Chapter 42: On the Right Track

An Nuan stayed at the Lin’s residence for a few hours before she was finally let go. She held the paper bag with the pastries in her hand and smiled sweetly at her mother-in-law. “Auntie, I’m going back now.”

Song Luan heaved another sigh when she heard An Nuan’s words. “Nuan Nuan, you should start addressing me Mom, just like Xiao Feng.” A chuckle escaped her lips when she saw the reluctant look on An Nuan’s face. “Don’t think too much. I have always wanted to have a daughter but was unable to. Now that you are married to Xiao Feng, it would feel as if I had gained a daughter. If you don’t start now, it’s going to be hard to change it later.”

An Nuan pondered over Song Luan’s words and felt that it would make sense.

She told Lin Xiao Feng’s grandfather that she would play as Lin Xiao Feng’s wife well.

If people knew that she still addressed Song Luan Auntie, others would doubt her relationship with Lin Xiao Feng. Then, it would be hard to convince Pei Zhi Yi that she had moved.

An Nuan took a deep breath and smiled. “Mom.” Her voice was sweet and gentle.

Lin Xiao Feng did a double take at An Nuan when he heard her words.

Hearing her changing the way she had addressed his mother put him in a good mood. Lin Xiao Feng felt that his relationship with An Nuan would only be better in the future.

Right now, they are going on the right track. Things will get better for him soon.

An Nuan was so busy talking to Song Luan that she did not realize the affection in Lin Xiao Feng’s eyes.

After saying a few more words, Song Luan finally let An Nuan go.

Lin Xiao Feng took the paper bag from An Nuan’s hand as he walked her out. He walked to his car and noticed that An Nuan had stopped a while ago.

“What are you doing?” An Nuan laughed. “My house is just next to yours. We can walk.”

“I was thinking of leaving the car to you,” Lin Xiao Feng explained. “It will be convenient for you later. Otherwise, you will have to come here when you want to use my car.”

It was then that An Nuan remembered that Lin Xiao Feng had told her that she should use his car if she wanted to avoid Pei Zhi Yi a little longer.

Right now, Pei Zhi Yi has memorized her car and everyone that her family members own.

While she was away, Pei Zhi Yi had stopped her father and elder brother’s car at the entrance, hoping that he would see her.

If she drove out with one of the cars, there was a huge chance that she would run into Pei Zhi Yi at the gate.

An Nuan knew that a meeting with Pei Zhi Yi was inevitable.

However, she would prefer not to meet him somewhere closer to her house.

The neighbors are going to see them and she could not promise that she would not yell at Pei Zhi Yi or try to kill that man.

An Nuan did not want to give their neighbors something to gossip about.

“Alright then.” An Nuan nodded. She watched as Lin Xiao Feng helped her with the door and slid into the passenger’s seat.

Lin Xiao Feng drove out of Lin’s gate and entered the next door. He pulled over his car at the same spot as yesterday and leaned back on his seat.

The engine was still running and both of them did not seem as if they were going to alight from the car soon.

Lin Xiao Feng glanced at An Nuan and saw her with her head lowered. She seemed to have something in her mind.

“An Nuan.”

His voice made An Nuan look up.

A smile curled on his lips as their gazes met.

“I did not expect that you would consider me and my work,” Lin Xiao Feng said. “I was surprised to hear you and my grandfather’s conversation earlier.”

An Nuan nudged Lin Xiao Feng’s arm and chuckled. “We are considered partners. You have helped me enough. Of course, I have to consider a lot of things.” She retracted her gaze again and inhaled a deep breath. “While I was on vacation, Ren Di helped me to think about a lot of things. Mostly, it was about what I planned to do next. We talked about me going back to work and what I can do.”

Lin Xiao Feng made a mental note to thank Ren Di in the future for staying by An Nuan’s side.

He felt that An Nuan’s mind would stray if Ren Di did not come with An Nuan to T Country.

“Later, I thought about how I can help you,” An Nuan said. “Ren Di was curious about you since I haven’t spoken much about you.” An Nuan smiled. “We ended up searching about you on the search engine.” Her expression suddenly turned serious. “Lin Xiao Feng, I did not expect that you are a big shot.”

Lin Xiao Feng raised a brow. He wondered what An Nuan found about him on the internet.

He reminded himself to call his assistant and let him look for news about him.

“I figured that staying as a politician’s wife should not be that easy,” An Nuan continued. “During my stay in T Country, I have thought about a lot of things and finally came to my decision.”

Lin Xiao Feng understood how An Nuan had bravely talked to his grandfather earlier.

“Actually, I don’t need you to do anything for me. It’s good enough if you stay by my side as my wife,” Lin Xiao Feng said.

“Mhm…” An Nuan nodded. “Isn’t that what I am planning to do? Lin Xiao Feng, you don’t have to worry. I will do my best as your wife.”

Lin Xiao Feng heaved a helpless sigh. He felt that trying to win his wife’s heart was not going to be easy.

What he did not know was that An Nuan was thinking about her conversation with his mother in the kitchen earlier.
