t going to be like any other couple.”

The look on An Nuan’s face softened as she learned that Lin Xiao Feng had explained to his mother that their relationship wasn’t going to be like anyone else’s.

“It’s just that, I am worried that both of you are going to be hurt,” Song Luan said.

“Auntie. We will be alright.”

Song Luan tried to smile.

An Nuan would not understand her feelings and Song Luan did not bother to explain. She was mostly worried about her son who seemed to like An Nuan.

Song Luan knew that her son was planning to pursue An Nuan. But after hearing An Nuan’s conversation with her father-in-law, Song Luan became worried.

The young lady in front of her seemed determined that she would not consider a relationship in the future.

“Auntie, I already talked to Xiao Feng. If he meets someone he likes in the future, then I am willing to let him go.”

Song Luan bit her lower lips before heaving a sigh. “Nuan Nuan, since you considered staying with Xiao Feng as a husband and wife, have you thought of being with him for real?”

“Auntie…”

“Don’t dismiss my suggestion so quickly,” Song Luan said before An Nuan could continue. “I just need you to think about this matter. I know that you did not have the intention of falling in love again. But, Nuan Nuan…” Song Luan patted An Nuan’s hand gently. “I hope that you can spend your time with Xiao Feng for a while longer and consider my words.”
